PowerDVD and next-gen audio......

If using the analog outs of my soundcard, can I get all the next-gen audio tracks from PowerDVD for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray?

Yes. We have the analog out from the x-fi card going to the external decoder on our receiver in 7.1 surround, and this works very well.

So you just right-click in PowerDVD and you can select "audio languages", just like in regular DVD's??

COOOOL!

This answers my question also. However, I am more looking at using this from a 'couch' perspective, not a computer monitor. So can you navigate PDVD and select the audio options etc. from a remote or do you need a keyboard?

I also assume that PDVD can default to 5.1 analog audio outs? This should sound the same a s a standalone player, correct?

Thanks.

I don't think PowerDVD "defaults" to analog outs. You select your audio details in the "configuration" menu.

Wait, decoder? If it's analogue outs, doesn't that mean it's already been decoded?

Once it is set, does it remain or does it need changed every time?

Nope, if you choose SPDIF or if you choose analog, its stays that way until you either re-set it, or uninstall the program and re-install it.
