As of now you need an intermediary between TiVo and a streamer. No current streamer can direct-connect to a TiVo. I can use kmttg to transfer from TiVo to my NAS for playback on my streamer, but that requires a PC to do the transfer. Then there is the Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 2, which advertises TiVo compatibility to allow direct transfer of non-protected TiVo content to the NAS. But aside from the expense of that NAS, the .tivo wrapper is probably intact which would preclude playing it on a streamer.

We got a HD XL in August, we got the refurbished model and thought it would be ok. Unfortunately we're on our second one. The first was a hard drive failure so we have our new one now.

Randomly our TiVo will freeze and then go into its reboot sequence and attempt to reboot which has never been successful. It does this whether we are watching a recording, live TV or on NF. The only way to reset it is to pull the plug and reboot. It used to happen every couple of days, now it happens often maybe like 30 mins after watching a show. What can anybody tell me? I've skimmed some pages in the thread but haven't heard of any same problem as others.

My 'hip shot' would be a bad harddrive.

Do you send it back to get it replaced or do it myself (I've done it in multiple computers before).

Have you seen the first post in this thread? Lot's of pointers, start by searching for "drive" in that huge, single post. I didn't realize it was kept updated until I made a few posts here myself.

Is anyone else having this problem?
Starting last Sunday (11/7), 10-15 of my HD channels have no signal. This happens on both my Tivo HDs.
Comcast says it is something on their end that is causing a cablecard issue and so far they can't figure out what.

I was wondering if this is a global Comcast issue or just a regional one here in CT.

Has anyone got a Netgear RNDU6000? It is a NAS that will back up your Tivo "Keep until I delete" recordings. Among other things. I need something like this and am trying to decide to get it or a Drobo.

Ask them (Comcast) to hit your cablecard. I have an 800# to call and I walk (crawl) through the "For Spanish, Press 1, etc" menus until I get to the one that sends a hit to my cablebox (I don't have a cablebox, just a MOTO MCARD cablecard in my TiVo, but it works).

You can hit your own Cable Cards here

http://digitalnow.comcast.com/

Assuming you know your own info

It wasn't a problem with my cable cards (they hit them several times), it was a problem with comcast itself. The tech told me that everyone who had a TiVo had the same problem.

10 days later, the problem is fixed but I never found out what they did.
I assume it was a software problem in my local area.

I understand times change and things get updated. Models lose support, and eventually you've got to get replacements.

I have two HD TiVo's. One is just one year old. So TiVo decides to put out a new app for the iPad to program your TiVo and more. Sounds great, but sorry it only works if you have the TiVo Premier!

Something about that just isn't right. How difficult could it have been to make it available for the HD TiVo and the S3. Are the platforms really that much different? I looked at the Premier. Nice but my other TiVo's are working great thank you, I don't need another one right now.

http://www.tivo.com/mytivo/product-f...pad/index.html

Looks pretty nice, doesn't it?

I use to love TiVo so passionately, but ever since they farmed out their customer service it just doesn't feel like the same company. Anyway, I'm ranting so I'll stop now.

I agree with your feelings completely, here. The reason I do is because TiVo is a subscription service; we pay for support such as UI extensions and new features. I realize lifetime is popular, but my understanding is that a lot more people pay the recurring subscription fee for service. So unless it is strictly a matter of hardware limitations -- i.e. the older TiVo's hardware can't support the new feature -- if you have an older TiVo and are paying the subscription fee, you are damned well entitled to these updates on your box and should expect them. $130/yr for guide service is way over-priced if that's all I'm going to get going forward. I don't like being treated as a cash-cow unless I buy their latest and greatest hardware -- which, by the time it is debugged only has a year or so left on it's product life-cycle.

Not only that, they just shafted anyone interested in an iPad app that bought a Tivo HD 8 months ago. This is what's wrong - the Premiere hasn't been out that long, but they're willing to kiss everyone else off.

I think it's obvious that they are getting desperate to boost sales of the Premiere, which offered nothing more than hardware speed enhancements when they dropped the ball on the UI.

I agree whole-heartedly with the three posts above (I still use an S3), particularly Kelson's observation that ". . . TiVo is a subscription service; we pay for support such as UI extensions and new features. . . . if you have an older TiVo and are paying the subscription fee, you are damned well entitled to these updates on your box and should expect them. $130/yr for guide service is way over-priced if that's all I'm going to get. . . ." I also feel that it's a sign of desperation, but have two additional thoughts:

1. Given that TiVo's programmers seem not to have been at the head of their class (witness: unfinished Premiere UI and pathetic, bloated TiVo Desktop), their iPad app may not be much for us to miss. (That is, it could be as half-a$$ed as said interface.)

2. Unless some proprietary information prevents it, I'm sure that the free-lance coders in the iApps community will produce something far better.

OK, you can call me Pollyanna.

Are there any iPhone apps that let you remotely record on your TiVo hd?

I share your misgivings about how good a TiVo app for iPad might be. As slow as the HD UI used on the new Premiere TiVos is, I fear that a TiVo app for iPad would be excruciatingly so.

Not yet. It will be interesting to see whether TiVo develops an iPad app and whether Apple approves it and makes it available at the App Store.

Overpriced for a TiVo remote control app, but works great for placeshifting. Is the O.P. still around?

Verizon FIOS lists Tru HD as available on 683, but my TiVo does not have it in the guide

You can get to it by jumping directly to 683

Since I connected the tuning adapters to my Tivos I have been having a problem with the three of them. The Tivo units either turn themselves on or don't turn themselves off after recording. I disconnected one of the adapters and all was fine. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thank You. MQ

I believe in the faq at the beginning of this thread, they say how to tell tivo to add that channel for your area. if it's not there, I could probably look for my copy of the note that said how to do that...I think it involves going to tivocentral.com?

What Tivo units turn themselves off? Or can even be off? With that said, I will assume for now that it is the USB connection from the TA taht is doing this. My guess would be that they always be on, something with how the TA shifts channels in and out.

I still have not connected my TA's. I understand that connecting to the lower USB connector works better than the other??

I've had a TA hooked to a S3 for two years. I've never had a problem ... although the Brighthouse Tec's will tell you they are a headache ... but if you ask them a specific question about them, they can't respond ... I think they just denigrate them because they don't have any idea how they work.

Cox SD just started implementation. Installed my first one a few minutes ago. My TiVo knew what to do.

Had a thunderstorm and electrical outage here last week. My T3-HD recovered within a few minutes, my T4-Premiere barfed and DIED. Anyone else have this experience? I came home after a week out of town and discovered my Premiere was frozen like ICE and had to have it's AC power disconnected in order to make it responsive to my human commands again. My T3-HD recovered on it's own. Newer is better, or is it "More Better"?

Get a small UPS/Battery Backup and you wont have that problem again.
