I did what a lot of others did last week. I had this pre-ordered through Amazon as soon as they started taking pre-orders. When it did not ship, I cancelled and ordered through Best Buy and picked it up on my way home last Tuesday. I like the packaging but I think my particular copy has a slight problem with the slip case. The front flap seems a little long so the velcro does not line up perfectly. Overall still pretty cool.
I finished watching it this weekend on my PS3. I had no problems watching it with whatever defualt Blu-Ray settings came with the 2.0 update. One disc did seem like it took a little longer to load than the others, but still came up and played fine.
On the quality, I was able to notice Charlie breaking the small E string on his guitar while walking in the jungle with it straped on his back. It catches on a tree branch and snaps and flops around a little. Maybe I noticed this because I play guitar a little, but to be able to see it on the screen seems to show the detail that BD can display. I doubt I would have caught it without looking for it on a standard DVD.
I do have a question though, maybe others can answer. I read this on another message board.
There's also a "BD Java" feature, I was watching The Cost of Living and during the black smoke owning Eko scene a little blue circle appeared at the bottom right hand of the screen, I clicked on it and it talked about the form it took when killing Eko opposed to its other forms and what the other forms were. -Nothing really mind-blowing but its written by Darlton which is cool, similar to Lost: The Answers.
I tried to do this with my PS3 but never saw any little blue circle that the poster spoke of. Is this something that requires the Blu Ray 1.1 profile update that it seems we PS3 owners will be able to get tomorrow, or is the poster just blowing "smoke" so to speak?
