Blade Runner: The Final Cut - Page 5

Thanks, man. I always have the worst luck with that site.

Maybe he knows how much I dislike him.
That's it!

He has a DFNYC firewall up for new my 2 cents columns....!

The new stuff sounds pretty cool and even though I was kvetching about WB not giving HD buyers a choice, I will definitely be getting the whoopie doopie 5 disc set. It will be an Xmas present, I imagine!

Apparently the retail will be $99.
So with amazon and +10% discount, maybe $60

Where did you get that info from?

$99 for which version - BD only or BD Ultimate Collector's Edition?
There's only one set offered for BD and HDdvd. The 5 disc whoopie version! It had BETTER come with the case for that bloody price!

The press release as displayed on www.thedigitalbits.com indicated 4 HD versions:
  1. BD 5 discs only
  2. HD-DVD 5 discs only
  3. BD 5 disc "whoopie" version
  4. HD-DVD 5 disc "whoopie" version
Maybe *that* was incorrect, but that's definitely what it said.

The section I'm referring to is near the bottom of the page.

i cannot believe this.... did i read this correctly? they assembled something resembling a whole alternate cut of the film using exclusively alternate cuts and deleted scenes that nobody ever even knew existed?

i mean... i read that correctly, right? they actually did that?

that's truly astonishing. i feel like i'm on crazy pills, here.
sorry K1. You're right. How much more for the case...?

Wow never seen a box set for a movie that was this elaborate and catered directly to the hardcore fans like this. I'll be writing WB a blank check when this set comes out.

LOL. I'm with you swanlee. 5 BD's plus all of that stuff!! I hope the price isn't too bad, because I'm owning that ultimate collector's edition. I only wish it was going to be available sooner.

It would seem that from a Christmas marketing standpoint, they'd benefit from releasing it a little earlier than 12/18, but they never ask me these things.
Wow! Now i am really excited!
By the way Dave, did they show a comparison shot between the restored dvd and some high def?

Regards
Robert

I wish it was coming out earlier.

Up for pre-order. No amazon discount yet.

Ultimate: $70

Collectors Edition $28

I hope the Blu-ray 5 disc set isn't in a digi-pak. I would prefer an over-sized elite style keep case similar to what Warner did for Planet Earth. Cardboard doesn't age well and I have no desire to buy that over priced brief case that will end up on a shelf in a closet somewhere. I just want my 5 disc set in the thinnest, protective and most unobtrusive packaging possible.

That price is wrong for the cheaper 5 disc set, since they often get specs wrong it's probably the 1 DVD version.

I searched on Warner's site, and it turns out they do indeed have a 1 disc version of it: LINK

I could care less. That's the version I ordered and that's the one I'm getting. I'd get in on it now while you can.

It looks like the case will retail for about $99.95.

The mentioned on The Digital Bits information, that there will be a special pre-order price at Amazon:

DVD $54.99

Blu-Ray $69.95

EDIT: Well, I guess they block Amazon links here, as I cannot get any of them to work properly!

Hmm, wow....im surprised by those prices.....im wondering if they have them wrong and it should be....

Blade Runner Ultimate edition (not priced yet)
Blade Runner 5 disc digipack $69
Blade Runner 1 disc $27

I wonder if they just shifted and dont have the Ultimate price yet....I would have bet it would be more like $140-150.

Oh well, if they are right, those are EXCELLENT prices.

The Ultimate Matrix 5 disc set was retail $120!?!

I preordered the 5 disc at $27 and now will email for the 10% off.

Does Amazon usually honor price mistakes? or cancel orders?
I just ordered the 5 disk for the 27 bucks. Will they add on the 10% later ? I wanted to order before they jacked the price up.
Ok so is the Deckard case 70$, the pricing does seems weird on this I'd figure it would be more than 70$ and the 27$ 5 disc set seems way to cheap.

They honored it for me. A while back, I ordered Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on HD for the BD price even though it was clearly the released date for the BD. I called the woman and she adjusted it back to what it was supposed to be and sent the HD version.

I think I'll wait till the dust settles on all this pricing stuff to pre order, still over 4 months away so there's plenty of time.
Those prices are correct. There is no 1 disc version for HD or BD. The Complete Edition has all 5 discs in the digipack only.. The Ultimate Edition is the same 5 disc digipack inside Deckard's briefcase, with some extra crap like a signed letter from the director (probably the why the price is so high). These prices are the final prices as they reflect WB's own stores prices. If you look at the Ultimate Edition on WB's site it also say Media Quantity: 1. This is because they haven't updated the specs yet. The Matrix was priced so high because it was 3 movies; this is only 1 movie with multiple cuts. These prices are very reasonable, but don't think they are wrong.

Bottom line: Don't worry about price mistakes, because there aren't any.

Hiya Robert! I was actually just quoting the digital bits story! Sorry for the confusion!

Yes, there are price mistakes and WARNER needs to sort it out. It should be $79, not $29 I think. They already removed a few instances of the $29 version. Not sure what's going on over there, and why it filtered down to Amazon. Maybe there is a $29 version, but not sure which right now.
