Wow, such love & respect from a gentleman I've never really even talked to! I'd love to meet you too, and all the fine folks that were there. Mark I've been curious about AV123 products for quite a while and seriously want to hear your stuff sometime soon, it just hasn't been in the cards lately. I wanted BADLY to attend the G2G, but I work Saturdays and had to do a wedding in Philly. It's not easy for me to get out of work since my company is just me and one other guy and we have accounts with some really high end bands.

I'll find a way to make one of these gatherings sometime! I might just have to bust in on Craig midweek sometime soon.

Any chance you could give us your thoughts on the Swan 5.2 and Rocket Bigfoot centers?

Craig has posted recently that he feels the 5.2C and Bigfoot centers are quite comparable and are both outstanding performers. That's about all he's said on the subject. (I'm sure he's wiped out from the weekend and probably perpetually swamped with people asking him questions so I thought I'd save him a bit of typing. )

Thanks for the summary of results, and the initial observations, and more importantly for hosting the event. I can hardly wait for more information, and the view points of even more whom attended. As an audio enthusiast, I can never have too many reviews, comparisons, A/B's, etc. to read through!

As has been said, I was surprised of the favorable comparisons the Acculines received. Jon has posted on his site how he really likes them at their price point, and now we have another view (from a crowd of audio people) supporting that. I have been researching a 5.1 set to put in a smallish room for video gaming, and will have to add Acculine's to my tryouts.

For those of you ....concerned about the price difference between the 6.2s and the 850s, MLS announced a blowout sale on the rockets. FPB posted the links on another thread on this. 850 for $999!

i was pretty much down to the d2.1se's (but still wrestling with idea of sierra-1's) when i saw the onix discounted to $500. how do these compare to the others? i'm not in a position where i can audition all of them at the same time, so wanted others opinions.

Notice that the Onix Ref 1 is $500 if you buy another speaker. You could get the matching center for $350. $2000 worth of speakers for $850 plus shipping.

I am also curious as to how the Ref 1 and Swan D2.1se's compare. Anyone heard them side-by-side?

i did notice that. i'm hoping to find someone who's interested in another pair that would want to go in with me. i don't need a center channel as this is going in an office as part of a stereo set-up. of course that's dependent on how they sound. seems like no one has compared them to the sierras or the d2.1se's. i pm'ed craigsub and he said, "For $500, they are an absolute steal. Yes, the Sierras and Swans are overall a better performer, but now that Ref 1's are half the $$$$ ... it is a pretty easy call." i'd just love some other people to describe what makes the other two better performers.

From what I read (but have not heard myself), the ref 1 doesn't go as low as the sierras or swans but matched with a good subwoofer, you got something as good.

that's great. i was thinking at this price i could match them with the acculine sub and come out ahead.

if anyone wants to go in on an order, plz pm me. i'm only interested in 2 channel right now, but have to order at least 3 speakers. i want the ref 1. i could buy something else and put it up for sale, but this would save me the hassle.

Still holding breath waiting for info on the Acculine towers.... with all this talk of the deals on the Rockets and Swans it's getting very difficult holding off, but want to hear feedback on the Acculines first.

Man if the 850s came in black I'd be tempted to jump at that price

I see furniture places do that...seems like it would be a nobrainer for some speaker manufacturers. They'd just have to have a no return after stained clause. Knock off 100 and I'll stain it myself to match my crap...does anyone do this?

All of this talk and the strength of the Canadian dollar has me excited about the D2.1SE. Can someone comment on if this speaker is aided by a sub, or if they can stand alone on their own in music applications? It sounds like you don't really need a sub for the Ascends...

Also, how does this speakers compare to the larger Diva towers? Based on price, I'd assume the 2.1 is the "better" speaker, at the sacrifice of low end and high volume capability.

Lastly, does anyone have any high res shots of the 2.1? I'd like to see what the finish quality is like.

I saw the 2.1s in person this past Saturday. Trust me, even the high res shots don't do them justice. IMHO, they are STUNNING!

I'm a little confused now but first, thank you for all the testing. It has narrowed my choice down to some very fine excellent value speakers. Here I am about to shell out 2000 dollars for the 805s at the beginning of the summer until I discovered all these small named speakers!

You mentioned the group favored the sound of the Dana 630 to the BW805s but in the pictures, the 930 is shown standing next to the Sierra-1 and Swan 2.1SE. So in the initial A/B test, was Dana 930 tested vs the 805s or the Dana 630?

If the Dana 630 is even comparable to the BW805s, I'll be more than happy to order them and demo. I'm completely floored by the A1's result. T

Lastly, where are you guys ordering the Dana 930's from? TAI?

I already covered the Dana confusion in detail earlier in this thread.

Craig had both the 630s and 930s in-house, but as he explained, the tests included only the 630. Of course I'm disappointed that the absolutely incredible 930s weren't included in the testing, but I'm not complaining as I know it's impossible to cover everything in one day, and he had SO many speakers in the house... He did such a fantastic job by all accounts and I'm truly disappointed that I couldn't attend.

That said, I don't know why he didn't include the 930s, unless he meant to but they just didn't get to them. Or possibly he felt they would obviously, utterly destroy everything else in the room so why bother including them? (Or maybe he just wanted to keep them all to himself, the selfish lil jerk? Lol )
