What do you recommend ?

Hi,

I will soon make the jump to HDTV. It'll be mainly used for playing games so I'm towarding more to LCD, Plasma isn't out still. A secondary but important objective is to make it a computer extender and watching movies.

I have a 360 Premium and I need a screen between 40 and 46 inches. I don't really need a Full-HD TV, my 360 only do 720p/1080i, but it seems it's in all new tv models !

Finally, my budget isn't over the top, 2000 $ everything included.

I've heard that Samsung are doing pretty good LCDs and Plasmas

Here's what I've found:

LCD: Samsung LN-T4065F

Plasma: Samsung HPT4264 Panasonic TH-42PX77U

There's the Samsung LCD 4061F but the price is almost the same as the 4065F but inferior in quality. And apparently the new Sharp models aren't amazing.

So, do you have any suggestions or advices ?

Inferior in quality? lol Where do people get this crap?

They're virtually identical sets. 61F has a matte panel and the 65F has a gloss panel. The other differences in stats are negligible though you will find people who disagree. I didn't like the glare of the 65F so I went with the 4061F and got it for under $ 1500 total.

And the price may be similar in a retail store but online you will find the 4061F about $ 200 cheaper. When I bought my 4061F it was just under $ 300 cheaper. It's worth it in my opinion. I have a decent amount of light in my TV room most of the time, from daylight to a room lamp.

Yes the 65F's glare doesn't affect every 65F owner but it affected me. And to be fair, some people complain about off axis viewing angles with the 61F because of the matte panel. But it doesn't affect me. Everyone's experience will be different though.

Go into the Official Owner's threads for the sets you are looking at. You'll get actual information instead of bogus claims from people telling you virtually identical sets vary in quality. lol
