Mickelodeon Theater Guess I will begin

So as many of you know I have been working on my theater for over a year and waited to post a thread, well we are in the home stretches now of at least the theater proper so I figure I will start posting the thread now, some of you have seen various pics in some other threads along the way, but this will be the official thread.

Edit to add particulars of finished room:

the room dimensions are 19' by 14.5' overall, 91" high.
the faux wall comes out 24" into that 19', the stage [in front of screen] is 144" wide by 62" deep.
Distance from Projector lens to screen surface is exactly 16'
Screen is 120" x 51" 2.35:1 aspect Smx acoustic screen.
my seating is first row 9.5' from screen, second row 12.5' from screen

EQUIPMENT CURRENTLY IS:
Optoma H77 720p projector
Panamorph UH380 lens self made slide.
REVEL front L & R M22's plus REVEL C52 center, sides are REVEL S 30's plus REVEL B12x2
all three fronts are behind the Smx screen.
4 Bass shakers in riser, riser height is 15"
Lexicon RV8 Receiver
Toshiba A20 HD DVD player
Panasonic BD 10a Blu ray DVD player
Monster power conditioner
Lights controlled by Lutron Maestro system.
seats are Concorde rocker theater seat anatomical model in Mauve

Moving along:
looking into what will become the concession area and equipment room and you can see the mock ups for the seating.

Here we have an early shot of the pre existing stage area that is a closet on the left of picture. window being walled up and on the right you can see what will also be walled up but what ill become the media room which you will enter from the concession room

Thought I just posted this but I don't see it, so here it is again, picture of my faux screen wall and wall behind it now that window is gone and before I cover it in black velvel and put up the Smx screen.

Here we have screen wall covered in stretch velvet and Smx screen in place. screen is 120" by 51" 2.35:1 aspect.

Here we have my riser carpeting, notice that it is a purple pattern while my aisle is a deep blue.

this is the right side of the theater looking toward the concession area through curtain at this point , doors not up yet. The circle stenciling is really a mauve color that matches the seats even though it looks white here, and you don't see it at all when the theater lights are out.



This is my left wall just beyond picture is the back where you enter the theater.

This is a close-up of my sconces with stained glass light bulbs in them.


Here is my equipment area, not done yet, we made rotating shelves for the components.

So that is the Micklodeon Theater so far. It is as you can see an Art Deco theme and there will be more to come, including the concession area, media area and eventually the long hall leading to the theater, but I figured I would go ahead with showing what I have now.

They are each on a lazy susan so they would rotate completely except for the wiring of course.

That would be the one in the baseball cap at the far end. LOL or Capt. Jack. He made the pictures with some program online.

Actually both he and the Will turner look alike are artists, Will even more so.
I am the costume maker. They wore them to Disney world to humor me. It was a great trip.

Yup chemical of course, what you can't see in the picture is that just to the left in the picture is the Popcorn machine so it does double duty there.
I have another one right at the theater exit.

The Bass Shakers are ok but it really got much better when I added my second sub and placed it on the platform, adds greatly to the tactile response. Also we will probably replace the bass shakers with platinum Clark Synthesizer. and then use the bass shakers on the first row.

I actually got them from seatsandchairs.com they were used theater seats. and so they no longer have those ones but they have some similiar used ones and other new type.

Mine are the anatomical in a mauve which I think they call heather on the card.

Oh and as to holding up. the seats you see in my theater came out of the theater where they had been for over 7 years.
they rock and they are very very comfortable the arm rests go up out of the way if you like.

There is no problem with bumping heads by anyone in my family, now my son's have a friend who is about 7 feet tall if he comes over some time he is going in the front row. LOL

We have both been interested in someday having a home theater ever since we first saw one in a High end store back several years ago. Then after POTC came out and I went to the theater 42 times to see it till I could not because it was no longer there, I decided I REALLY wanted that home theater.

Then in May of last year I decided to start building it, or rather get husband to start building since I in fact can do very little. The fact we were building a Home theater did I think have some influence on his getting his current postiion, as it showed an interest in the industry. He was not then in that industry.

But while we both share the interest and desire for a theater I was the driving force, [the one behind him with the pitchfork! He he!] that got it going, that is why we named it the Mickelodeon, for McCall.
