[quote=gpshumway]You didn't state a budget or screen size, but a 40-50 foot throw distance is going to be tough. Either you need an extremely long throw lens or you will end up with a huge screen which requires tons of lumens to fill. A 5000 lumen projector would light up a 21x15.8 foot 4:3 unity gain screen with 15 foot lamberts, which should be bright enough. Such a screen would require a projector with a 3:1 throw ratio, which is on the long side, but not out of the question. Technology (LCD vs. DLP) is less important here than lumens and throw. If your budget allows consider a 3 chip dlp with the proper throw ratio. The Panasonic D7700 comes to mind. You also didn't mention an aspect ratio. Do you need widescreen?
Widescreen is not needed. It will basically be Office Documents up on the screen. I know it is a far distance. I appreciate your help guys. I am not that familiar with projectors. The projector is up above some cabinets. There would be no people in the way. Price is obviously a concern. They don't want to spend more money then they need to. I will look at the projector you suggested. I was thinking it would be more practical to hang a LCD tv on the wall, and get a wireless transmitter to send the data. I am thinking that a projector may not be the best fit in this room. The projector is at one end, and the screen as at the other end. Seems a long distance for me.
