DTS-HD MA and current Receivers/Players - Page 7  

Thanks 7point - I was just being simplistic in the quick explanation. Main pointer was that the old DTS HR stuff was renamed DTS HD HR and that it is different to the DTS HD MA.

I am dying to get some receivers with the DTS HD HR/MA decoders, tho. I've seen a couople discs I want to audition.

RDJAM - what i was also clarifying was that the HR was not renamed. its actually very different from the dts 96/24 and ES - in that it goes up to 6 MBps compared to the 1.5 mbps and also up to 7.1.

btw - 6 Mbps is more than enough to reach lossless-"ness" on your typical 48k film - that's not too shabby.

DTS 1.5mbps core better than any other audio format you've heard? Oh well.

I cannot believe this discussion has gone on for as long as it has trying to convince these simple people that it is just not possible to get MA at this point, nor can you get HR from MA. Know when to admit you are wrong, you'll look like less of a fool.

So much discussion on this thread for no good reason. The DTS web page starts out with the statement:
"You can enjoy DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio if you have a new Blu-ray Disc or HD-DVD player with a DTS-HD Audio decoder built into the player. The audio will be decoded inside the player and passed to the receiver in two different ways."

The above statement includes the condition "IF you have a new...." Perhaps this could have been made more clear if DTS would have said "....if, and only if, you have a new Blu-ray Disc or HD-DVD player with the corresponding type of DTS-HD Audio decoder built into the player" This condition in the DTS statement is not met for any of the current generation of players as far at DTS-HD-MA is concerned. However, certain new players announced for this fall will support the internal decoding of DTS-HD-MA and for these players the DTS statement could apply.

I couldn't agree more. I gave up on this thread days ago.

The fact is you cannot decode DTS-HD-MA with a DTS-HD decoder.
I tried to get the moderators to shut this thread down but they refused to. I was hoping it would eventually disappear off the front page thread list but the OP keeps bumping it.

This thread has so much misinformation it should be deleted forever. This thread only continues to confuse those who may be trying to understand the harsh reality behind the DTS-HD-MA codec.
