I will post my settings as soon as I find a resolution to my minor green push.

If you have any non calibration related questions please go to the original LX177 thread below and post them there. Thanks!

Yes, all of you out there, lets get this green push resolved and maintain the integrity of the colors etc. We need everyone to participate.

Here are some settings I got yesterday using a Sony DVP-ns75h Upscaling 1080i dvd player using component and hdmi:
Component:
Contrast 64
backlight 65
dynalight off
brightness: 56
color 48
tint 0
sharpness 37
advanced:
Dynamic Contrast off
static gama 0
color temp warm
vertical edge off
clear frame on
film stabilization off
Color master pro:
red 0,-3-9
green 0,+5,-5
blue 0,0,0
yellow 0,+1,+7
magenta 0,-1, -10
cyan 0, +1, -2

With these component 480p settings I've noticed a bit of green push in the lowest 2% video blacks of the test disc DVE on the pluge pattern. HDMI doesn't have this problem

HDMI settings
contrast 57
backlight 65
dynalight off
brightness 59
color 45
tint 0
sharpness 37
Advanced: dynamic contrast off
static gama 0
color temp medium blue drive0 green drive 0
vertical edge off
cinema mode film
clearframe on
film stabilization off
color master pro
red 0,-2,-7
green 0, +4, 0
blue 0,0,0
yellow 0,0,+4
magenta 0,-3,-2
cyan -0, -3,0

I didn't notice any green push in the 2% video black over hdmi. The component quality also looks as good as the hdmi, making me belive that the provessing in the set is really good. With this same dvd player, on an LG 32" LCD at work, component is noticeably inferior. When outputting component at 480p with this player, I'm unable to put the player in native mode. Native works fine with hdmi at 1080i. 480p must not be able to do native (or it'd be really tiny on the screen? This does cause a 2-3% overscan compared to the native mode of hdmi which looks to be zero overscan.
I watched a bit of Aliens and couldn't tell the difference between the two images, other than the overscan. I also didn't see any of the green push when watching actual content.

I have a feeling all these sets are different coming out of the factory. My green is set to 0,-15, 0 because I felt it was overly saturated. I was using my laptop and desktop LCDs as a refrence point looking at screen shots of Castlevania on XBox 360.

Great, lets try to keep this one on topic of calibration of our TVs as much as possible. bpmurr, want to update your post with a link to the original thread link to direct all questions and topics that are not related to calibration accordingly?

My post from the other thread:

I just got my set (46LX177) last night, and did some rough calibration with DVE. The set had some green push to it, but I was able to mostly get it out with the DVE software. My settings (very rough, please comment on):

Mode: Preference
PICTURE SETTINGS:
Contrast 100
Backlight 100
Dynalight On
Brightness 55
Color 45
Tint +8
Sharpness 50
ADVANCED SETTINGS
Dynamic Contrast High
Static Gamma 0
Color Temp Cool
Vertical Edge Enhancer High
ClearFrame On
Film Stabilization Off
COLORMASTER PRO ON
Hue, Saturation, Brightness for each separated by commas:
Red 0, -3, 0
Green 0, +2, 0
Blue 0, +4, 0
Yellow 0, 0, +8
Cyan, 0, -4, -4

I would greatly appreciate any comments, opinions, etc about this. I did this pretty late at night so if it is off then just blame me being tired

Interesting settings you have there. Pushing the tint +8 creates even more of a green push for me. Also raising the saturation +2 would make it worse on my set as well. However the one difference I see is your starting from cool where I'm using warm. Did you not even mess with the Blue or Green drive?
I didn't mess with the green drive, and got pretty good results (at least that is what the color filters from DVE tell me lol). I'm going to be messing with them more this weekend, will keep you posted.

I'm going to compare these settings with Teepanen's settings and see which works best for my set. Teepanen, I'd love to get the updated settings that you said you tweaked (from the older ones).

This might sound stupid but what screen do you use the filters with? I find navigation on that DVD to be a pain.
Not a stupid question at all. Heck, I might even be using it on the wrong screen lol.
Navigate to Title 12, Chapter 6, "Color Bars w/Gray Reference"
The one I use is this one:

Actually, the settings I posted above are the ones I still use for PS3 blu-ray playback. However, my SA8300HD settings are a bit different with less contrast and color and a few other things. I mostly used Discovery HD as a reference for the latter.

I also got my hands on an Avia disk. Will try and post some results this weekend.
That would be awesome, thanks!
Alright, played a bit with Avia. Unfortunately, I do not have the color filters. So just set the white (contrast), black (brightness) and sharpness.

FWIW:
Contrast: 100
Back Light: 54
Bright: 53
Sharp: 55

But in the end, I tried to watch a BD like this and quite frankly decided that it was not for me. Maybe, I just don't know how to use it, but to my eyes I still prefer my settings that I posted earlier in this thread.
Anyone still calibrating out there? My friend just got the 42LX and he asked me to do some tweaks, but I'm a bit reluctant without some more feedback. I've yet to see the set, but may make it over there some time this week. He sounds very satisfied.

It seems like you are having the same issue I am having with DVE. When you adjust it the way they tell you too something doesn't seem right.

well, i have the 46, not the 42, but i am still using Teep's primary settings (contrast, brightness, etc) as a starting point, then slightly modifying to my particular set (colormaster, and +/- 1 or 2 points here and there in the primary settings). and i am extremely happy. so this must mean one of two things: i have obvious green push but cannot see it or i do not have noticeable green push. either way, i am good to go. i feel sorry for all the bashers of this set. as in, i wish they could see my set prior to making their judgments. this is the best 46" (both plasma and lcd) set that can be purchased at a big box for under 3k, in my most humble opinion.

I feel you. There seems to be a lot hostility in the main thread lately. Perhaps we start a Green-Free LX thread?

I talked with the toshiba representative and He said to me that there will be an update in september so you can go in the service menu of the tv and change settings to get rid of the green.

all the infos will be on the website I think

Will it be an actual update to the firmware of the set OR just a posting by Tosh as to how to eliminate the Green Push using the service menu? If it's an actual update to the set, how will the update be distributed? Can a user do it themselves or will a call to a service dealer be needed? I doubt Tosh will start telling their customers to monkey around with the service menu.

This is a good start, but we need more info, Piquit! If this is true, I may go ahead any buy the 57 like I planned.

MODS: If you want to keep this thread free of discussion not directly related to calibration settings, feel free to move this over to the main LX board.

Might be a good idea. Hopefully I will be there once I am green free. I am not bashing the set, i.e. I love everything about it, except for the push....and in my case, I know I am justified bashing the push. However, I know it can be tiring for others with green free sets, who want to move on and talk about other aspects of the set, to have to wade through all the problems. So, a green free lx thread may be the ticket.

Yeah, definately they will not let you go into the service menu. Piquit, see if you can find more info. please.

Sooooo, who is going to be the hero and get their set ISF calibrated and post all the settings here?

We should start a collection and then put names in a hat and have that owner get it. Assuming they promise to share and not pull a scamps on us.

How about I just volunteer for this and collect donations to get mine calibrated? I promise I will pull no scamps. But seriously, seems like Robert is our best bet at this point, even though its a 52.

Well, the only problem with that is some have the push and some don't,,,,,,and the push may remain after the calibration. I almost think we have to get some response from Toshiba first with a firmware update to fix the push, then we can have it calibrated. I know I wont spend the money until the push is fixed, as I don't want to have wasted the money by loosing the calibrations after the firmware is introduced (if it ever is). sooooooo........ at this point, it would probably have to be someone who has a relatively green free set.

I guess it would make sense whenever we post calibrations here to specify how much green push we had prior to calibration.
I guess if we get an "official" report from Robert's shootout, we can find out if the calibration eliminated the green or if he got any answers to the questions a few of you had.
