Here are some settings I got yesterday using a Sony DVP-ns75h Upscaling 1080i dvd player using component and hdmi:
Component:
Contrast 64
backlight 65
dynalight off
brightness: 56
color 48
tint 0
sharpness 37
advanced:
Dynamic Contrast off
static gama 0
color temp warm
vertical edge off
clear frame on
film stabilization off
Color master pro:
red 0,-3-9
green 0,+5,-5
blue 0,0,0
yellow 0,+1,+7
magenta 0,-1, -10
cyan 0, +1, -2
With these component 480p settings I've noticed a bit of green push in the lowest 2% video blacks of the test disc DVE on the pluge pattern. HDMI doesn't have this problem

I didn't notice any green push in the 2% video black over hdmi. The component quality also looks as good as the hdmi, making me belive that the provessing in the set is really good. With this same dvd player, on an LG 32" LCD at work, component is noticeably inferior. When outputting component at 480p with this player, I'm unable to put the player in native mode. Native works fine with hdmi at 1080i. 480p must not be able to do native (or it'd be really tiny on the screen? This does cause a 2-3% overscan compared to the native mode of hdmi which looks to be zero overscan.
I watched a bit of Aliens and couldn't tell the difference between the two images, other than the overscan. I also didn't see any of the green push when watching actual content.
