Picking up a 360, Elite $100 better than premium?

I believe the Elite PCB was upgraded to not only include HDMI but to also make it more reliable.

In the future you'll want that 120 GB of HD space.

if you are even thinking HD stuff get the Elite. I filled 30gig on mine really quick with a couple of movies and lots of demos.

Definitely worth the extra money IMO! Especially if your TV/PJ has HDMI inputs, the DVD playback is much improved....

Seriously, I hardly make use of more than a few GB of drive space at most when I have a couple demos I want to keep around, and I doubt that will change much durring the life of the 360.

DVD upconverting, 120 gigs of space and the fact that black matches the rest of my theater components makes my Elite well worth the extra dough. Just out of curiosity, what HD content are you streaming, I hear this all the time and can't think of anything I would stream. What am I missing ??

It all depends on your situation:
VGA vs HDMI depends on your display. VGA supports resolutions you don't get via HDMI and VGA is almost never overscanned wheras HDMI and Component almost always are. You can always buy the VGA cable for the Elite, but...
...Black vs White is a matter to taste...
20GB vs 120GB depends on your needs; if you are going to stream you probably won't be ripping your CDs to the 360 so the only big space eaters are TV downloads. You going to do a lot of that?
For that matter, does the kind of gaming you do require the HDD?
Streaming doesn't need it.
Oh, and DVD upconverting works fine through VGA.
$100 is two games' worth or an extra 100 GB of storage.

Try to pick up the elite on a store employee discount then it wont really be that much more . I know the elite motherboard had a couple more heatsinks and a better design although I dont know if they switched all 360s to this build model, I compared the HDMI picture to the component picture and there was a little more sharpness with the HDMI and it is easier to run the HDMI cable because it isnt proprietary like the xbox components, and it was only 80 more bucks retails so I decided to get it over the premium. At the end of the day they are both going to do the same thing, play games if you want the huge HDD, black case, and HDMI go for it, I really enjoy mine, and everytime I get on Live I yell "My xbox is Black" which always entertains me at least.

Ditto... if your tv has HDMI the elite is a must.

It's essentially the same hardware with the addition of HDMI and a larger HDD.

I personally went for the Elite. Not so much for a pq increase but because

1) HDMI to my AV receiver so less wires
2) 120GB GD since I love these XBLA games (I think I have 30 now) and since I download and keep all the add on content for my games as well as a bunch of HD trailers, Music videos and Demos.
3) Charcoal system color

As someone who continually finds himself having to delete files to free up HD space I say go with the Elite for the hard-drive alone.
