HD-DVD "Commercial" on discs...

Folks -- this is making me nuts. A few of my discs have a "HD-DVD is so COOL" commercial at the beginning that I cannot skip over. There has to be a way that I can watch Superman Returns without watching that 3 min clip each time.

Please enlighten me.

Don't have that disc but every disc I have chp -> skips it.

Funny to me is why they have it on the HD DVDs - I already own a player? (or else I couldn't see this, right?)

Simply press the "next chapter" button on your remote. Skip right past it no problem.

It's a promo thing just like DVDs used to have back in the day.

Yes................but they're promoting something I already own

Better idea - put the promos on DVDs, promote to those who haven't bought?

As Capek mentioned, hit the "chapter skip" button.

That would be the >>| button.

Most early releases had this bumper, I watched it once or twice and now skip it automatically as soon as the blue screen pops up.

Just like they're promoting DVD to DVD owners back in the day.

good news: as mentioned above, chapter forward should skip over those ads.

better news: none of my more recent titles have had those ads on startup.

Are the movies just supposed to start right away? It seems there is no static menu?

I've only watched Batman Begins so far, still learning...

Some do, some don't. Just a stab but IIRC Warner seems to go straight to the movie - Paramount seems to give a menu.

Best answer, some do & some don't. (I prefer the later - the menu system can be accessed while the movie runs = no real need for a menu)

Still don't think it makes a lot of sense though

Look at it as a "feel good" ad.

I think some Universal DVDs have this already.

Luckily Warner seems to have done away with this promo. Cool the first time you see it, annoying every time after that.

It is a good idea for movie nights when a bunch of friends come over that haven't seen HD-DVD.
