Can someone that owns an Empire do me a favor. Can you play the following track from Youtube, I'm just curious how it is sounds. I've got one on order, but just curious how this track sounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mA-6mrYypU

Just tried it and it sounds ok. I've got dual empires but I watched it through my PS3 browser which is closer to a mobile browser than a real one. The Empire is an awesome sub I don' t think there are many people disappointed with it's performance:dollar ratio. When I listen to CD's or my own digital music the Empire is very impressive.

I have a legend and listen to dubstep bout everyday and it sounds pretty good.. I couldn't imagine what the empire sounds like..

Well I finally got a reply back from Epik. It only however touched on 1 of the few inquiries I submitted.

It just blows... Shouldn't be that hard to get the right answers to the questions. Based on the response, I still can't commit to purchasing.

What were your questions? Maybe someone in this thread can give you some insight.

HI all,

Just moved to the UK and everything was going well for about a month on the empire, but the last few days the sub makes a really loud POP right in the middle of playing music or movies. No sound when I turn it on or off, just randomly a massive thud in between. I have tried switching the cables and so far it has not helped it. The sub works fine otherwise, both drivers moving, still putting out good bass, but that loud pop is scaring my wife lol...any ideas what may be wrong?

it happens with random cds/blus/dvds. I have dual subs, when I turn off the empire, my other sub does not make a thud sound at all. They are connected witha Y-splitter. I still have to try it when the empire is alone on the amp, time is limited today...

p.s. have tried the UK cable supplied with the sub, as well as the original one on an adapter.
Thanks in advance,

The amp is shot. I guarantee that is the problem. Mine first did that random pop then it went to a continuing thump. Contact Chad he will send out a new one. Good luck.

Thanks John!
I have sent a mail to Lsound.no, the EU distributor, hopefully they can send out a new one asap, with minimum fuss

Cheers,

Anybody wanting to sell their Empire? I'm looking for a second and ready to buy...

Check Audiogon.com. One is currently listed.

I think you're right Fanta, does anyone know if the Epik warranty is transferrable to new owners?

Epik does not have a transferable warranty on its products.

Sold mine for $550. Would definitely pick that up if it was local for $550. Mate it with my ULS-15. Miss that mid-bass.

So both the seller and prospective buyer of an Empire?

Yea I looked into it and apparently he either wants to sell his or add a second...at the same time lol.

But anyways I just noticed the username at audiogon was identical.

I don't know, just seems kinda scary not having a warranty on a used Empire. A replacement amp for it runs about $325.00 doesn't it???

Scary if you don't factor in the cost of the replacement. You just have to price it accordingly. Mine was over a year old as well.

I am equally impatient, probably more so. I don't think he wants to pay full price for a second Empire.

Yes, I've been going back and forth with the possibility of going DIY. I really love the Empire so if I could get a second I'd be more than happy. Selling my Empire would allow me to get parts gathered more quickly as I don't have a lot of $ available. But at the same time I'd really like to get as much performance as possible and DIY allows that. Though I'm very much still learning. I've never even built a box but those in the know assure me it isn't very difficult. Yes, I'd prefer to pay less than new.

Quite them dilemma lol. I feel the same way. I'd love to build a box but I have no experience.

I'd sell mines for $650. But we're at opposite ends of FL .

Local pickup only.

I found a 'local' seller over on the CHT board who let me know he would sell his Empire for $600 local pickup only. I was obviously interested so I asked where exactly. He's in Tampa. That's a looong drive there and back and a lot of gas $$. But he said if he could travel up here, it wouldn't be for a few weeks and I'm sure I would need to compensate him. Still not sure what I want to do.

Try building a speaker first. I purchased a busted Boston VR1 tower speaker so that I could convert it to a center speaker. I purchased the cabinet and parts online. It was such a friggin headache. I did complete it but the finish was terrible and the sound was muffled. If you have a woodworking shop then you should have no problem with the cabinet. The actual engineering that goes into finished products is another story. DIY can really test your patience. Never again.

Get the second Empire if you can afford it.

Gov....sorry, I'm a little late to the party. However, as another Phoenix owner, I inserted a Legend for a little mid-bass "hump". Makes a nice upgrade (and saves a little jack over dual 18 sealed sub).

Was just regarding warranty and local pick-up for customers north of the border who are interested and want something from this company. The only thing I was informed about really was who ships what sub and that local pick-up can be made available if requested. I wont lie... after the 2+ week wait for a reply, while I did appreciate the response given their circumstances, the reply did not answer anything.

I really don't think a pair of Epik subs will ever make it into my setup even though it's my #1 selection based on room size and space for the subs to go.

Let's hope they get the shipment soon. The empire product page still says mid October.
