If that works anything like our company's conversion to a new phone system, we're still experiencing issues months later...

Its been almost 2 years since I bought the Phoenix and up until last week, it wouldn't turn on. Switched it on and off. Plugged it out from the wall and plugged it back in. I have no experience with subwoofers so I need your guys help to try to figure out if there is anything else I can do from my part. If not I guess I will hit up epik and see if they could help me.

Please helppppppp. I need BASS for movies!!

Try another power cable. When I had my Dragon, the power cable failed and I used another on from a printer.

If the Phoenix has it, check the fuse on the IEC socket where the cord plugs in.

Hello everyone,

My Conquest died and I can't get any help from Chad or anyone at Epik Subwoofers. I have been emailing them and calling them for over three weeks now. No one will answer my emails or return my calls.

I cut the power to the subwoofer while on vacation. When I returned I plugged it back in and heard a thump thump thump. I un plugged it and then plugged it back in and heard the same thing then heard a loud metallic type sound and the amp is dead. I checked the fuse at the plug insert and the fuse is fine. I unscrewed the amp from the cabinet, but can't pull the amp out. Before trying to pry the amp out of the cabinet I decided to ask Epik a few questions. I assume that the amp might be caulked in or something like that since it should be air tight.

I'm thinking of removing the amp and some how check it out. Maybe I should also take an Ohm measurement on the subwoofer leads to check the resistance of it. Does anyone know what that shoud be? I think if I don't get any reading that means the voice coil is open (fried). Right?

I really like this subwoofer and need to get it back up and running. I thought that Epik would talk me through this and sell me a replacement amp or what ever I need. I guess I was wrong.

Any ideas would be helpfull.

Are you working at Epik? I have been trying to order some subs to Norway but have not got an answer.
I have 4x Epik empire subs, and know someone who also whant the same setup. Hope you understand my writing... BR Roy

No, sorry, was commenting on someone else who mentioned Epik had changed phone system. Karen@epik used to post in this thread but it's been a while since I've seen one. They can get behind on emails, they're not a huge company (actually I know of some huge companies that you definitely won't get an answer by email from now that I think about it). I've had best luck calling in the morning (my time, they're two hours ahead of me).

Are you kidding me? Trust me,they aren't around. Don't tell me they can't get back to people. They just up and left us all on an island. My legend works great,but I was trying to order and empire or 2. What company turns that down? I just got a Power sound XV15 and it destroys the legend. Plus they email you back asap,and they are active on the forums.. There is absolutely no excuse for no contact from Epik whatsoever! I'd never order from them again and I will not recommend them. Feels way too much like Elemental designs..

Goat1, hope you're not right about them having closed or something. It wouldn't surprise me in this economy though. I'm not liking the reports of no return calls/emails either, but a couple of months ago I read similar but really had little trouble getting a hold of them to resolve an amp problem. Did you actually place an online order and it went unfulfilled?

Exactly. We heard the same things about eD before they went out of business. There is NO possible excuse for not getting back to your customers. I've called and left a message and emailed them and I have yet to hear from them and my sisters Legend amp hasn't worked for weeks. I knew I should've never told her to get one and just gone with a Rythmik. Lesson learned.

I ordered my legend from Chad on the phone. We had a nice long talk about customer service because I also own a company. I have called 5 times and emailed 3 times and nothing. You can't make it up,the guy is going on about how much of a big deal customer service is and not even a peep from them,only some BS about their phones getting changed over.. I'm thinking they are going under or already did.

3 weeks from carrier change, and you can leave voice mail. No reponse after 2 voice mail and emails. I think there going under. I myself would like to order 2 empires and have questions about the subwoofer. Since customer service cannot be reach I might as well just get SVS SB13 ultra and have peace in mind about customer service and support.

Has anyone posted on their Facebook page? I did about a month ago and got a quick reply. I'd be curious if they answer it or delete the comment like Elemental Designs was doing towards the end...

wow....i know it's a little premature, but it certainly is acting at least like there are issues going on with Epic. glad i went with SVS.

I haven't needed to contact Epik for over a year or 2, looks like the majority of the recent posters have very few posts here at AVS. Any other AVS members with more posts been having ahard time contacting Chad and crew the past couple of weeks?

So your current situation and opinion about their business is based on some call/email asking for a special deal on changing your mind from a Legend to an Empire after two weeks and want a deal since you're such a loyal customer?

Is there something wrong with that? To me,its not good business to leave your customers out in the cold. All he has to do is put an update on his webpage. It really isn't that hard.

@htfanboi1200, why don't you try calling and email epik? I'm just sayin they don't respond. We had a switchover from deltacom to Att, 4 lines rolling, T1 and 3 lines fax only took 4hrs and were up and running. 3 weeks, you kidding me. How can you run a business like that especially on an internet based company.

Epik is about 20 minutes from me, I will see if I have some time this week and take a ride over there, Yes, this silence is very strange and concerning!

Epik has issue with the amps and *Flashback*..... so did ED Subs.

Now no phone calls or e-mail back to existing customers. Heck probably not even to new customers (lol)!!!

I would red flag Epik Subwoofers right now as their foot steps are following the same procedures as ED Subs did.

Buy a sub from either of the big "3" : HSU, SVS or Velodyne

New company PSA are the new folks on the block and their reputation goes back to the SvS days. So I would give those guys the business over Epik as where this stands at this time. Plus their warranty also is very attractive.

Exactly why I am leaning towards SVS... these small manufacturers make me nervous. What's the point of a great warranty if they aren't around when there's an issue?

I am going to E-mail Epik again, and hope they haven't closed. I have had 2x svs Pc13-ultra and went to 4x Epik empire.
I do not regret. Now I want to help a guy so he also could sell his ultras, and get 4x Empire.

this happened to my phoenix recently. Chad asked me to check the fuse first. The fuse was ok; it was the amp. He sent me a new amp. This was just a few weeks ago.

I would say the biggest difference between Epik and eD now is that at least Epik does not appear to be taking money for orders and then not shipping like eD did. But to be honest, they are not replying to their FB page as well as getting back to existing and potential customers. As an existing Epik Empire "customer" who purchased my system used I have no warranty anyway, but at this point I too would never recommend someone looking to spend money on a new system to spend it with Epik. Way to risky, and unwarranted at this point.

Has anyone placed an internet order for a new sub that has not had their shipment fulfilled? I think some are jumping to conclusions with the recent eD thing which is not the same situation at all. This is a very small company and IIRC they take vacation this time of year, too and close the shop. Patience you internet instant gratification addicts!

Just realized CEDIA 2012 was last week in Indy. Maybe Chad and crew have been busy lately gearing up for the show, Have heard it's a pretty big one. Anybody possibly attended this year?
