Maybe. I'll see if I get the empire first and then decide what my next step is. I think the Legend would do well paired with the Empire. My understanding is the Legend and Empire have a very similar FR curve. The Legend just doesn't play as loud as the Empire.

What sucks is that I very much want to get a second Empire, but I am about to list mine and sell it for an XS30 or a SubM if I can score one on Seaton's forum thats "b-stock" if you will. There was one the other day that was a black oak HP that went for 1750ish shipped because of a slight damage to the box.

Sold my Legend and now a HAPPY owner of DUAL SVS SB13 ULTRA's. Best move I ever made.smile.gif Don't be afraid to make that switch. Not worth dwelling on a company that is already dead. Adios amigos.

Hi All - I have a local guy that is selling an Epik Legend that is in pristine condition - its about 1.5 years old and hardly used. Any concerns about a 1.5 year old legend as far as amp issues go or anything else? Ironically, I couldn't decide on a sub for about the last few months due to my current one getting broken in a move (just a cheap Harman that came with a HTiB setup but I liked it well enough) so just yesterday at lunch I caved in a ordered a Cadence CSX12 - I just found the Epik for sale today after work and now regret the order to Cadence (might see if its not to late to cancel), any regards, just wanted to check if anyone would have concerns with a used Epik with that age on it.

I think the thread is pretty telling. Seems like there are some amp issues and clearly customer service is lacking. So as long as your prepared to deal with the amp yourself it it dies, it seems like a good deal. I would definitely not pay more than $300 for a 1.5 year old Legend.

Were the amp issues that people are having from a certain date range of builds or just random or past certain age? I have only made it through about 50 pages of the thread so far, there are 639 pages! eek.gif

Previously, I made a post where I presented the results from a search of import records or Epik. The records indicated that Epik made one big order consisting of drivers and amps. This suggests to me that all the amps were from a single production run from the company that actually manufactured them.

I saw an earlier post where someone identified Epik's amp manufacturer and they had a 1000 watt version that seemed to have the same dimensions as the stock Empire amp. The Empire cabinet seems really well built.....I'm wondering about the feasibility of changing out the stock drivers and sort of supercharging the Empire. I keep thinking about the Turbo kit that came out for the MFW-15.

I don't see why this would not work. As long as you have the dimensions of the box it would be easy to model using this:

Once you know what drivers you are going to use, you can model them. You also don't have to have an internal amp, you could use an external pro amp too.

Hi All. Picked up the used Legend and was playing around with it today. Watched Transformers Dark of the Moon. Noticed by the end of the movie the amp was hot, hotter than i expected almkst uncomfortably so. Is this normal? Should i be worried?

So does anyone have or had recent contact with the owner at Epik, are they done with making subs? Taking a break to create new models?? Theirs is one i was considering but it seems they have nearly stopped doing business altogether.

My Legend amps ran very hot from day one, and that was over 8 months ago.

I am looking to sell my Epik Empires. I have (4) of them. They were all manufactured and picked up directly by me from Chad's shop, September of 2012. They are all in pristine condition and are only used in my home theater. I have never had any issues with any of them. Just interesed in Seaton Sound's Submersive... Please PM if interested.

The ONLY reason I am selling mine is that I came across a deal for a JTR Cap that I simply could not pass up. I love my empire. It is a fantastic sub.
