If Chad drove volume, then it wasn't enough volume on a monthly basis otherwise he'd long since have had new drivers and amps ordered. His prices may indeed be lower than the competition but by the same token they may be too low to generate sufficient income to sustain ongoing operations. To charge more you've got to provide something for that incremental increase and he hasn't demonstrated an ability to do so. I don't think folks hate him but he's moving into a territory that might just be more damaging to him. He's becoming a joke. A punchline. And the thing is, unlike political candidates who become framed by the media, he's framing himself as a person who doesn't keep his word, is difficult to get a hold of, and unable to sustain ongoing operations. It's not a good thing to become a laughingstock.

Most of the subs mentioned here are 2 1/2 - 3X the price of the Empire. I can't imagine Chad drives margin via price, more likely volume. Zero reports of taking $ for subs that weren't delivered. Warranty amps replaced with free shipping, albeit not always timely. Hard-working and honest American running a private company and this is what the poor man has to put up with.tongue.gif

Don't let them break you Chad. Bow to no one. We have your back. biggrin.gif

You posts are almost too much to handle. It's hard to believe that you can't see that Chad is causing Epik a slow painfull death.
Can you tell me how many ID companies on this site don't post on a some what regular basis? As far as I know none, they all post at least in their own threads to some degree. As an ID company word of mouth and main stream social media such as Facebook and forum boards is really the only way to drive sales. Without it you can't generate interest in your products, which would also mean no sales.
Without sales you have no revenue stream. Meaning no money to buy inventory for new products. I could be wrong and Chad could be a millionnaire just doing this for fun.
But at this point his actions are just as bad as putting a noose around the neck of his company and hanging it for everyone to see.

Which truly is a sad sight to see.

Just to be clear, Epik is NOT a one man show. Karen, his wife, has been known to handle the office end, and while there, I saw at least one or two workers in back doing assembly and shipping. Not by any means does this suggest it's a large business by any stretch, but any excuse offered due to being a one man show is incorrect. That said, I have no doubt he's whittled the payroll in a big way during the last 4 month vacation, but just wanted to set the record straight.

I don't disagree with that his model is unconventional, or even risky. I am just struggling to understand why a man who owns his business outright doesn't have a right to do what he wants. Do you know that there are costs associated with carrying inventory, which is probably why he liquidated what he had. If his model relies on volume to drive margin then there will be market saturation at some point. At this point, secondary purchases are not enough to sustain his business. This is why most of the competition is much more expensive and look outside of the US for scale. We all know Epik is a smaller "value-driven" ID company and as such cannot maintain the cost structure(including carrying costs for inventory) as his larger competitors.

None of us said or felt people shouldn't have replacement amps where warranted. It was not about that. If was the distasteful unwarranted personal attacks on the man and his wholly owned company model/strategy that irks me. I hate bullys. I hate people who kick someone who may be down or struggling. That's all.

And yes I would still support him. After all that his said and done, I have never seen him disrespect anyone on this board or read that he did so in person or over the phone. I have an Empire that I love. I appreciate his products. His model may be flawed but so is Apple's, Google, Microsoft, and other titans. It's the ebb and flow of the marketplace.

BTW - Chestnut, I thought you finally figured out the brown-nosing ain't working? Kind of pathetic to be reducing yourself like this in hopes of getting the same service most other vendors provide instinctively. Dude, the lights are out - You can get off your knees already. Ahem.

Sounds like some girlfriend/honey-child lingo. Man up, grow a pair, and converse like a male.

Anyway, what service? My Empire works. I don't care how Chad spends his time. That's his business.

As far as my judgment is concerned... that, along with my integrity, is still 100% intact. If you feel otherwise don't read the reviews.
Yes I have - for the better part of 3 years - but then the "dot com" bust happened and it went down the toilet, like a lot of other technology companies. Having run such a company myself means I have a better prospect of what it takes then most, so I do speak from a position of experience. That's partially why Epik is so confusing to me; it takes forever to build a customer base, why toss it all away.

He's done nothing criminal so you should be more careful and respectful before you throw out lies but then again you, a non Epik owner or fan, has done nothing(like many others here) but sit around and rip a guy who is trying to keep his business going and provide us with great products. Its not all about you and your opinion(CHU's too). I
I appreciate that he's still trying to solve the issues and keep his company going and hope he does.

He hasn't pulled an Ed or AV123 and left his customers holding the bag with no help or warranty support. The time frame and communication sucks, There's no arguing that, and is unacceptable but atleast he's still here and didn't close up shop and bail like the others did.

I have an Empire from a couple months after they came out and have not had a problem with it in any way. No hot amp or issues and when I have needed to speak with Chad I have heard back in a few days from leaving a message, EVERYTIME!

I did have an issue with my Conquest amp after warranty and he replaced no questions asked and paid for all the shipping involved. My father has a Dragon and not had any issues or amp probs and has spoken with CVhad a few times over the past 4 months.
But those are MY/our expeirience and as far as I know all warranty issues have been resolved( if not then thats not acceptable)

The situation sucks but as an Epik owner I am SICK NAD TIRED of ALL YOU TROLLS here annoiuncing the death of Epik and your own persoanl BS. Please go somewhere else and let us Epik owners enjoy our thread with our subs and relieve us of your SH*T!! Move on little school girls and find somewhere else to go and gossip.

If people want to believe and support Epik and Chad they deserve to do so in their thread without the BS and speculation from all of you!!

Aagin I dont approve of his behavior and lack of updates and communication but from my begining here with Epik (5+ yrs) the post holiday shut down is normal but this is the longest its been. Communication during that time has been 50/50.
So like it or not this is part of Chads pattern and the way he runs HIS company and NOT your company so either accept it or dont but dont sit here (wherever you backwards town is) and make up lies and pretend that you have the slightest idea of whats going on as you dont, not about parts or new product or how his company works from the inside or any of it.

So Jim you are a liar, straight up, as nothing indicates that Chad is a thief, as he hasnt stolen anything from anybody (unlike Ed and Av123) and until he does I think you should apologize and kkep your mouth shut until you have some kind of proof to back that up.

Yes my spelling sucks in this but I dont care

Yes I know it takes up capital to have inventory, I'm in sales and distribution in my professional life so I know it all too well. I also know that customers aren't going to be willing to wait months and months for a product and well look else where to buy from, especially with lack of customer service. And just so we're clear, communicating with customers and potenial customers is considered customer service.

You do realize that your whole post comes off as a Epik fan crying "stop picking on Epik". Its an open forum board, if you don't like what's being written don't read it. Simple as that.

It's dangerous to shoot off your mouth when your head is jammed up your butt. It only leads to bad things.

Regarding your allegation that I called Chad a criminal... my EXACT comment was "eD was a joke, and as it turns out a criminal enterprise as well, but it doesn't appear as though Epik has gone to that extreme". What part of that don't you comprehend?

You're the one who should be keeping their mouth shut and apologizing, assuming that's possible with all the crow you're eating.

This is the same stuff the eD fanboys pulled when people complained about that company.

Sorry folks it is not all chocolate and roses for Epik owners. Yes, they seem to get around to dealing with warranty issues once you can get their attention, but clearly there are some huge communications issues with Epik. IMHO, inexcusable communication issues. And many of the excuses I have read are pathetic and rather lame. If you have not shipped any product since November you should have plenty of time to address warranty issues and answer emails and questions. I am also very familiar with the distribution process and it is not good business to have zero products shipping or in the immediate pipeline to ship. Folks, that means no revenue is coming in, and there are bills every month coming to support operations (people, infrastructure, utilities, etc). It is not a smart way to run a business at all and is a huge red flag. If you guys remember eD and AV124, we saw a similar MO.

You have people like ratm that wanted to buy another matching product and were pretty much left high and dry with lame excuses. Not cool. You lost a future sale right there and I wonder how many people who would have bought an Epik sub bought from a competitor? And future customers who read this thread and decide the risk is not worth the reward. Like eD and AV124, Epik has some very good products at good prices, but without the customer support of confidence in the product and company it make is hard to recommend and buy from them. Especially with all the reported amp issues and often poor communications.

At the least update your damn Facebook page and website so, if everything is chocolate and roses and you just wanted to take 4-6 months off to enjoy all the money you made in Q4, then say so.
Since Epik buys their drivers and amps overseas, and they've only made one large purchase that I know of, he has to absorb the cost of inventory. About the only thing he can buy in smaller quantities is the stuff needed to make the cabinets. It's in his best interest to turn over that inventory quickly commensurate with the pricing structure. But seeing as it's been months, I think it;s pretty obvious that he doesn't have the cash on hand in order to have made another order in a timely fashion. Sure, he can run his business any way he wants but as it stands, he's running his business into the ground. As to why he ended the year with closeout specials, my best guess is he had to find new digs.

In Illinois businesses are required to be registered even if your principal location is out of the state. If you go to the Illinois Secretary of State's website, you can search for business entities. Seaton Sound is there but there is no listing for Epik.
I was looking at Epik for my sub but based on the shaky ground this company seems to be on I went with Rythmik. If you just look at the recommendations people make when someone now asks for subs you see Epik being listed less and less.

I couldn't recommend them at this point.

Usually such are historical, at least California's is. You also need to know the specific registered name. If Epik Subwoofers isn't the legal entity and is just a DBA it may not search by DBA. Chu's original research with importgenius.com (think that was what he used) I believe showed a different name. It's also a search by LLC or corporation, not sure if sole proprietors can be searched that way (not sure he is in any case). There are individuals, sole proprietors, partnerships, LLC's and corporations as types of entities usually; the Illinois site says:

The Department of Business Services database includes information regarding corporations, not-for-profit corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies and limited liability partnerships, as well as, other business-related information

This is also assuming he's registered in Illinois. Some states provide for those registered in other states, some don't. I use these kind of sites to vet Customs powers of attorney that I operate under...

Correct on the historical and it's certainly possible Chad used a different name and Epik is just an alias much like ED was registered under a different name. However shipping records did list Epik as the importer.

You don't get it. I can't "defend" him. It's not even proven that those who are owed something haven't been taken care of. He does not owe potential customers anything. That's the nature of business, not the expectation of consumers. Get your priorities straight. There are risks in buying things, you can alleviate some by choices you make as a consumer, some you simply cannot.

Like you speaking for "everyone". You know where you can stuff that. Hopefully you're that smart.
