It would be nice to see how the Tower goes up against the VTF3-HO...

Although the HO was on my short list of possible subs..........i'll be pretty disappointed if the Tower doesn't outperform. I initially wanted to do a semi-DIY Rythmik kit that would perform in the HO range, but I figured with my lack of carpentry skills, it would end up costing me about the same as a delivered HO.

Next step up (cost as well as perormance) from the HO would be your Fathoms, DD18, PB13Ultra. I can't justify the cost of the JLs or Velo, and was really close to going for the new Ultra, but decided to take a leap of faith with Epik. I'm hoping the Castle and/or Tower fit in the same category. Seems possible that the Conquest may create yet another higher tier. Looks like Craig is getting some, so it'll be interesting to get his impressions.

I asked about the weight of the Tower before placing my order and was told 130lbs.

Much better. And I will be showing this to my wife tomorrow. I will have her convinced it is a real sub, that guy is 6 feet tall, and I ordered it today.

unless chad is only 4 1/2 feet tall that picture isn't real. Its only 36" tall.
That picture had me really scared at first (i thought it was real, or to size)
because i am considering buying one and there is no way in the world my wife would let me buy THAT sub.

lol, i was referring to the original one, where chad was at least a foot or so taller.. the other one is much more obviously a fake.

Anyone have any idea if they are planning anything smaller/cheaper than the valor? If they could break the magic 500 mark I think the finance committee veto could get overturned. I'd love to see a 12-13", sealed or ported, wouldn't really matter to me

Edit ... Chad posted the weight. Now .. the hard part, do we love the Conquest for being reasonable for 2 guys to carry ? Or do we laud the A7-900 for costing less than $5 per pound.

We have a lot of unspoken products lined up for future release. Smaller, bigger and even some stuff that you won't believe until you see it. We used to think that we should just wait until they were completely finished and available before we announced them, but not anymore.

I frequently see companies with an entire year wait time or more from product announcement to launch. There have even been products compared directly to ours in this thread that don't exist yet, but still get hyped as if they do. It gives these companies significant amounts of time to market the products online and receive massive amounts of exposure.

We have only announced product when it was ready to sell. We probably will not follow this path any longer because our competitors don't. Imagine how many more people would be waiting for the Conquest if people had known about it for the last 12 months.

However, I am trying to abide by the rules of this forum. It makes sense that you aren't supposed to plug things that far in advance and I will not do so here. It means that you just end up using the forums as free advertising. If we post anything early, it will be on our blog, not on the forums.


The Conquest weighs in right at around 200 pounds, and about 250 when crated up for shipping. It is plenty heavy, but two people can easily move it. In fact, I can move one by myself. I am a lot bigger than the guy in that picture above.


True enough and thanks for being honest. We will have full specs up by this weekend. Weight, and frequency response are the two things people are most interested in knowing. We will have that information up shortly.

That's cool chad, I probably won't be able to order anything until the middle of next month when the overtime check comes in anyway. I'll X my fingers that you'll have announced something new by then.

I would get the HSU VTF-3HO without the Turbo, and get the HSU MBM-12. The additional impact from 50-100Hz is very considerable. There are other products like the MBM-12, however, you could spend twice as much for something similar to the MBM.

Any chance of seeing pics for the raw drivers? I know on the site it looks like just external shots and non of the actual drivers, which from the specs on each sub, the drivers look like they differ across the board in sub cases. Just wanted to see some eye candy of the beasts.

I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the drivers are identical to the Ascendant Audio offerings with lower Mms (via a slightly different cone/dustcap) and less/softer spiders. I can't say that for sure, though. It would be nice to know a bit more about them, though.

Nope. Epik's drivers were designed completely separate from Ascendant Audio. They use totally different motors, coils, gaps, soft parts, etc. All of the Ascendant Audio drivers are currently optimized for car audio and feature a very different different set of design goals in regards to performance, for obvious reasons. The Epik Subwoofer drivers are really quite different.

For example, the Knight and the Caliber for example feature a 2" VC and a triple stack motor. The motor is proprietary and only exists on this product. The same thing goes with the rest of Epik's drivers.

The Tower is ~$1100, while the combo you are talking about is ~$1400. The Tower gets you usable in-room output down to 13-15 Hz as well as higher 20 Hz output than the Hsu. Also, part of the reason we use a 15" driver is so we can achieve very high midbass without the need for a separate module. Even the Knight will get you over 118 dB maximum output measured outside @ 1M.

What happened to the wood finish? Everything in the store appears to be the textured black finish only...

I believe the wood finishes are slated for later release. Textured black is just to get the product out the door to those that don't care.
