It appears that Epik uses FedEx ground for shipping (unless you specifically stated to use another carrier or method?) so you should get them Wednesday more than likely. Thursday at the latest.

I'm expecting my single tower tomorrow I won't be moving into my house until August 1st though so it will be sitting in my office for 2 weeks doing nothing

Are you using 4 knights in one theater room? If so how large is the room, and what main speakers will you be using to keep up with these 4?

I have had a bassy neighbor for 2 years in the apartment below me. I really am tempted to bring the Tower home and blow him out of the water. The only problem I'd worry about is affecting neighbors above, and to the left and right of me. Actually with what I've heard from other Epik owners I might be affecting everyone in the building negatively! Not really something I want to be doing a month before I move out. Would hate to be kicked out now and not have a place to stay for 2 weeks
post #3339 of 20352
I don't know what did it, but 4 weeks ago maybe 5-6 weeks ago, I got my Knight and in between the flooding/really just soggy carpets I moved the Knight downstairs, just slid it down the steps. But now I am going in for my second inguinal hernia surgery in as many weeks on Thursday (well 2 weeks and 6 days). First they did the right , now the left . I don't know what I did to it, I didn't lift the sub at all, just slid it around, placed it just right. EQ'd it by going up and down the stairs about 20 times, going between my recording PC/studio set up, to downstairs where the 1124P is, and back and forth as I did different mic placements. Maybe it was the going up and down the steps literally 20 times in about one hours worth of time, or maybe I stretched to far on one of the steps as I slid the sub down the stairs. I don't know, surgeon doesn't know. All that I know is I want the pain gone, so I can comfortably go up and down the stairs so I can get back to watching movies.

Google inguinal hernia, and learn about it, before you try to lift a Conquest, LOL, by yourself. And gosh darn it, all that I have is a Knight .
to have it and not be able to full use. not even test it out?!?

torture.

sorry to hear bout your pains SRR.

Conquest is addictive - the owners just can't help themselves.

My HT is in the 2,000 cf range and I already have put a 2nd Conquest on my Christmas list.

Conquest is one of the best HT investments possible.

It is unfortunate that more people can't hear them in person.

2 knights are coming home with me and the other 2 to a friends. My room is 3500 cu ft. I think I will have plenty of bass.

That makes much more sense! Let us know what you think of the Knights when you get them.
I will be posting lots of pics from arrival to placement. They are being shipped via global by the way.
Global Shipping has a delivery date of 7/21 which seems kinda long being I'm only 800 miles away from Epik.
I've got a pair of Conquests and I don't think it is overkill. It may look like it, but doesn't sound like it.
does epik still have a waiting list on the conquests?
hey all, ive had a Castle for about 3 months now, and I was wondering if any of you have what seems to be excessive port, cone noise when extreme low frequencies are being played? I only notice it on movies, never music. The reason I ask is because I seem to?! I went from a Sunfire signature sub to this, and I have never owned a ported HT sub. Is this a signature of ported subs? I have it hooked up using the LFE, and my Onkyo 875 crossed over at 120. Thanks in advance for answering. Not really a noob, just don't post much and have never owned a ported sub.
tyson, perhaps the subwoofer is being sent frequencies that is lower than the port tuning?
how do i figure that out?

I wouldn't waste your time trying to figure this out, instead give Chad a call and I'm sure he would be able to answer your questions. Epik's number is listed on their website.

As a side note why do you have the sub crossed over so high? I've rarely found it beneficial to use a frequency much higher than 80hz, and generally prefer a crossover setting of around 60hz if your mains have a -3 db point below 60hz.
I have the av123 MFW-15 dual subs and always wonder how it will be comparing with Castle. Both sound great. Usually most people will buy only one and won't be able to compare them unless their friends have the other one. They are the very closed ones on this forum. I set the crossover at 100 Hz and it sounds better than at 80 Hz. Mark Seaton at av123 said don't be afraid of setting crossover higher than the typical 80 Hz. That's his respons after he read that I set at 100 hz.
I had heard that as well? To cross over higher on the sub as to not have any gap between the mains and the sub. I have atlantic technology 4200's for fronts and 2200's for surrounds. I have the 4200's crossed over at 80hz and the 2200's at 100hz. Really was just curious if this is an issue for anyone else (the port/sub noise) Also, almost sounds like an air leak coming from the driver? I removed the driver before and didn't use the same holes...wondering if some wood filling is in my future?

According to their website (and Chad, when I spoke to him last week), they are shipping 3 to 4 weeks after the order is placed.

Yup this is probably accurate. My Tower shipping date said 2-3 weeks on the website, and it shipped in 2 weeks and 5 days from my order. To be fair it was technically 2 weeks and 3 days though since I placed the order on a Saturday.

Still a newbie here but from what I understand, if you are using the receiver's bass management, you should set the sub's xover to the highest setting. By doing this, essentially you are turning the sub's xover off. On the receiver, set the LFE xover to 120 Hz. The LFE setting is independent of the speaker's xover settings.

Might as well order the Velo SMS-1 while you are at it.

I just received my Tower and I must say I knew this thing was big, but I had NO IDEA how large it really is!! I hope it fits in my living room somewhere!

Pictures do these things absolutely no justice. Only saw one hole in the box itself, but the padding inside was well packaged and there was no cosmetic damage. I'll be hooking it up in about 2 weeks once I get into my house. As of right now there will be no review from me for at least 3 weeks
post #3360 of 20352
Congrats thirdeye! I had to wait several weeks before I got to listen to my Valor but it was well worth the wait. I'm extremely pleased with it and I'm sure you'll be ecstatic once you get that monster hooked up!
