I suggest you rent or borrow, or buy, the movie The Haunting. The version with the DTS soundtrack. Horrible movie, but the sheer amount of bass surpasses WoTW IMO. The bass is supposed to be something like a ghost in the walls, knocking and rattling the walls in the movie. So I imagine your new sub will be able to re-create that experience right there in your living room.

I would love to add another tower in the back of the room to even everything out.

why not just get another knight?

i am around 2400^3, and my twin towers are a little overkill
they are set a few db hot, but they hardly get to flex their muscle

How can I tell if my tower is flexing its muscles? Look at how much the driver is extending?

if the sub is only turned up to 11:00 on the gain and your running 3 db hot, i would say its got quite a bit left.

i would think you would have a hard time over extending a tower in a normal room

Are you referring to reference level? I am currently listening to movies at around -20 on my denon. Reason is that my mains suck right now and they start to distort at higher volume levels.

sub leveled with speakers using spl meter. so speakers set to 75db, and sub set to 78db.
usually set with test tones in your receiver, or with test tone cd.
at -20 your tower is hardly breating if level matched. that is unless your room is ultra huge. say listening pos. 35 ft away

Tried to order with my credit/debit card today, to buy a Castle. It got "declined", probably because I don't have enough money in my account. I will have the money next week, and thought I could place myself in line for this next batch of subs. Can they actually check to see how much money is in your account??? If so, I'll have to wait a week

They put a hold on your card as soon as the order is placed. That hold will eventually "fall off" the card (I think you can only have a hold for 1 week before it either HAS to become perm, or be removed) and you will then be billed at shipment.

I'm 3 weeks, 1 day today on the wait for my Epik. Nahh, I'm not excited. Hope it comes next week; I'm going to be traveling for work all week and it would be great to come home on Friday and see that beastie sitting there waiting for me!

Hard to find that one...I had to buy John's 2nd copy to do my demos . It's good for 1 or 2 viewings at most, then it's straight to bass demo cuts. This one will find every piece of room or object resonance in play.

Yes, it checks your debit account to see if you have enough in there. I had the same thing happen to me when I tried to jump the gun to get on the waiting list earlier and hadn't yet had time to get to the bank . As soon as I made a deposit into my account, it worked fine.

My room is ~4400 cu ft (19'x23.5'x10'). Congrats on the Ascends, I love 'em so much. Someday I may upgrade to Sierras, but my system sounds so good I'm gonna keep it for a good long while.

Now it's been delayed to Monday. This is on the same plane of "watched water never boils" - "the anticipated package takes ages to come".

Setting the sub to 78dB will be 5-6dB hot. Not that it's wrong, but when you compensate for the meter's sensitivity, calibrating to 75dB is already 2-3dB hot.

Well, I was watching Transformers tonight and with about 30 min left to go, my Tower shut down. I assume it got too hot. After a few minutes it came back on. I was pushing the sub kinda hard but it sounded soooo good, no distortion. Maybe I need an external fan blowing on the amp? Anyone else doing this?

I have a castle and get a fair amount of port noise on really low bass notes...are you guys getting this on the tower's? I kind of wish i went with a tower for the lower extension...

At what frequencies and listening levels? I find it difficult to believe the Castle would have much port noise except at VERY high listening levels with its flared 6" port.

I can't hear any with my Tower. Watching Transformers was blowing my mind tonight. I can't imagine running a conquest or 2 conquests. I can't wait to add 2 HSU MBMs.

This kinda scares me, for I am wanting to get a Castle. Do you have your port too close to the wall maybe? And how much lower will a Tower give you? I guess that last question goes out to everyone here.....

i also have a castle and get a lot of port noise. it's only on certain frequencies but it's defiantely there. what is your gain set too? mine is only at 12 right now and it's been EQ'd by audyssey and i've even done manual calibration to reference. i've just learned to live with it on occasion. i need to do a sine wave to see where it happens. it's usually on large bass notes (spiderman 3, the sequence where sandman is created is one).

BTW, this is my 2nd one and both of them did it. when i asked chad he said it was normal if you push it. i still don't think i'm pushing it too hard.

Man, that worries me, too. I'm waiting on a Castle. Any Tower owners have noticeable port noise? For the record, how big is your room, jaybarbour?

What are you worried for? Depending on how the subs are calibrated ,there room size ect..... did you get port noise on your 2 Pb10? I barely/rarely do. I can't imagine the Castle suffering from port noise unless the rooms are large or the subs are very hot??? Dunno myself but that is making me worry now also!!! Damnit hope my Epik Valor doesn't have port noise ..I wouldn't worry the Castle should blow your mind....haven't heard one but enough ppl have praised it and the port noise complaint is probably rare or I haven't heard much. But all ports can make noise. Guess your gonna have to buy two for that 900^3 room

The Valor is sealed you shouldn't get any port noise
My friend just got a pair of Valors a few weeks ago and they sound awesome.
I am thinking about selling my Klipsch Ultra 2 subs and ordering a pair of Valors.
For the price I might even get 4 Valor's and stack them two in each corner.
That would be a tough call 4 Valors versus 2 Castles or 2 towers..........

I have noticed zero port noise on my Tower. I have pushed it pretty hard, and nothing. It just keeps on asking for more bass This sub is still amazing me every time I watch it. The Tower is supposed to go about 3hz lower than the Castle according to some other things I've read on the forums. I believe its extension is to about 12 or 13hz at its lowest point, and the Conquest will go to 10hz in room. That would lead me to believe that the Castle will play down to around 16hz.
