If it turns out they won't take AMEX at all, I'll probably just skip Epik all together.

If building points on your Amex is more important than getting a quality subwoofer, enjoy those rewards. Too bad you won't have one of the greatest subwoofers to go with them!! I understand your frustration, but I have multiple cards and expect certain places not to take Amex.

It's not about points, its about extended warranty and significant cash back at the end of the year. I'd pay the extra $10 Epik would have to pay to run the card, not a big deal.. but flat out not taking it is a big deal.

Visa, it's everywhere you want to be.

pcmike,

I understand your frustration but let me assure that MANY retailers do not take AMEX because they are more expensive to the retailer and more importantly, they are sometimes more difficult to deal with. AMEX has several policies that are cardholder friendly but hell on the retailer. I am a rep for a Merchant Processor and I can tell you that at least half of my clients want no part of AMEX.

80% ish of all card holders carry Visa or MC debit or credit cards and between that and Discover, they usually have most of their clients covered. Hope you can work it out because Epik seems to put out a fine product.

I don't see what the problem is if I'm paying the extra cost to swipe the card...

I just received a confirmation from Epik. My duel Dragon order has shipped!

Who's says your paying extra? You're just paying a lot of money for a premium product. A product that, by all accounts, is considered to be expensive but a very good value in its category.

Just like many others, I too understand your frustration, but I also understand why a small (essentially mom and pops) company like Epik doesn't want anything to do with giving AmEx roughly twice the cut that VISA or Mastercard take.
e_honda,

What I meant is if I were to pay the additional costs Epik incurs to swipe the card, what would the problem be. Anyhow, it's a moot point as I just spoke to Chad and he explained it has nothing to do with that. In a prior venture he ended up losing thousands of dollars due to people getting product then claiming they didn't like it and AMEX would refund the money to their card and the venture was out thousands. So essentially a few jerks ruined it for everyone else. Anyhow, I ordered my Dragon on my VISA, oh well. Here's to hoping it ships out at the end of the week.

Keep us posted, really looking forward to your input.

Makes sense. AMEX believes their cardholders almost no matter what. We only take Amex from clients who have a long standing history with us. The extended warranty shouldn't matter too much. Epik warranties 2 years on electronics and 7 years on the driver

Hope you really enjoy your new Dragon! That monster looks awesome.

Now that the packaging is figured out it is my understanding that stuff should be shipping much faster, its just that they have such a backlog of stuff to package since they let it build up. If that makes any sense.

Yeah, I get that.

Listen, no one ever said Epik was a full fledged corporation.

One definitely gets the impression (based on forum comments) its a mom-n-pop operation, with less than 5 total employees.

Hopefully, with all the business they're getting (and have gotten in the past) it will expand to the point where the lead time is less than 7 days.

Im happy they arent a big company. I emailed Karen today at 2:00 pm and got a response at 2:02 pm. That, my friends, is customer service. I would gladly wait 6 months for a subwoofer if I knew that each one was being carefully built and tested instead of some competitors that have problems with faulty amps (wonder who im talking about ) If epik only accepted exotic purple flowers as payment, you better believe that im going in the woods on my hands and knees looking for these flowers. Dont let a credit card hold you back.

FWIW, Chad once told me that has a had (2) subwoofer returns since Epik's launch. If thats true, I am impressed!!

John

If it is not to much trouble could you try just running one Dragon with a few good bass scenes and lets us know how it does.

Thanks

Which kinda sucks cause I wouldn't mind getting a B-Stock from him.
agreed! especially if they got a Tower.
The lead time already appears less than that. I spoke with Chad this afternoon regarding me placing an order (re: AMEX, etc) and he said it'd ship out either the end of this week or next week. He feels that once the customer reviews come rolling in that there will be larger lead times, but for now it shouldn't be more than a week.

Great to hear.

I placed my order for a Dragon on Feb. 28th.

Looking forward to getting it soon.

I am glad Chad said it (re: AMEX refunding thousands of dollars to customers)
This is something I battle with weekly and it is absolutely true. AMEX will take the customers word nearly every time and it is very hard for the merchant to convince them to re-fund the merchant. Like I said, great for the customer, not so great for the merchant.

I will say this to the business owners out there re: AMEX. If you are going to accept cards by Mail order/ Telephone and NOT capture over 80% of your transactions by swipe (card present), AMEX is the only card company that I know of that will not downgrade the transaction to a mid qualified rate. It is actually cheaper most of the time to process AMEX in this instance. Same goes for business cards. This is typically a 1.5% downgrade with Visa/MC on business card transactions and SOME processors doc you another 1% for manual entry!

Anyway, this is a subwoofer thread so I'll cease with the credit card talk, but if it helps any present or future merchants to know this information it was well worth it to me.

You've probably already mentioned it, but may I ask when did you place your order?

Hope my question isn't too intrusive or nosy...

I think its a sickness that I keep checking my order status to see if my dragon shipped .
My Pop's Dynasty also shipped out Monday and should arrive Friday. That is to the Sacramento, Ca area.
I am flying up on Monday for a few days to "Help". I'll try to take pics and post but it will probably be out of the box 2 mins after FedEx drops it off.

Anyone order or receive a Vantage yet? I hope it pairs well with my Ushers in my 2.1 listening room system. My floors are slate so I went ahead and picked up a subdude which should fit perfectly under the sub and grabbed a XLR balanced cable to connect it with my gear. Can't wait......girlfriend, not so much

Well I just found out my sub is still sitting at Epik. A FedEx tracking number was generated, but the sub never shipped.

I figured something was wrong when the tracking number was providing no updates except shipping information received.

Anyone expecting a sub should check to see it it actually shipped. You might be wasting a day off of work or other business waiting for a delivery that will never come.

I just deleted my response I just posted saying my order was on it's way. In my case FedEx does show my order is on it's way and will be delivered tomorrow, 03/12. So I assumed it was.

I just received a call from Karen at Epik telling me my order did not ship and should go out today.

IMO there should be NO excuse for my sub not to ship today. If it was built, tested and ready to ship on Monday when the Fed EX tracking number was generated, it should not take another three days to get out the door. I'd go rent a pickup truck to get the subs down to FedEx so they could get to my customers. I was assured when I placed my order that it would be two weeks.

2 weeks is not all that long for a sub. many have waited much longer.
i know that that doesnt help you now at this point, but i am sure it will be well worth it. keep us informed, as us older model epik customers i am sure are wondering how the new line is.
