So if it is a bad amp and they send me a new one is it easy to swap them out?

Yes. If you have not, get an e-mail started to Karen. She may even respond this evening or first thing in the morning. You can always follow up with a call tomorrow. I am thinking it may be a fuse. If the amp was bad, I think you would get no lights at all.

Just a quick question, if I order online on the Epik webpage, what forms of payment do they take? Do they take Paypal? Thanks

What can cause a fuse to blow on a brand new sub?

It could be anything and it could happen to anyone.

I will call tomorrow and let you know what they say. I just hope I don't need to send the sub back.

Call Epik and they will most likely send you another amp. It's the easiest way to do it without voiding the warranty.

What is the trim level set at in your receiver setup? Do you have the subwoofer out in the negative? If so try bumping it up 3db and turn the gain on the subwoofer itself down slightly. The amp may not be sending a strong enough signal for the sub to pick it up. If you're way negative try bumping up more than 3db.

The flashing red is suspect, but I've also heard of people not having that setting high enough and the sub not detecting any incoming signal because of it.

How is the sub connected to the receiver. I have a Yamaha and it has "LFE" "Bass" and "both" options. Try playing another movie and see what happens.

Highly doubt the red light would be flashing if there was no signal. Light is a solid red when there is no signal, green when it has a signal.

OK. Now you did it....I happened across this thread and look like its time to look at another sub purchase.

I currently have two SVS 20-39 PCplus's in my 5,100 cubic foot HT. They are paired with a Polk RT5000 system, and fed through a SMS-1. I've been very happy with their performance, but, as you all know, you can never have too much bass.

My question; would a Conquest (or other Epik option) make much of an improvement?

Looks like I could do a 30 day in-home trial, but the shipping costs look pretty steep.

I reviewed this thread and Epik's website, and haven't come across a similar setup. Has anyone actually done an A-B test vs. SVS tube subs?

This is definitely an amp problem and not the usual connection calibration problem. The fact that the light is blinking already indicates a faulty amp.

I hope Chad/Karen and God knows who else works for Epik to get back to OUTBREAK and solve this problem.

I want to know how to go about this kind of problem because it can happen to anyone of us, with an Epik sub. At the same time, we should know the way to fix this.

I say we take off and nuke outbreak's house from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I'm sure dual Dynasties would represent a very big increase in output . A single Conquest will probably have more output as well, but you can separate the Dynasties to smooth out your in-room FR.

Well, I just ordered a Dynasty to go with my Tower. This reminds me of when I first started out looking for a subwoofer and only wanting to spend around $700. So much for that! I still cannot believe I have dropped $2500 for subs.

I can't wait for your comparison of the Tower and Dynasty. I'm sure many others are anticipating this as well. Hope it gets to you safe and sound. Keep us posted.

I have that same problem. A $600 sub budget turned into $1000 purchase. I have to stop....really I do. This forum is not helping.

It would be cool to see the difference between them with REW given the same room and sub position in that room, when tested individually at the same optimal seating position. It would also be cool to see the effects when worked together too.

Sent an email last night and left a message just now so hopefully they get back to me soon.

lol. At the start, I remember looking at the eD offerings around $300 and thinking no way in hell I'm spending over $500 on a sub. How can these guys spend over $1K for a sub. At the time too, the JBL Venue sub 12" was the apple of my eye. Thank God I found this forum. I think .

Anybody have any ideas? Maybe a blown fuse?

Sorry to hear that but im sure Epic will take care of you .

Hi all,

I think I am close to pulling the trigger on a Phoenix. The website says they do not include an owners manual, which I think is ridiculous. They say they are working on online manuals....anybody know when these can be expected? I've got a pretty good idea of how to set up a sub, but a well written owners manual is always welcome.

I am also wondering how the Phoenix compares to the prior Castle...anybody here able to offer an ownership comparison? I will be listening to 50/50 HT/music. The room it will be in is 4600 sq/ft. Thanks.

Just looked at the specs for the Sentinel today while on break at work and was wondering if anyone here even has this sub or do you all have the big cannons in the lineup of Epik? If someone does let me know what it's like. This sub is actually more similar in size compared to the other subs i've looked at recently.

trying to swap out the old with a new one without the wife noticing a huge size difference and saying something. trying to be sneaky. lol. of course she hates sitting next to the sub right now anyways. it's on her side of the couch.

Hey outbreak, do you need to take out the old amp and send it back to Epik?
