Anyone have this extremely inexpensive system and can share information on setup and getting the most out of this sub $200 HTIB? I specifically need advice on consistently getting 5.1 or dts sound from my STB and DVD player. Also, do people have advice on tweaking the levels? I used the autocalibration microphone, and I'm not sure if it was any better than the initial default settings.
I am using this along with a Vizio LCD (VX37L), (Philips DVD upconverting player (DVP 5960), and Comcast HD STB (Moto DCT3416 I). The STB and DVD are connected to the LCD via HDMI, the LCD is connected to the HTIB via Optical Digital Audio cable, the DVD is connected via Digital Coax cable.
I have not directly connected the STB to the HTIB, it is only connected through the LCD. I've been having some difficulty getting dialogue to be loud without extremely loud sound effects, although this was minimized by cranking the center channel a bit and enabling digital compression on the HTIB and Moto STB. I don't think I am getting true 5.1 from the STB yet, probably because it is connected only to the LCD via HDMI.
Too bad this nice little system only has RCA, one optical, and one digital coax.
