Hi,
I just wanted to say: That is one great space!! Very nice!

I didn't want to limit the space to just an HT...

Wow, fantastic job... I'd love to enjoy the "experience" of your theater.

The airplane is just great and I really love the lavatory. Cool pendants over the bar too... it's all great. Now enjoy!

P.S. I hope the dog got out before the sheetrock went up!

That is very cool, using rear projection for 119" screen.
The rest of the room looks fantastic.

Love the room. Tell us more about your DVD changer setup with your HTPC.

There are three DVD changers in the system. In my main rack is Sony's three-piece Digital Living System (DLS). Two Vaio XL1B2s hold 200 discs each and are connected to a Vaio HTPC. (You can daisy-chain up to five of these changers.) XP's Media Center Edition takes you through disc intake, re-naming (if you need to), and organizing the discs which results in the DVD cover art displayed on-screen as thumbnails. Simply click to play DVD. Bear in mind the DLS does a lot of cool things and is wonderful when it works, but after all it is a PC, and you must know your way around Windows - and then some - to keep this beast up and working. The HTPC is connected to the Yamaha receiver via HDMI. Amazon has some reviews on the DLS: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-VGX-XL2-D.../dp/B000EMUI4M
Downstairs is my 301-disc DVD-F727 Pioneer changer. Titles for the selections are entered by keyboard, and they show up on-screen. I bought this unit seven years ago, and it's been great. I noticed they are still making them: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn..._33506,00.html This changer is connected to the receiver via three 40' component video (RGB) cables. By the way, I keep movies in the DLS changers and TV shows in the Pioneer.
Remote control of the DLS, the Pioneer and all RC equipment house-wide is accomplished with multiple Buffalo IR targets and emitters. http://www.discounthomeautomation.co...FQILPwodjj1UnQ

Awesome job.....

Incredible!!

I am sooooo jealous. I love the way you did multi rooms in your space and with rear projection you do not have to be extremely picky with light control.

Well done. You are hired.

VERY cool!!!

Well done! Love the backlit glass block in the bar. I'd guess the screen is OK, albeit backwards, from the shuffleboard side too?

Lots of cool unique ideas, this is definately one for someone in the planning stages to look at.

Congrats!

Very, very nice!

I only wish I had the space to allow me to build something like that at my house.

Thanks for the info about the seating dealer as well, it is a fair warning for all of us Houstonians.

Simply put, fantastic. Enjoy.

The screen image from the theater seats should not be backwards, it should be correct since he most likely put the setting in rear projection mode.

it will look backward if he was playing shuffleboard and looking at the screen, though.

That's what I said/meant. I was more curious about picture quality from the shuffleboard side, I knew it would look great from the theater side.

Yes, that is Sony's Digital Living System (DLS) Vaio HTPC. The DLS does a lot of cool things and is wonderful when it works, but after all it is a PC running XP's Media Center Edition (MCE)--I've found that MCE is not nearly as stable as plain ol' XP running on my four other PCs. You must know your way around Windows - and then some - to keep MCE up and working. Amazon has some reviews on the DLS: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-VGX-XL2-...r/dp/B000EMUI4M

Great job! One of my favorite overall rooms seen here on AVS so far if by decor alone! Great novelty items, accessories and creative functionality of your atypical space.

Question: Where did you get that giant popcorn sign?

I never cease to be impressed with the creativity of people when designing their theaters. Very nice!

Very cool airman. I was thinking about installing a rear projection screen as well, and wondered where you got all of your technical data (ie throw distance, projector selection, screen selection, and so on.) I wanted to be able to watch everything via the projector without having to worry so much about controlling the ambient light. Any suggestions where I might start. Great room dude!

I got all the PJ info I needed from Projection Calculator Pro. They have data for hundreds of projectors. http://projectorcentral.com/Optoma-H...ulator-pro.htm I researched dozens of projectors with the specs, features and price I wanted and simply entered them into the calculator to determine which ones would work in my space. I chose the Optoma HD72, and the figures proved to be very accurate.
I mounted a Da-Lite 119" Perm-Wall Da-Tex screen (#78685) onto a frame I made with 2-by-6s. http://da-lite.com/products/product.php?cID=20&pID=96 Da-Tex, used for rear projection, provides a 1.8 screen gain. (Enter that into the calculator.) Suggested retail on mine was $942, but B&H has them for $650.
