Help! Where do I put a 1080 DLP proj.?

I am trying to figure out if I can mount anycurrent 1080p DLP proj. in my Home Theater.

These are its characteristics, and can't be changed:
1) 10' W x 17' L x 6'8" H
2) Seating is at rear wall (17').
3) 100" diag Firehawk; screen starts 10" from ceiling.

From these I conclude:
1) Can not use 36 degree vertical offset projectors. Low ceiling would require major tilt of screen. InFocus and Optoma out.

2) Proj. must be mounted in front of seating (obviously). If I used a proj. which can be mounted w/the lens center at the top of the screen (BenQ, Sharp, Marantz), the lens center would be at 5'8" from the floor, in front of the viewing area; perfect for viewers to hit their heads on, especially in dark.

3) Altho the Sharp has sufficient range to be shelf mounted at 17', the rear speakers for my system would be on either side of the shelf.

Any suggestions? I currently use an IF7210, which, with a 16 degree vertical shift works perfectly.

You need to move your seating closer to the screen. Otherwise, you won't see any benefit to having a 1080p projector in my opinion. We sit about 12' from a 120" 1.78:1 and a 128" 2.35:1 ( diagonal measurements ) screens.

I agree with Craig. Don't sit at the rear wall. Not only will you enjoy better sound and picture, but you will also be able to mount the projector at the back of the room where people won't be hitting their heads. Many of the 1080p projectors will work, especially if you mount at the rear of the room becuse you can lower it to where it needs to be. I would expect your lens to be approximately 15 feet from the screen, depending on the size of the projector you choose.

Actual viewing distance is 15'. According to Carlton Bale's chart I would realize some of the benefit of 1080p at that viewing distance w/ a100" diag screen. But, I am well aware that the proper distance is closer to 10 to 12 feet. Unfortunately, the seating can not be moved.

Well,I found one proj. that would work: projectiondesign Action! M25 with a 25% horiz. offset and an incredibly small size (4H x 9D x 11W)

So you have two screens? How does that work without having to move your projector much when you switch screens? Sounds interesting.

They are both electric screens.
