Denon 2308 vs 2807

I can get the 2807 for $800, or wait 1/2 weeks and get the 2308 for $850. I have a Sony 60" SXRD XBR2 and a 7.1 speaker set. Which receiver is better or is there another receiver <$900 that is better?

The new model adds HDMI 1.3a

And

Models AVR-2308CI, AVR-1908 and AVR-1708 offer dual-zone, dual-source capability. For enhanced control flexibility,

all new Denon CI model receivers are compatible with the company's new RC-7000CI / RC-7001RCI Remote Control System (see separate release).

"I think the 2307 just transcodes to HDMI, the 2308 can scale"

Models AVR-2308CI through the AVR-4308CI feature analog video upconversion with scaling to 1080p using Faroudja DCDi.

All new models from the entry-level AVR-1508 to the flagship AVR-5308CI can handle1080p signals with Deep Color via HDMI.

Models AVR-2308CI through the AVR-5308CI include support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding.

I already know most of that stuff, but one thing that will make me wait for the 2308 is if the Faroudja video processing is better than that in the Sony SXRD XBR2 (deinterlacing/scaling). Do you know how they compare?
Nope,
I do not have a clue.

How does the sound quality between the 2308 and 2807 compare? I have a Definitive Procinema 800/1000 combo. Is it worth waiting a whole month for the 2308 since my TV is only hdmi 1.2 and does scaling pretty well?

2308 will not be out for a while, current is 2307, that is an excellent reciever imho, but 2807 is even a bit more better, bigger sound more head room.

All Denon HDMI 1.3 receivers have a built in HDMI signal booster. So handshaking is greatly reduced.

One aspect that has the 2808, 3808, and 4308 is the fact you can now use Audessey Pro on these receivers. You have to purchase a kit and key code for each receiver, but this really helps to dial in Audessey. It's about another $500, but Audessey Pro stand alone is over $2000. I believe, well worth it. The other stuff, HDMI 1.3 and DTS Tru HD and Dolby are just bonus add ons.

Some info correction for this thread.

Only the AVR-3808CI ,AVR-4308CI and AVR-5805CI Receivers are Audyssey MultEQ Pro calibration installer ready.
Also you must get an Audyssey installer to do the setup for you, Audyssey does not sell there installer kit or keys to the general public.
Last but not least, the Audyssey Pro stand alone sells for $2500

Ray,

Thank you for the correction! I was under the impression that all of Denon ci receivers were capable of this feature. But alas, I guess the 2808 fell into the cracks. Thanks again!
