'Ratatouille' Coming Soon to Blu-ray Disc

Apparently, the Buena Vista film, 'Wild Hogs' features a trailer for the upcoming release of Pixar's wonderful film, 'Ratatouille.' According to 'The Man Room' website, there is no announced date but it is pretty likely that the Blu-ray version will see release day and date with the DVD version around the holidays.

I've seen this film twice and though it isn't among Pixar's top box office performers, it shines where it counts. It is their artistic masterpiece.

UPDATE: Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that Ratatouille will make it's Blu-ray debut November 6, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD version, the Blu-ray edition of 'Ratatouille' will boast a 1080p transfer in the film's original 2.40:1 aspect ratio and uncompressed PCM 5.1 audio (at 48kHz/24-bit).

Agree on the timeframe, the film, and its content.

Must buy, as soon as possible.

Very disappointed if this isn't under the tree (or in my PS3) by Christmas.

Apparently it's happening on Nov 6 along with Cars and the shorts.

Yep. I'm sure things can change, but it seems worth getting a little excited about now. Of course, as long as Ratatouille is still playing in the theaters, there will be no official announcement.

Any idea if the Cars or Ratatouille discs will have special features?

Last year's Cars DVD was woefully light on special features for a Pixar disc and was obviously rushed out the door as soon as possible to make a pre-Christmas street date.

I am telling you, the BD release schedule for Q4 is getting out of control. I am going to be so poor come the holidays, I don't know if i'll be able to even buy others Christmas gifts.

On another note : Is a 199 HD DVD player enough to stop this tide?

From High Def Digest:

Hollywood in Hi-Def has the early details, quoting a Disney exec as saying the studio plans to debut "Cars," the first-ever Pixar release on high-def November 6.

The Blu-ray version is expected to include all of the same supplements as the standard-def DVD release (which hit stores last fall), plus two new extras, exclusive to the Blu-ray edition. In addition to a new deleted scene, "Traffic," the 'Cars' Blu-ray is also set to feature a BD-Java enhanced "Car Finder," which will allow users to search for the more than 200 different cars featured in the movie, and even "race the clock" to find a specific car in a frozen frame of film.
The 'Cars' Blu-ray was originally expected to debut this past June, but the studio eventually delayed those plans, citing additional involvement from Pixar.
Disney has not officially confirmed the November 6 street date for 'Cars,' but as they have already announced, the studio does plan to offer demos of the 'Cars' Blu-ray and its bonus features during their eighteen-city road show that begins in August. So the signs definitely look good that 'Cars' will finally be revving up on Blu-ray this holiday season.

Common sense says "no," unless you are in the HD DVD forum that is... .

SWEET! I didn't see this in the theater, so I'll pick it up for sure. I'm a HUGE fan of Pixar's movies.

The writing is on the wall for the competition except some diehards refuse to believe it.

HD DVD won't be able to compete with the high profile BD releases this fall.

We've have got Cars, possibly Ratatouille, the Spiderman Trilogy, PotC:AWE as exclusives. If FOX comes back in the way they are hinting at the fat lady will be singing. I think she is just waiting for her stage cue.

From what I heard, Ratatouille is hardly fantastic. One of my friends saw Bourne, and then snuck into Ratatouille afterwards and walked out less than 30 minutes later for he could not stand the stupidity anymore.

I just want freaking Incredibles and Monsters Inc on BR.

Now if they could just release The Incredibles I would be extremely happy.

I would get my movie reviews from a better source. Your friend must be oblivious to the art of well-crafted animation and storytelling.

Ratatouille recieved overwhelmingly positive notices from both critics and the movie-going public. The creative people in the animation industry have called it nothing short of a masterpiece.

According to feedback at Rotten Tomatoes:

Maybe it's just me, but it sounds like your friend is a no class loser to begin with if he's sneaking into movies without paying for them. I'm not sure if he's the best source for a determination of whether something is worthwhile, or not.

YMMV. I really liked it.

I will get Ratatouille Blu-Ray (along with Cars) as soon as it comes out - an easy choice. Great animation, great storyline.

Ratatouille is a wonderful movie, that happens to be animated.

This is the type of film that transcends the format war, if the BD isn't released day and date with the DVD I will most likely buy the DVD.

I think we all know who the stupid one is here...and it's not "Ratatouille".
Brilliant film...

If it happens to come out, which still remains suspect. I still have my doubts that Disney would release both Cars and Ratatouille on the same day. Ratatouille would seem to be the bigger release and overshadow Cars.

Your friend is an idiot.

One of my favorite films of the year, and my favorite Pixar film yet.

Ratatouille is indeed a masterpiece. Absolutely brilliant in every way, from the storytelling, the animation, and the dialogue. This movie is SO mine when it releases.

Like everyone else has said, if the guy is sneaking in movies, he's not the most credible source for a review.

If you liked The Incredibles there's a chance you'll like Ratatouille since both movies share the same director Brad Byrd. In the end, you should judge it for yourself.
