I finally made a decision. Just ordered the eD A5-350 Subwoofer.

Well guys. As some of you may know. I have been going through different subwoofers for the past few months and ended up getting an SVS PB10-NSD for the time being. Just to hold me over until I can get something bigger and badder. I have been following a few different subs with serious interest. The SVS PB13 and HSU MKIII, HO model, the av123 MFW 15 and some offerings at Elemental Designs. I liked what I saw from the A5-300 model. Which I felt was a very good comparison to the other models I mentioned and at only $550 delivered, it was by far the most cost effective way to go. I have been talking with the guys at eD for sometime now and they have been very helpful. Thanks to Chris, Alex and Ben.
Anyway when I was on the phone with them last week, they mentioned that they were building something even badder. A single 15 inch model with two 4 inch ports and a bigger box. Same amp as the 300 but at 550 watts, I am sure that is more than enough. The kicker is, it only costs $50 more than the 300. At $600 delivered, twist my arm. Humm, should I get the A5-300 or 350?????? It was the easiest sell of Chris's life. Anyway, I called them and placed an order today. Should get it in about 3 weeks. I will take pictures and post a full review.

Here is a link to the sub.

No brainer, just the finish is what may put off some.
I have to be honest, i don't even hear the paint finish. And since my A3-300 is behind the couch i never see it anyway.
Yep, I'll have plants on it and some photos. Never know it's there till it speaks.

The only thing that scares me is the giant spikes, what do you do on a hardwood floor?
count me in for one, I placed my order this afternoon. This should be quite the upgrade from my original dayton 10" downfiring sub

The subwoofer comes with circular metal discs to put underneath the spike.

Thank you, I think I have decided to get this sub, instead of the Hsu VTF-2 MK3, so hard to decide.

One more question, how is this wired? I plan on sitting it behind my sofa, how many wires do I need to run and how does it tie into my Yammy 861? The Hsu only needed 1 wire with RCA ends.

Same cable, just an RCA cable.
Same with pretty much every powered subwoofer.

Congrats Jeffrey! Looking forward to hearing your comments after you get to test out this beast

Thanks, their web site is lacking in information, no real pictures of the unit, and it is hard to see on any of their units how they hook up. It looks like there is 2 sets of 2 RCS jacks, might have to split the signal.

Thanks. I am really excited. This is the first 15 inch sub that I have ever owned. I plan on taking a day off of work just to sit around and play with it with no interruptions. I will definitely post my comments and some pictures as well. I am by no means any professional reviewer like Craig but I have been in the car and home audio world for quite some time and would like to think I know the difference between a good and bad sub. I also have a lot of comparisons I can make with a few SVS subs that I have had in my house recently.

Taking a day off work to enjoy the sub is definitely the way to go . I bet this animal will become one of the new bang-for-the-buck subs to beat at this price level. 15" is going to move some serious air .

not many ed threads. probably a reason why. ordered a2-300 8/6, its been 30 days still not shipped. at time of order they said 7-9 bussiness days to ship. 1st time called said 15 days, 2nd time called 4 weeks, assume 20 days. i called them on that, and they said thats how long it takes to make. they must think im retarded,i can do the math. at 2 dollars per hour they would be out of bussiness. time is money, and they arent the only game in town, good price, but 1 month. went with them so i could have matching set of a2-300s, wish i would never have gotten the first. anyone else having ****** cust. service? will say chris shremp, does seem to be a nice guy.

I will be the first to apologize for any delays that we have been having lately.

I would also like to apologize for anyone who told you 7-9 business days, we have been trying to notify people 3-4 weeks. Which was bumped back due to the construction of our new paint booth.

The new paint booth is up and running again, which will allow for only more product to move in and out in a more timely fashion.

We in no way meant to insult you, just trying our best to get things done as soon as possible, while still maintaining top shelf quality, as the cabinet construction and finish is done in house.

We even came in yesterday on labor day to try and catch up.

If you keep an eye on your inbox, we should be sending an email to any customer with a pending HT order.

Once again. We are sincerely sorry about the wait and are working as hard and fast as we can.

I am sure my patience will be well rewarded with a spectacular product. Just got in a new television/equipment stand and re-did my entire set up. I have a nice place to sit my new A5-350 when it comes in. I really do hope that I will call eD on Thursday and they tell me my sub is shipping on Friday though. I am a patient person and I totally understand set backs and products being delayed some. It seems to me that the people at eD are very good people and doing their best to get us our subs.
I just hope that we don't have to wait much longer.

What sub does this compare to, performance-wise?

Thanks for taking the time to step in here and tell us how things are going. It's a very risky move, and I know I for one appreciate the stance you as a company have decided to take. "Here we are, we're not perfect, but we're not hiding either."

I hope in a couple years you guys can look back on this period of time and be proud of what you accomplished .

I knew going in it would be a long wait.
Yes, it sucks to wait for something over a month.
But at the price, I think well worth it.
I'm sure the prices will increase at some point so be happy you got this kind of quality at this kind of price point.
The guys at eD have been straight up with me and may have taken a little while to respond, but always do. I ordered mine on 8/6 and it should ge to me with in 10 more days.

Do these subs come in any nice finishes?

Hopefully they will soon, if they could manage to do a silver version, crinkle or smooth, I'd be ordering an A3-300 as soon as the funds are available, hopefully the end of the month. *X's fingers for some overtime!

I agree, I just placed an order for an a2-300. They told me upfront that it would be a month. I hate to wait a month, but I don't feel I can get comparable elsewhere for the price and the guys at eD have been phenomenal answering my questions and I know they will make it worth the wait.
