I can't for the life of me figure out how they can get any kind of low end extension with such a small cabinet (4.17 cubic feet internally) and two 4 inch ports. Just to tune the box to 20 Hz the ports would have to be 37.4 inches long. So maybe I'm doing something wrong here or have the wrong specs for their driver?

Bradley

Thats a good Q actually..I noticed the same thing months ago. Of course, eD doesn't show in specs what the actual tuning frequency is, so we dunno. The specs just say "room tuning, 20Hz". So that leads me to believe the actual frequency would be a few Hz higher...

Mine should arrive Wed 09-19. It shipped out of KS this am and I am in CO so I would think it would be here sooner but it says Wed. I have high, very high hopes for this sub. Can't wait.

has anyone received an A5-350 yet? In looking around I was not able to find anyone actually saying that they had one. Mine is listed in final assembly, hopefully it will be shipped this week.

As a VERY interested shopper waiting for some reviews, I certainly hope so!

The status of my A5 350 changed late last week to "In woodshop" (my spirits were raised). How long did it take your sub to get from the "In woodshop" status all the way to your house? Or if yours hasn't been delivered yet, how long did it take to get from the "In woodshop" status to "Shipped"?

What hype...it's just anticipation created by you guys jonesing for your new subs. You'll be the first adoptees...if it's as good as you hope, then you can create the hype .

I'm glad you're finally getting your subs.

Hype?
I think the SVS'ers and Hsu'ers tend to hype a bit on here.
eD is too new and untested to hype.
The only hype is the relatively low price.
I could only afford the eD sub so I hope it compares well to the Svs and Hsu.

I think I ordered mine around the same time as you - 8/28

I'm also "In Woodshop" - I was told to expect the sub sometime around the end of next week. If you enter their live support chat, give someone your order number and they can look it up pretty quickly.

man, this is going to be close. My brother is coming in from out of town next Friday. I told him to bring extra socks because I was going to blow the ones he's wearing clean off his feet. I am sure hoping the sub gets here in time.

BTW, can you recommend a good DVD for knocking off socks?

from "in the woodshop" to your home will take 2-3 weeks

That makes sense... and I suppose it is reasonable to rely upon room gain down low in addition to the fact of the "hit you in the chest" program material is above 20 Hz. How something models on the computer and how it performs in the real world environment are obviously two very different things. I guess if the sub hits really hard at 30 Hz, most people will be impressed. Unfortunately, I don't have any first-hand experience with a sub that can reach way down low into the infrasonic range... but I'm looking forward to gettin' me some o' dat!

I know Craigsub likes to use the WOTW, but I've shocked some folks out of their seat with the depth charge scene from U-571.

Sometimes I am not that good with words. Anticipation is exactly how to describe it. Mine is scheduled to be delivered today. I am trying to figure out what movie to watch tonight.
And yes I will create the hype if it deserves it.

So has nobody received their sub yet? I figured some of you should have received them yesterday.

alot of good bass in the new batman begins movie. the shades on the window were vibrating, rather distracting.

Master & Commander, Far Side of the World - great bass in the first ship to ship cannon duel. It will really test your system!

The Asteroid Chase in Star Wars II. The bass range will test you to see what your system is made of.

Low Pass Frequency: This sets an upper limit for the frequencies that are set to the sub. From the point set on the dial, a crossover is accordingly places that sets a rolloff so that your subwoofer does not reproduce frequencies higher than it was intended to. If you sub is not hooked up via your receiver's LFE out, then you should probably set this to around 80, otherwise, bypass this crossover using the Crossover switch. When hooking up your sub, have this set to the lowest frequency setting, and adjust from there.
Level: This adjustment is used to adjust the output of the subwoofer in relation to the main speakers. This typically only needs to be set once. Using the volume control on your receiver will adjust the actual volume of the system. When hooking up your subwoofer, have this set to the lowest gain setting to avoid damaging your subwoofer.
Phase: This is often a switch between 0 and 180. Set this at your preference, as one setting will offer improved output and accuracy over another. It varies from room to room and speaker to speaker, and must be set on personal preference.

Good luck, and keep us posted as to how this puppy does!

Wow....that showed up kinda dirty.

Microfiber towel + a little water will clean it right up though.

I'm really happy to see these arriving in one piece...such a big box for FedEx to take

Chris,
Spikes show up yet?
Also did mine ship with the metal discs? Or do they come with the spikes?
Thanks,
Jeff

I've been a lurker for about a year. I'm getting quite excited about this subwoofer and am anxious to hear some reviews on it. I ordered mine on faith in late august. I had originally intended to get the HSU 3.3, but numerous e-mails (over several weeks) and a phone call (with credit card in hand) later I gave up trying to buy one. I'm in Canada and for what ever reason they couldn't give me a final price. ED has returned all my e-mails and Alex actually called me to complete my order.

I was told 4 weeks when I bought it, but I expect it to be more like 6 weeks. It should be worth the wait. I don't watch many movies in the summer anyway.

I also picked up a R-DES to insure I get a flat room response. My dedicated home theatre room is a little larger then 2000cuft, so I expect this will be a little overkill. Figured it would be better to have headroom in my system. The system it will be added to is a 6.1 B&W/Rotel audio setup and a 120" 720p projector system in a 18x15x8 insulated basement room. I'm really looking forward to some low bass as my B&W sub doesn't cut it with [really] low frequencies. My sub is still awaiting the woodshop, but when it arrives I'll give my thoughts and some pictures on it.

Anyway, please keep the information coming!
