Wow, I tried to change the motion naturalizer settings. They are off for the HDMI settings. I tried Mode1 and Mode2, but both of them caused noticable flickering when I was using windows. It looked like a 60Hz refresh rate on a CRT monitor. Put it back on Off and all is good. Played Wii with my son and it looked great for a 480P source. Lots of fun.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right, but no picture is gonna do the set justice as opposed to seeing it in person. I've been without a TV for almost 2 months now and am getting pretty anxious as you might imagine. So far there are none of these in stock in the good old Albuquerque area for me to check out, or believe me I would never bug you with these requests. Whatever you can post that you think comes closest-a front, a side, an angle and maybe a closeup if you have the time for all of those....thanks again man!!

Has this A3000 ultimately been worth the wait over the A2020 in your mind, at least as far as first impressions are concerned?

The size of my pics with the digital camera end up around 3.5 MB, but we can only upload 500k and 1024X768. Uploading pics here is new to me. So far the WAF (wife acceptance factor) has been very good and she agrees that it is not too big. Glad we went with the 60.

Gumby, could you tell me what the width of the pedestal is for the 60A3000? Sony says the screen width is 54", but I am trying to figure out if my 42.5" across stand will be able to hold the 60A3000. Nice pics so far, I can hardly wait to order one!
The 60A2020 was 36", I think the 3000 is roughly the same.

Does anybody know if there's any safe way to test if a center speaker can be placed on top of the TV safely (ie, without geometry problems)?

If you use an Image Hosting service you can take full size pics for posting - Even post an entire gallery if you like since it's not using the forum bandwidth or storage. Image Shack, Webshots, photobucket and many others. You shouldn't need to use your flash either.

I asked this question in the XBR5 thread, so I apologize for the repeat, but I just want to make sure of the differences between the the 60A3000 and the 60XBR5, particularly on the Video side. (I never use my current living room TV's internal speakers.) I am trying to decide if it will be worth the wait and the additional cost.

Thanks for the help.

Is the Motion Flow only capable through HDMI? Since my Time Warner HD Box only has DVI out....is it possible to get Motion Flow through DVI having a DVI to HDMI adapter at the end connecting to this TV? You know, for football season Thanks in advance.

If your referencing the 120Hz I recall reading a few weeks back that it's not supposed to be used with PC's or video games I believe - the math would not match up with those sources from what I recall hence = your reported event with it on.

Thanks for the pics, Gumby1! You early-birds are really being great about satiating the rest of us with your pics/info & I really appreciate it. The TV looks pretty slick indeed, I just wish it was a little bit more black like the A2020's were. I don't mind the silver trim and such, and the glass at the bottom is pretty cool too. I definitely like the design better than the A2020's, I just liked the black look those had, but I'll get over it, especially if the picture quality is impressive and the green blob/purple rings etc. are resolved. That being said, I think I'm pretty much sold on this series. As soon as a 50" becomes available in my area, I'll be all over it assuming the price is right and it matches my HT to my liking as I think it will!

I wouldn't recommend it, I pushed down on the center to see if it was anything like Samsung. It did noticeably bow, but nothing flimsy like the samsung. The cabinet is much stiffer.

Gumby...while you are taking this measurement, is it possible that you could measure from the bottom of the pedestal(where it sits on the wood) to the bottom of where the ACTUAL screen starts just above the speaker? I'm thinking my center channel can actually sit underneath the screen in front of the TV if I play my cards right. The Mythos Three is 5 7/16" high and it'll be sitting on a small 1/2" lip on my stand. So I'll need about 6". Thank you....

You are welcome for the pics. Glad to help. I, too , wish it had a little more black. Wife agrees. She liked the 2020 over the 2000 for that reason alone. It is done tastefully, I assure you. No sign of purple or green anything !! YEA !!

Have you noticed where the IR receiver is located? That can mess up putting a center channel speaker in front of a TV.

Or use a RF extender.

Maybe this is an off base question...

With the newer slimmer A3000 is it possible to hang the set some how?

Oh yeah, but doing a Google search they all look bulky and ugly. Got a specific model and brand? Hmmmm, I may be paying someone to come over to the valley to setup some stereo equipment! ;-) Going to go listen to the DefTec Ones and Fours tonight for the mains. Unfortunately the Ones are too tall due to a fireplace mantle so may have to settle for the Fours. Put a Three center and some Speakercraft Aim 8's in for the surrounds(yes, HAS to be in-ceiling...no other choice) and be golden. Receiever you ask...probably Pioneer Elite (94) with a SVS Ultra 13. My room is VERY big and opens to the kitchen/nook/open area. I do know what TV I want now, so the hard part is done.

The XBR is really the slimmer set. The A3000 maintains typical projection dimensions, at least, when compared to similar sized DLP's. It is slimmer then the previous, oversized SXRD's.

Does anyone know where the infrared sensor is on this tv? I'm thinking of putting a small center channel in front of the set, but don't want to block the sensor! Measurements (H + W) from the center of the base would be greatly appreciated!

That's the best news I've heard in a long time! From what's been said on this forum, TechDepot is gonna be my supplier. I'd love to go pick it up myself, but the nearest BB/CC is 90 min. away, and the box won't fit in my car anyways. They might be on back order there but that'll give Monoprice time to ship the 1.3 cable. A few weeks and I'll be in the official club!
