Ross, I just got two Oak PB13s unpacked -- best looking sub I've ever seen.

If you need the textured black finish for light reflectance reasons, go for it, otherwise IMO the wood finishes are worth the upcharge. Assuming SVS has any extra wood finishes unspoken for in this shipment

Yes please tell us what you think I have two PB13U coming in textured black can't wait take some pictures of the boxes I'm sure they are large.

Good feedback ggunnell, I think I will change to the Rosenut finish - with dual stacked units being such a dominant piece in the room, I think the wood veneer will be much more aesthetically pleasing.

why is everyone ordering two!? (I thought I was the only freak who did - actually, I ordered 4, 2 for each theater)

i'll be using it up front with a front projector, so I'm waiting for the black vinyls ...

Why? well you see I have plans to buy five but at this time I'm only purchasing two, I didn't want to have a lonely PB13U, everyone should have a friend. Yes you heard me five, some of us are crazy wild arse insane for LFE.

I ordered 2 PB-13's and awaiting delivery hopefully next week. Question for those of you who have already received theirs. Can they be moved into position by one person or do you need two people? I have hard wood floors so I can slide them if needed.

Really looking forward to hearing them in my music room. The dimensions of the room are 22' x 26' x 20' ceiling. This room opens up into a hallway and dining area. Replacing two Sunfire Signature subs with the new PB-13's. I listen mostly to classical music and lots of pipe organ.

I didn't have any problem moving mine into position. Slid fairly easily across the carpet. If you leave it in the sock initially you should be able to easily slide it on the wood floors by yourself.

Where Are The Pictures???

Looks like Craig will post his initial review of the Ultra 13 soon (hopefully really soon!). Can't wait to see one of these in someone's home theater...anyone??

I moved my ultra/2 using a beach towel folded in half between the sub and the hardwood floor and will be employing the same technique when the 13s get here.

I set the sub ref level at 82 (Nominal 75). The gain is set at 3 out of 8. The sub shook my whole house during the matrix revolutions scene at the end where Mr. Smith is posing in the air with lightening bolts coming out of his back like dragon wings. Major LFE I've never heard before. I bet ya I can get the recessed lighting fixtures to fall out of the ceiling if I repeat this scene enough times. LOL. Of course, I'm doing this while my wife is at work.

BTW Bax Global shipped the unit from Ohio to Florida in 2 days. Perfect condition. Fantastic.

Yeah.. That is the first thing I noticed when I saw the pictures.. Where did the logo go?? I had rather liked the logo on the sub.. hope that gets on there

The logo is there but its dark and blends in with the driver. If you look at certain angles it appears that its not there at all.

I bet that sub moved out of place, especially since its on coasters lol

I looked at the driver again. The SVS logo is present in a subtle military green color. Looks good, but hard to see.

To tell you the truth, I was watching the walls and ceiling when the +20db LFE kicked in. LOL. Imagine what the LFE would be like without coasters!

WOW great to hear the PB13U is starting to show up in houses!!!!
Any word on when the Gloss Black finish will be shipping?

A few extremely preliminary subjective first impressions.

2 PB13-Ultras, L and R corner placement, 2600 cubic feet witrh two double door size openings into about 5400 cubic feet, timed with receiver disance setting only, 80-Hz x-o, SMS-1 to flatten response, PB13s in 15Hz tune.

Tom, you've been practicing and it shows!

To my ears, just a little overdamped -- I know you had resons for doing this -- probably as good as you can get without other issues.

For folks who don't know me, a review of 'just a little overdamped' is high praise.

The result is sound that I can best describe as "professional" -- this is hard to achieve requiring both power and control.

Better than the TV12-Ultra? Yes.

Power? Anyone who has the Pomp & Pipes HDCD, play the 9th cut starting at about the 6 minute mark. Seemingly effortless power and control, resulting in the most realistic reproduction I've yet heard of this cut.

ggunnell, for those of us waiting on the PB13-Ultra to arrive, please elaborate on the "just a little overdamped" statement

I currently own a PB12plus/2 and was wondering if anyone has compared this to one of the new Ultras?

I got this sub in the spring of 2005, so I'm not sure if it has the db12.1 or 12.2 drivers.

I love the sound of it, but kind of like the form factor of the new PB13-Ultra better. I also like the lower native tuning of the new subs.

BTW, this is going into a fairly small sealed room (13'w x 17'd x 10'h).

Also, A while back I did get an opportunity to compare my sub with a PB12-NSD and while the NSD sounded amazingly close at times, at other times the PB12plus/2 was obviously much more powerful.

Wow, it looks smaller than I thought I don't know why I pictured it as much larger in my head.

Yeah, it definitely seems "Smaller," but I'm sure it seems pretty big once you see it in person. 155lbs is nothing to sneeze at, though!!

I can't wait to get mine on Tuesday!

Hopefully mine will ship next week. What are you guys plugging your Ultra's into, powerwise? Straight into the wall, your home theater surge protector, other? The spot reserved for my Ultra is too far away from the monster surge protector and I was trying to decide what to plug the sub into. Any advice is appreciated.

I pretty much could guarantee that the Ultra 13 would feel much larger in your head......
