SVS emailed me. The free shipping does NOT include the cylinder Ultra at this time. He did not dismiss the possibility it could at some point in the near future, but made no promises.

Is it the Ultra 13 that went up $200? Was the price $1399 previously?

I'm just now looking at getting an ultra...

That was in Canada. The pricing hasn't changed in the US.

RobZ....you are the prime candidate for one of those SUBDUDES! It would be much better than that rug under the sub!

Isn't a subdude to decouple the sub from a wood floor or subfloor? I usually place layers of dense mat used for gym flooring. I didn't have any large enough pieces laying around.

SVS 25-31PCi beside a 8" Advent

Wow!!! I'll bet that your oven puts out more bass than any other oven in town.

My PB-13 and PC-13 friends.

If you want a good movie that will challenge your ULTRA.....PLEASE rent or buy the new INCREDIBLE HULK movie. (preferably in DTS-MA Blu-Ray).

I just finished it and I'm floored by what I have just heard!
I agree. I had an MFW15 and MBM12 combo when watching Hulk. I was floored by the audio. It knocked an acoustic panel off my wall.

Rewatch with your ULTRA and reflect on what you think.

Congrats on the purchase...I love mine and I still cannot believe what one 13inch sub can do!!!

i watched last week
with my twin towers in a 2400cu ft room it was a moving exp.
every gun shot, every footstep you could feel right in the chest.
it should be added to your bass ref. demo

Yeah that was a doozy! I'm halfway thru Get Smart and it's not to bad. Wasn't expecting much, light and humorous. Has some bass though.

Any experience with these guys working on their price if you purchase 2 13Ultras? I would have pulled the trigger on the old price. Now, it's a $600 hit on me with the Piano Black increase.

That price increase was just for Canadian customers ordering from Sonicboom.com.
Piano black went from $1699 to $1999.

Jeff, I was actually looking at the craigsub review of subs and saw a $1499 retail. I was thinking the number $1399 was there on his list, and the current black gloss at $1699 was an increase of $300 when looking at his list. But I screwed that one up.

Still, when did the $1499 go to $1599 from the review list to their current price?

Guys help me decide. Right now i have a SVS 20-39 PCi Cylinder Sub. My room isn't that big, but i do love bass. Would upgrading to a SVS PB Ultra 13 be a big step up. Or is it not worth the money to upgrade?

I'm on the fence and i guess need some convincing to pull the trigger.

And if i do get the ultra, should i stay with a cylinder or go to the box?
Yes, it is a very big step up over the 20-39 PCi. Very worthwhile if you love bass.

The PB13 measures slightly better than the PC13 at the very edge of the performance envelope, and also costs $200 more, plus higher shipping costs. Either will astound you. If you like the cylinder form factor for other reasons, I'd get the PC13 and save the extra money. If you really don't care about the form and have the cash, then get the PB13.

The wood finishes were always $1599 after the pre-order. A few months ago, they changed the textured black price to match, then bumped piano black.

OvalNut I was just going to ask the same question regarding the cylinder vs the PB13 Ultra but you just answered. Right now, I have a KEF 7.1 system (IQ9s,IQ6c,IQ8ds,IQ3 and PSW3500 sub) but soon I will be getting a 7.1 made of Monitor Audio Platinums (PL300s, PLC350, PL100s and GS dipoles) and I am looking for a sub too because my KEF sub just doesn't cut it in my big room.

I was looking at other options like Seaton Submersives or Danleys or HSU but none are shipping to my country except SVS. My other option was a Velodyne DD18 but with this money I can get 2x PB13Ultras.

So has any of you PB13Ultra owners heard the Submersive or the HSU QaudDrive? How would those compare to a pair of PB13ultras?

Right now, SVS is offering free shipping in the lower 48 for the PB-Ultra. For me, it's $99 for the PC. So there is only a $101 difference. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
No direct experience, but I've heard great things about the Submersive from a fella that had dual Ultras and a Conquest. Less output than either, but better extention and articulation.

My guess is that quad ULS 15s would trump a pair of Ultras in output...sealed vs ported...yada yada...for 25% more $$$.

I had the 2039 Pci and replaced it with dual Hsu VTF3 MKIIs. There is no comparison between the 20-39 Pci and the ultra. In fact I thought the Hsus and the MFW-15 were far superior to it in tightness and output so I had it stored. The PB13 is another level all together.

I'm surprised by your statements. I'm not doubting them, just surprised. I don't doubt the U13 is better than the VTF3.2 or that the VTF and MFW are superior to the PCi. I am surprised that you put the U13 on another level (whatever that means) from the MFW. I haven't heard an MFW, but I have compared dual U13s to dual F113. The U13 stood its ground, but was slightly lower is crispness to the Fathom. Can you elaborate on your observations of the differences between the MFW and the U13?

I've only had a couple of day s with the Ultra but even without measurements, using the same test tones I used before shipping the MFW last week it is obvious that the driver produces a tighter and cleaner sound. The MFW15 is no slouch down low but it does not produce the "kick in the chest" feel of the Ultra13.

I spent over a month undecided on a pair of new ultras or used/demo F113s. The F113, in my opinion, is a sexy sub because of it's size and build. It is also a bit easier to hide and ship as well (if sold down the line). I don't regret my choice. Maybe I'll pick up an F113 for the Sony 60XBR2 setup.

I've had the PB Ultra13 for about 6 months now with the BFD eq. Watching Incredible Hulk on Bluray last night, I think I witnessed a sub bottom out noise? It happened twice in the movie, 1st time where the tanks are shooting sound waves at the Hulk. 2nd time in the end fight scene. The noise sounded like a loud pop. After that, the sub played fine.

Did I cause any damage? What technically happened? Have you guys had an issues like this?

What is your sub's LPF set at (in your AVR)? If it is higher than 80hz, you might be hearing an actual LFE noise for the movie. This happened to me on Iron Man, when my LPF was set at 120hz.

If you heard a "pop" that doesn't sound like an LFE sound, though.

You should get with SVS customer support--they'll take care of you...

no pop on my PB13's for Incredible Hulk of course, i had 4 running (albeit 12db hot uncorrected SPL meter readings)
