My PC-13 ultra will be arriving next tuesday! Thing is we wont be moving into our house for a couple weeks so I am going to set it up in a 12x12x8 room till then. Anyone know what kinda damage that thing could cause in that small of a room. I cant wait! Im also running Def Tech BP7004, CLR2500, and BP1s powered by a Denon AVR3805 and a PS3 for a video source.

You'll get some good SPL in that sized room with it, that's for sure. Was just watching Star Wars Clone Wars, and there is a scene in it when Anakin and Asoka get Jaba's son, anyway it has a very brief low bass pulse. I swear I heard my celing crack (no visible signs of damage though)...

first you bank will damage ( 1700$ )
2 people will call you crazy guy ( my wife call me that) because this sub too big and ugly
3 your wife and you kids will kill you ( they can't sleep because you sub)
the worst damage is so far in the near future you won't heard anything don't ask me why.

I know your question wasn't addressed to me but you'll be fine because mines in a little bigger area then that with stairways on both sides of HT area and connected to the kitchen and just one Ultra rocks my world !!!!!! You should be still very happy when you move to a bigger area . BTW Croseiv is just bass greedy Just like me but I cant afford twins "yet" Also the only thing you might hurt unless pictures fall of the wall is your back trying to move the beast

Looks like my Dual PB13 Ultras will be delivered tomorrow. They are replacing a pair of PB12's.

I have a big open room approximately 27 feet wide, by 28 feet deep, with 9 1/2 feet high ceilings. All hard tile floors and cinder block walls with stucco wallboard covering the block. One wall (left TV room wall) is composed of 24 feet of sliding glass doors lining the entire left side of the TV area.

The PB12's are good subs and they do perform extremely well. But I think this room is just too big for them. I am hoping (fingers crossed) that a pair of Ultras will do the trick. I never imagined I would ever spend this much money on a sub woofer. But I am now a bass junky and can't seem to get enough.

Now if I could get a team of mules in my living room to help me move these beasts into place I will be set. Anyone have a Mule Team for rent?

P.S. My Lifetime reference for Bass, is being 50 feet from a set (read two mounts with three barrels each) of 16" deck Guns going off at the exact same moment. Makes me wonder how many Ultras I will need to achieve that SPL?

Wow. Maybe the bass from one Ultra is plenty.....you just can't hear it anymore.

Wow, that room IS big. Two Ultras will go much further in filling it than two PB12-NSD's, but they'll still fall far short of your dual 16" deck gun "reference level".

I've only heard the Ultra in another forum member's room. It's a massive room - nearly 10,000 cubic feet - and it did a good job. It didn't come close to my "reference" of an Epik Castle in a <1,000 cubic foot room (the Castle is comparable in output to the Ultra) but it could certainly make its presence known during big bass scenes. The Ultra is a high performance sub, no doubt about it. Two in your room should be potent. They won't bring the house down, but I think they'll hit hard and shake the room pretty well. I'm anticipating your impressions. Enjoy

I agree, and that is the exact same reasoning I used when my wife wanted to know WHY I need bigger box things? I can still FEEL them though.

I can't wait to here these babies. I feel like a kid before Christmas.

Not that many, just enough to fire 6 VW Beetles 23 miles each. That can't take all that much energy right?

Congrats on the new subs, they are fantastic.

I have a new pair of PB13-Ultras (Rosenut).

Currently have 2 CS Ultras.

I am looking forward to the upgrade.

A very big thanks for all of the posts about the PB13.

man...lot of people ordering dual ultras lately.

Enjoy guys!
Greetings everyone.

I just unpacked, installed and EQ'ed my new pair of Ultras. I configured them thru the AS EQ1 as "Two in to Two out Discrete"

My first impression, Holy mother of sphincter muscle! Listening to these beasts at high volume is like Slap boxing with Vin Diesel with your hands tied behind your back! I think we have a winner here. I can feel the Bass in my chest, head and spine. These girls will scare the polish off your toe nails. Not that I paint my toe nails mind ya.

Did I mention how HEAVY they are? Big? Your not hiding these in your living room. I should have rented a Cherry Picker to unbox and put them in place. I think my spleen fell out in the process of setting them up.

They look awesome and sound better. Kudos to SVS. I am stupefied by the difference between two of these and two PB12 NSD's. AaaaaMaaaazing.

I am so happy with these I'm a smiling like I stole something and my wife might get lucky tonight!

Question for you Rosenutters....

Has anyone ordered an Ultra in Rosenut, gotten it setup in their room, and wish they'd gotten black instead? Since someone posted the samples don't match the sub, it wouldn't do much good have them send me one.

My ultra is rosenut and I love it. Nicest wood grain on any of the furniture in my whole house.

^ Thanks, Gelinas. I'm just so sick of piano black I could puke. I was tossing around the idea of (if I get one) either Rosenut or the textured black. Piano black is beautiful and nice and shiny, but it's what I've always had in nearly every other sub I've owned.
what does the rest of your theatre space look like?
If it's a dedicated room where you always have the lights off, I'd probally save a few bucks and get textured black or even the ultra cylinder.

If it's in your main living space/family room like mine is, Rosenut can't be beat. Sure it's an elephant in the room, but its a really pretty one.

It has all the equipment you'd find in a dedicated room, but it's our living room area. Current sub is black, and I had all but made up my mind that I wanted Rosenut, but since I don't know for sure where the sub will go (it may sound different than where my current one is placed), the color will matter. If it's by itself, I want Rosenut. With the other equipment, I'd want black. Only I can decide, I know.

I was mainly curious as to how pleased people were when they saw them in that color at home.

Has anyone directly compared the mfw 15s to the pb13ultra other than craigsub's review? I'm in the market for a new sub but it just plain sucks I cant demo them at all!!

I live in Nebraska but I very much doubt there are any ultra owners from my state*

Have you had a chance to hear dual MFW-15's yet? I live in Elkhorn.
I hav compared two mfw-15s to a single pb13 ultra. Dual mfws yielded slightly higher output above 30hz but below that the pb13 ultra takes command. The pb13 ultra also is a quicker sub that the mfws overall too.

Care to elaborate? I've never understood the "quicker" label when it comes to subs. Are you saying it sounded more controlled, with less overhang? Could it have been a room acoustics problem since there was two MFW's vs one Ultra? I'm quite ready to order an ultra to replace my 18" Velodyne (just want something different), so I'm just trying to get all the info I can before I commit.

HI there, one has to look at the quality of the components inside these subs and you will very quickly see a huge difference. The 13 Ultra driver weighs 70lbs by itself! and is a thing of engineering beauty...MFW driver....no comment.

Amps, 13 Ultra ...BASH 900 watt vs MFW 350 watt no name and we all know about the problems they had with those.

I am not bashing (no pun intended) the MFW, I understand that it does a great job when working properly but it was never designed or intended to be in the same league as the 13 Ultra, the fact that 2 MFW are required to match the output of one ultra should be the proof in the pudding.

Also remember that output alone does not reign supreme, the SQ for music and film tracks is staggering.

Just my opinion.

I agree with you except that the driver weighs 55-60 lbs, and the amp is rated for 750 watts (but capable of 2 X that for brief periods). But the output of a single PB13-Ultra is astounding when you consider it is using a 13" driver, albeit a completely customized design, that is totally unique.

My single Ultra 13 acquitted itself quite nicely in my dedicated 15x22 basement HT last week Tuesday during playback of Transformers 2 on BluRay.
I didn't hear it complain, whimper, or otherwise make nasty noises. I run mine in 15 Hz tune with large room compensation setting.

I'm a bit confused to whether you should use the room compensation settings or not ?

What do you find confusing?

Tell us about your room. Cubic footage, open to other areas or not, etc.
thanks JimP

about 4.5m by 4.5m - open stairs to upstairs, and then open to the dining room (another 3.5m by 3m)

I can sort of see difference small, medium, large (I think I should pick medium ?) - but not sure of difference between large and off ?
