What is up with Circuit City? Buy an HD-DVD player and receive 5 Blu-ray movies Free?

So my cousin was looking at picking up an A2 at either Best Buy or Circuit City and decided to search online for any kind of sales and so forth. He sent me links to all three HD-DVD models and it listed all of them receiving 5 free BD movies with the purchase of an HD-DVD player. Someone on the Circuit City staff has a little bit of explaining to do. What a bunch of idiots.

Wow at CC, HD is helping promote BD? I guess the JP6 guys I work with are right when they say "wow this Blu-Ray thing is everywhere". Of course they no nothing about HD or BD, but the BD advertising has definately caught their attention.

Project Mega Hydra FTW! lmfao

Someone should call CC and screw with them and see what they say about it. Be like "so, you going to give me a Blu-ray player too? Because those movies won't work if I purchase the HD DVD player". lol

I am definently ordering an HDDVD player now.

They better honour what is on their website...!!!

Sell the 5 Blu-ray titles you "get" thru them, then buy some HD DVD titles...
Effectively, 10 free titles? Anyone tried this and demanded their 5 BR titles?

So somebody made an error. Big deal, I doubt that they will say, "the ad says BD so you must take BDs, never mind that you're buying an HD DVD player."

All the people who are laughing about this shouldn't throw stones in their glass houses. I'll bet that if we go through everyone's posting history, there will be numerous and humorous typos, spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, etc., so let's not pretend that we're perfect.

I agree. Its not like its some blog post. This is a multi-million dollar corporate company that should have a top notch content/proof reader.

Almost a day and a half since this was first reported on another thread and it still is not corrected.

Proof positive of what is wrong with the effort the HD DVD group is putting forth.

I was laughing at all the responses until I got to this one. Now my brain hurts... huh?

Great idea. Buy the Toshiba player, demand 5 Blu Ray movies. Sell the Blu Ray movies and buy 5 HD DVD movies. Submit the Toshiba rebate for another 5 HD DVD movies.

You end up with 10 HD DVD movies, the cost of the player...

What do you think Sony will do when you send them the filled out form with your A2 UPC.

You would think someone in the dept. at Toshiba responsible for this promotion would call their contact at CC to fix this mistake by now. Although I do see progress has been made. They took out the 5 free BD reference but have not added in the 5 free HD DVD promo.

I am sure if it were the other way around it would have been fixed quickly.

Get It.

Maybe Sony has a root kit installed in the CC computers and would have just hacked in themselves and fixed it
