ReplayTV replacement remote $5.77

So I needed a remote for my Panasonic PV-HS2000 (Replay 3000) and I couldnt find any remotes for a decent price. I went to my living room and grabbed my universal remote. I thought, maybe this bugger has a code i can punch in. I looked online and sure enough, it had one for "replay". No model specified, nothing. Just replay. I figured what the heck, I cant hurt anything. Well it worked!

After you get used to the buttons its fine. Like "toggle" is live tv, and quit it the exit button, ok is "select" Easy enough.

Funny thing is I bought this remote a month ago at Walmart for $5.77. It is the Philips Universal 3 Device Remote. I looked and they didnt sell it online, but they do have it in the store. Maybe its too cheap to offer online or something.

So hey, not sure if it will work with your unit, but worked with mine. If it doesnt work return it. Walmart will take it back.

HOW TO:

1. Press and hold the Code Search button until the red
indicator stays on. Release the Code Search button.

2. Press and release the desired mode button (TV,
DVD, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.

3. Enter the 3 digit code 938

Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off.

NEED HELP!

This remote is great, but I dont think it has the "ZONES" button. I need to get to the modem settings screen to change it down to 28.8kbps. I've tried many buttons but no luck.

Anyone have another cheap remote idea that has a "ZONES" button?

Many cheap remotes do not implement all of the Replay functions. I've got a cheap GE that has the Replay code but select doesn't work, so it's useless.

If you want a good remote that can do anything you want, go to buy.com and get the OneForAll URC-8910 for $17.50 shipped. Can be programmed with JP1 (or via .wav files) if you don't like the built-in functions or the learning feature.

The Philips PM-DVR8 is pretty cheap and definitely HAS the "ZONES" button...

fwiw, if you live in an area that has the discount store 'Big Lots'.. I keep seeing a OneForAll Remote for ~$7ish that I'd bank would have it (zones). Note: I haven't personally checked.

There return policy is super ez. Without a receipt they'll give you store credit on a gift card. Just be nice and cut the clamshell plastic neatly along the edges in a way that lets you slip the remote back in a snug way, no need to cut the whole length across, leaving a few inches will make the face snap back like a clamshell so the packaging will again hold the product securely even without taping the edges. It will also hold the receiipt securely while you are seeing if the remote meets your needs. It's such a horrid world, why doesn't everyone do this crap?

brand new ReplayTV remotes for $30 at replaytv.com.

There's nothing like the original. It's a fantastic remote.

Thanks. I grabbed the PM-DVR8 at Circuit City for $19. Its now labeled as the PM-DVR8K. New packaging, etc. Not sure if there is anything "new" about it. Good news is, it has the "zones" button and works great with my Panasonic PV-HS2000 (Replay 3000). Picture below.

I have that Philips remote (you can find it for $10 if you shop around). It's great except for the lack of chapter advance for my 5504. I want to be able to use the auto chapter marks to skip commercials. Does anyone know of a universal that has this?

At staples that remote (or a similar one) is free after a $10 rebate. Staples rebates always come. I don't know if that was today only or tomorrow too, or all week.

Yeah, commercial skip works just fine with this remote. Its at the bottom.

No, the version I pictured is not backlit.

Those look great....
I wonder if any of these would also work a panasonic dmr80 PVR as well as the HS2000?

I have 2 remotes not working, both made by panasonic. Both units wore out the conductive paint with not that much use and repainting em doesnt last.
No more panny anything for me.

I know any remote that controls a Replay will work on a HS2000, but not so sure about the dmr80.

took a while to figure it out, but the PM-DVR8 got enough of the functions of both units nicely. It did not do a good job on my Philips TV but not a problem.

As a learning remote you should be able to train it for any extra keys that you need...

Its learning function does not work so great. Think I'll pick up the 3 device remote mentioned also because selling the showstopper.

Just wanted people to know this remote works good with my ReplayTV 5040.

Pro: Cheap
Cons: I dont think there is a "zones" button. Cant find it.
