One of my all-time favorite movies! I still have the laserdisc(ahem)....roaming the streets at will with a machine gun and a permanent pass to see "Woodstock" for free! Gimme! Can't imagine any great audio coming from the release,,,, but please do get the pq as good as possible. After all, we are talking Charlton Heston here! If any of you get the chance, try to check out "The last man on Earth" which is the original 'Omega Man' with good ol' Vincent Price trolling the L.A. area driving stakes into the infected drivel. Go Chuck!

I might get this in anticipation for I Am Legend.

Good film, and I would guess Warner decided on the timing of this release because I Am Legend comes out a few weeks after it will be released. Also I would second the recommendation for seeing the The Last Man on Earth and an interesting thing to note about that film is that it is in the public domain. As such you can watch it on youtube though of course the remastered DVD is of better quality.

Oh, I am gettin' this one fer sure. Hey Warner! How 'bout tossin' in Soylent Green? How great would it be if Fox surprised everyone with the Alien Quadrilogy or the Planet of the Apes Legacy Collection? Hell, just give me the original Planet of the Apes with Charleton Heston and Roddy McDowell.

OMG

this will be in my top 5 for PQ, the SD DVD was reference

Fantastic comments...thanks for the youtube info...Nothing political...but I always remarked how it was Heston against a bunch of post-apocalypto neo-luddites and as a kid renamed the movie "The Last Republican"...just for laughs ya'know! Chortle, guffaw, hack!
And hey, how about THX 1138.....that would be ultra cool....I just might hook up my old laserdisc player to the 106" screen this weekend as I have both movies on the "big disc"....Gee, they sure are swell to look at still and show off to people who mostly think it's some kind of old LP!! BTW....back in the late 70s,,as a kid, I met one of the early pioneers of optical disc and he gave us a demo of one of the first optical video disc ever made..."Wizard of OZ"....and he played it one some kind of turntable and the signal pick-up was done by using a--get this--- some kind of tone-arm that was just like an old Lp player...it popped and scratched just like a record...true story. Now i feel read old! And lucky too!

I wish it was the last man on earth instead

I like that one better.

So I take it that LMoE > OM > IaL ?
I remember seeing OM on TV back in the 80's or 90's.
I am looking forward to the new treatment, even if it *is* starring Smith *Cough* Wild Wild West *Cough*.

This is good news!
Well, Smith WAS good in ALI and The pursuit of Happyness...

This will look incredible on Blu Ray. I have a DVHS tape of The Omega Man recorded off of HD-Net Movies and the pq is fantastic. The Blu Ray will look even better. Can't wait.

23 October is me's birthday and this disc will make a nice present. Thanks Mathias!

I saw this on HDNet a few years back. Definitely getting the BD. Had no idea "I Am Legend" was a remake of it until I read the news about OM @ HDDigest. Interesting! I like Will Smith and was already anticipating that movie based on the teaser trailer I had seen.

Got this a few weeks back. While it certainly doesn't look pristine, it looks much, much better than it ever has and if you're a fan is quite worthy of addition to your collection.

Here's hoping that it will soon be joined by a BD release of Soylent Green.

It's a surprisingly good transfer for a movie of its age.

Blu-ray | Blue BD Case | Movie Pass

And for those of you who may have not noticed this, it means the Blu-ray of The Omega Man comes with an enclosed movie pass to see I Am Legend at the theater for free. Nice little bonus!

+1

I thought it looked great too. It is encouraging to see such a nice transfer of an old film compared to some transfers of new films - Castaway comes to mind. Soylent Green is made of people, bring it on...

I am thinking of importing the disc of this great flick. Could anyone confirm if "The Omega Man" is playing in Region B players?

I will be very thankfull for that!

Aren't most, if not all Warner BDs all region? I don't have a Region B player but I can confirm that there's no region code listed on the backcover of the U.S. BD.
It has no region code, I live in Spain and bought mine to amazon, buy with confidence.
Excellent transfer.

Yeah, but too bad no theather I went to would accept it! I wish they had because I am Legend was one of the worst movies ever made!
I watched this last Saturday night. It was a good classic movie experience. If I had a nickle for every way Charlton Heston kicks ass, I could buy alot of PS3's.
All of you Heston fans will be jealous to know that I actually met Moses himself and shook his hand when I was in college.

Excellent transfer.

Thank you for the information. Will now order!

By the way, the enclosed "movie money" is not for a free ticket to I Am Legend unless you go to a matinee showing; instead it's good for $7 off the price of a ticket.
