Hello everyone. Been reading a lot in the amp & speaker sections and I am almost over whelmed with the options and equipment we can choose from.
Al-tho new to this forum I am a member at many others (who isn't)
I am in the "electronic" business if you will, an engineer, I have not shopped for an amp &/or speakers in about 10 years. Then I have been struggling and I am learning all the acronyms people use on this site (its another world of communicating LOL). However, one decision I have made so far is basically to buy either the VSX-94TXH (preferred) or its brother, VSX-92TXH after reading and comparing my options many times with the competition. Initially I was looking at the Onkyo, but was turned away when reading all the issues they have been having, especially the model I was interested in. Currently I have one and it has been a trooper not 1 issue, ever. BUT I have owned Pio in the passed and they have always been great also. What I have learned here is that all boxes have there flaws, warts and or glitches, however, Pio's seems to have the most of what I do want, and very few negatives IMHO. Also I have decided to go ahead and pay the few dollars more & buy @ an authorized dealers for what they asking to preserve that warranty period, even tho you can get them cheaper (sometimes for hundreds cheaper) at non-dealers.
Now I am struggling with speaker selection, 5.1 system with a sub. I thought deciding on an amp was difficult..
WOW. Right now I am looking at the Infinity's P362, PC 350 and a pair of P 162, plus the sub PS-212, alt-ho not super high end and not costing several thousands of dollars, they appear to be competent and have a nice sensitive factor and can handle the power of the amp in question. Any opinions on members here that have these? AND, what you do you recommend for basically the same price point as the ones mentioned. Sorry for the long post
But wanted to give yawl some history..
Finally, I have the Sony XBR 4, the PS3 mainly to watch BD and need to update the rest of my antiquated system. Thanks for reading and looking for sum feedback on speakers from Pio users. Oh one more thing for those using the PS3, there is now a new update for them, version 2.35 which among other things does this
"Blu-ray Disc playback now supports DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio output.*
BUT not this yet...
* The PS3 system does not support playback of DTS-ES and DTS 96/24 for DVD-Video or DTS-ES Matrix for Blu-ray Discs.
You can D/L the update here.. Opps would not let me post url..goto sony website for PS3 I need another post or 2 looks like..
Have a GREAT! day folks..
