Ok I have been fighting with this for a while now. I got a nintendo wii and I got the component cable for it so I am trying to figure out how to take make the component video and get it to work with the rca audio. I have read that you can assign inputs to eacher in the setup but I don't see any of the rca sources listed. I only see optical and coaxial sources. Right now the video is displayed on dvd1 and the audio is playing on video game1. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Is that true? If so is it via HDMI or component.
All I care is deinterlacing the 1080i from SAT.

doesn't your tv do that anyway?

This has kinda puzzled me. When you use the left dial and scroll through the sources, why is HDMI 1, 2, 3, & 4 listed? Everything else is a source while those are clearly inputs. I have my OPPO hooked up via HDMI. Why would you have the choice of modifying the "DVD" input selecting HDMI 1 as the input vs selecting "HDMI 1" and changing the name to DVD?

I'm sure there's a reason, my stuff works fine, but I'm curious about if there was reason it's setup this way.

When I read the owners manual it says you can't select it if it is selected in the main zone. When I select zone 2 it isn't listed as a choice.

All replies are welcomed.

Thanks,

Also looking for some clarification on this.

The manual seems to suggest that you can listen to the Home Media Gallery in Zone 2 on pg 60, as Mark said above, but Home Media Gallery is not listed as an available Zone 2 source on page 59. When I press Home Media Gallery on the remote in Zone 2 the red MultiZone indicator just blinks and I don't get any video out of the Zone 2 Monitor Out Composite jack. I do get video if I use the iPod so I know the zone 2 video output works.

Has any one successfully accessed the Home Media Gallery in Zone 2?

Thanks,
Chris

I think this has to do with the fact that you cannot assign HDMI1 .. HDMI4 to the other devices -IF- HDMI control is enabled. Not sure why the limitation is there, but there is probably some logical reason.

I ran into a roadblock trying to assign HDMI1 to "BD" for my Blu-Ray until I disabled the HDMI control option, then reassignment worked fine. I can now pick the BD player using either the BD input, or HDMI input.

One added bonus is you can have different audio presets/memory defaults for both input selections. Might be useful if you have a universal player and use one set of options for DVD/BD video, and another set of options for SACD/DVD-Audio/CD, etc.

Thanks Greg. The thing that's odd is that they even show up. Let's say you setup source components on all 4 HDMI inputs, nothing happens when you select HDMI 1 with the dial, even though you have say your DVD player or your game console hooked up to it. It only works when you select the actual source.

After gobs of research, my brother has decided that this receiver is absolutely, positively The One for him to pair with his MartinLogan (!) surround setup (sooooo much cooler, and more $$, than what I have!), and I'm wondering if anyone could:

1) Recommend any particular Pioneer Elite dealers he could purchase a 94 from over the phone (or in person -- he's in Pittsburgh) that would provide him with both solid service and, especially, a great price?

2) Give me some idea of what he can expect to pay (PM only, of course).

Any helpful hints you can send my way will be much appreciated.

I posted this in the PIO BDP 95FD forum as well...

Firmware on BDP 95FD is 3.25, hooked up to a Pio VSX-94TXH via HDMI, Component, optical and analog. 5.1 speakers plus 2 other's I have set with the rear speakers "always on". The "HDMI" is lit up on the left of the display of the 94 that show's the audio feed when watching DVDs.
Watched regular DVD, first Pirates of Caribbean, no problems. After that finished was watching second PoC (again, not a bluray disc, regular DVD), about 1/2 way through or so the center channel speaker suddenly cut out, thus lost voice audio feed. Ejected disc, shut unit/s off, etc., couple of times never did get it to work right, had to turn up sound loud enough so the voice tracks would come across the other speakers as well as turned up the speakers on the TV. Watched the 3rd PoC (regular DVD) the next day, worked like it was supposed to.

Went ahead and upgraded 95FD to the latest firmware after this happened, 3.27 I think, I haven't had a chance to watch another DVD since though. I don't think it's firmware related anyway....

Any ideas?

Jim

Hi All,
I'm thinking I want to pick up one of these receivers in the next few days but I have a question first.

I have an HTPC with a DVI to HDMI cable for video, and optical for audio. I see in the manual (PDF) that I cannot assign audio to HDMI inputs. Is it possible to assign HDMI video to a source that uses optical audio input?

Thanks

Brian

Have you checked with Pioneer? I don't have an iPhone, but it could be that it has a different interface and may require an adaptor.

Hi guys, this is my very first post!

I've owned pioneers for over 10 years now, the 94 is my fourth receiver. Gotta say the bang for the buck is fantastic.

However, I'm having a problem with my PS3 and the 94 and I'm wondering if any of you have seen or heard of it before.

Basically, if the PS3 is outputting 1080p, I get a blue interference or noise running up and down the screen. This only happens when the XMB is on or I'm playing a game, movie playback is not affected and beautiful. If I downgrade the display to 1080i or less, there is no problem.

When the PS3 was going directly to my plasma (a sammy 50 550) there was no such noise, but now that I'm running everything through the 94, voila! Interference.

I'm personally stumped, and I've searched and found no answers.. Any ideas?

oilers000 - Sounds like a bad HDMI cable to me, since 1080p is 2x the bandwidth requirement of 1080i, could be the 1080p is past the capability of the cable. Make sure your PS3 firmware is up to date, just in case it's handshaking related.

ok, thanks, I'll swap it out and see what happens.
Sweet! Thanks Greg, it works like a charm now! It's usually just the simplest of things, eh? I'll have to tell the good ppl at monoprice that sometimes their cables aren't perfect, but for $2.50, I can live with that...

Is it correct that the up conversion to 1080p by the 94 is only done via connection though Component(I guess that correct word) not HDMI? The reason I ask is my HD_DVD player plays PAL DVDs which outputs at 480p/576p. If want to up convert this 480p/576p to 1080p I would need to run my HD-DVD player via Component not HDMI?

from experience and reading from other people you are correct. don't use hdmi for up-conversion. components is what you need.
