Upgrade Question: 720p to 1080p for HDM?

I know the immediate answer will be YES from 90% of the people out there (especially 1080p set owners). But I currently have a 46" 720p DLP and I am considering going to a 60" 1080p set. My viewing distance is about 9 feet.

I figure it wouldn't make a difference on my HD satellite service, but what kind of impact would it make playing Blu-rays or PS3 Games (HD-DVD/360 opinions welcome!).

Anyone out there make this type of jump recently? I'm sure I will notice an improvement, but will the average viewer notice at that screen size/viewing distance? (i.e. my wife or guests)

It all depends on how great your eyesight is. Personally, I dont think it would make much of a difference, but there are people out there that swear otherwise.

Greetings

When you consider that at 7 feet ... the human eye can't really tell the difference between a 720p image and an ED image at 852x480 on a 42-44" set ...

at 9' ... you are in that same range ... a little bigger and a bit further back.

The extra pixels of 1080p will not benefit you ... but other aspects of the prospective 1080p set may. Things like Contrast ratio ... ability to handle fast movement ... no moire patterns ...

Regards

Is that a human eye with 20/50 vision?I know with my 20/20(from lasik) I can definitely tell the difference between 720P and 480P on a 42" set. MAybe that has to do with the specs of the Tvs themselves, I don't know but I see a diffference. Just like at 6 feet I can tell the differnce between 720P and 1080P being fed to a 37" 1080P set. That might also have to do with the processing but for whatever reason I see more detail in the 1080P picture just like I do on my 61" 1080P set and my 65" 1080P set.
Now if my vision was only 20/40 i would not see the difference.

That could be my problem...20/100 is CRAPTASTIC vision, though with my glasses I am 20/20 or there abouts...
