Panny TH-42PZ700U or Pio PDP-4250HD?

This is actually my first post on the "Displays" forum. I regularly post on the "audio" side of the forum. Anyways......

I'm helping a friend purchase a TV. It seems like we've limited down the choices to the Panasonic TH-42PZ700U and the Pioneer PDP-4270HD. He's leaning slightly towards the Panny. For people who have experience with either of these TV's could you offer some feedback? Are there any other choices to still consider? Is either of the TV's significantly "better" than the other?

If you need any info regarding his "TV watching style/preferences" I can estrapolate on the issue but I think I've narrowed that down pretty well.
Help appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such model :Pioneer PDP-4250HD. Did you mean 4280 or something else?

I have the Panasonic TH-42PZ700U and am very pleased with it. The PQ is outstanding and the 1080p really makes a difference at my seating distance. Obviously the Pioneer is going to be spectacular, but I think the Panasonic comes close to duplicating the outstanding PQ Pioneer is known for. At its price point you would be hard pressed to find better PQ than on the 700U. If you are talking about getting an older model Pioneer, then that is a different story that I cannot comment on, as I have not seen them.

Thanks for the info. Many places are marking down the 4270 because of the new 4280.

Anyone else own these displays? I know the Panny is relatively new. For the 4270 owners, how does it compare nowadys to some of the "newer" models out.

the 4270 is a very nice plasma, especially at the prices you may still find one at with the new models out. The new 4280 has better blacks and higher contrast that takes the new 8G Pioneer Kuros up another level in PQ.
