The easiest way to test if you have the TBE on your tv is to get a ps3, download ninja gaiden demo, once the game starts just kill off the two ninjas that try to off you then when you have no more pesky enemies to bother you, spin your ninja in a circle and pay attention to the sword on his back as it turns into three swords as you spin. The swords have a varying degree of how noticeable they are according to what is in the back round behind the swords and how far off the background image is. Try it, it is fun and an easy way to determine if your set has the TBE. Then turn game mode on and spin your ninja again. No TBE.

Known issues with the tv if anyone is experiencing them are as follows.... When watching sports, some people have noticed a triple picture on such things as footballs, golf balls, and tennis balls during fast motion. The fix for this if you are experiencing this issue is to go into the menu, go down to setup, and choose game mode and set this feature to on. Be advised game mode does not work the RF coaxial inputs so for those with HD OTA, so far there is no fix. Game mode has yielded positve results in this issue and at the moment a few memebers are having samsung techs coming out to observe the issue. Remember, these are new TV's so if you are experiencing the problem please call Samsung at 1-800-samsung 1-800-726-7864 mon-sun 9am-midnight EST so that they can be advised of the problem and get a firmware patch if possible.

****BASIC INFO ON GETTING OUT OF SHOP MODE******************************************************** **************
If you tv is stuck in shop mode here is the way to turn shop mode off. Hit menu on the remote, go to setup, go to plug & play, hit start. Select home. Exit out after selecting home or if you are using OTA, the tv will try to re-find all the channels again and that could take a half hour so just exit after selecting home. Some folks put thier tv in shop mode by accident. You will know your tv is in shop mode if it doesn't remeber your settings and keeps going back to dynamic mode. A way to check this is by setting your tv to Movie mode. Turn the tv off, when you turn the tv back on it should still be on movie mode. If it is back on dynamic mode, follow the instructions above.

************HOW TO CHECK FOR YOUR TV's FIRMWARE**************************************************** ***************
To check your firmware version, here are the instructions:

1. Turn on your TV.
2. Press the MENU button on your remote.
3. Select SETUP, and then press ENTER.
4. Select Function Help, and then press ENTER.
5. Use the Up or Down arrow button on your remote to move down to Function Help to ON,
6. With Function Help ON highlighted (don't actually push ENTER on it), press the INFO button on the remote. Your firmware revision will be listed as two lines of information. The TOP line is your software firmware. The BOTTOM line is the hardware revision number.

Yes xbr4 was there. Didn't notice the pioneers. Yes there was a display unit playing 300 on blu ray and TMNT. The 71 was in a room by herself so hard to run over and compare it to the XBR4. I was going to either get this, the xbr4, or the 81. The xbr looked great but this did too. To hard to compare one another in a bright CC light up from floor to ceiling with bulbs.

Not on the website yet, the CSR at the store said that they have no info from samsung so they have nothing to post on thier website... I only heard from a CSR at Best buy across the street that he saw it there and told me to go there to check it out if I was interested. There is always a group of people checking out the 71 when I go to CC the past 2 days...

It's not the g word anymore it is now know as FOG. In the dark I would say yes but it is hard to remember what the D92 looked like. I mean I turned this thing on in a bright room in the middle of the day, un-calibrated, ps3 playing casino royal un-calibrated, since I don't know what settings to put on the ps3 besides 1080p24. Once it started I just stared at it thinking holy &*$@. On the blu ray I have not noticed black crush yet. Pretty detailed from black to white. Still have a lot to do to it at the moment. Yes it is like the 65 just more black. The bezel is the same color as the 16x9 strips. With all the lights out. I don't even see the bezel or the black bars during a dark scene. Just the bright blue samsung line and the picture. The whites are eye piercing. Need to tone those down a bit.

I don't mind the format that they are in. I would just rather have my ps3 upscale the output to 1920x1080 so that my tv can focus on other stuff than processing the image to native. My 360 games seem to run smoother when set at 1080p than the games on ps3 at 720p.

Well my price difference would have been about 700 or 800 from the 4665 to the 4671. I would say maybe. LoL. The 1080p24 looks amazing. The 5/5 pulldown makes no judder at all. Well none that I can notice right now at the moment compared to the 66f, I would notice some skipping on it for sure. The automotion plus is kind of a joke for movies as you may have heard. You really need to experience it on High to understand how bad it is. I have yet to see a sports games to use it to see what it is like on HD for sports. I do use it on low setting when I was playing bio-shock and it gives an almost pc shooter smoothness to the game. Looks amazing. The feature is still very young so we will see. I can't wait to bring some friends over. They will crap thier pants when they see blu ray on this.

Well the msrp isn't that different on those sets either. It is all about being able to do 1080p24 well. That is the major update. 120hz. I still have my eye on the 81 so if that comes out in the next 29 days and just kills everything out there, I might have to upgrade. But for now I got a great price from CC and this thing is knocking my socks.

Do they make a blu-ray avia calibration disk or will the standard dvd avia disk work. I do have that one... Does it matter?
I seriously whish I bought a nice digital cam cause my iPhone just isn't cutting it....

FOR MARK1080P, the csr at CC told me not to wash the screen with windex and use a special non-ammonia, non-alchoholic, non-abrasive(duh like I was going to use comet) wash on the screen since it is treated with 5 layers of anti-glare. He might have just been trying to up-sell some screen clean product. He did point to a plasma that he said had the coating. He said one of the CSR's washed with windex and it had a huge round blotch in the upper left. So I don't know...

Will download it right now and see what happens....

quick little review update. After I mounted the tv, I was wondering how in the world to turn it on without the remote. I just kind of sat on my carpet with my legs crossed like a monk in prayer just starring at the bezel for some damn sign. There is no power button. On the right bottom side of the tv there are some touch sensitive buttons like the ps3. Menu, source, volume, and channel.

Yeah using the iPhone. It is 2.0 mega pixel. Looks like crap compared to a nice camera but that's all I have at the moment since I just spent a wad on a new tv lol.


My panel is wall mounted at a 15 degree invert towards me. Gives me the best viewing angle when I am sitting/laying on the couch. It is mounted about 5 feet off the ground so if it were to be flush against the wall, then I would be viewing it off angle.


Joe, is that a 46? I am too afraid to go looking for pixels cause once I find one I will always try to look for it. I have had my face inches from the screen but haven't noticed anything yet... Joe's picture shows how freakn black the backround is. Not a single pillar, cloud, flashlight, strobe, mirrorball, nothing just blackness....

Forgot that I had downloaded the ridgeracer 1080p demo. Here it is. I popped it in and OMFG. Are you serious? The draw distance is amazing. I could see for miles. I used automotion plus on low and the framerate was soooo smooth. Not one hiccup, not one refresh line. I swear I had 3d glasses on. Sorry for the bad iphone pics. Had to get really close to the screen..

No HDMI flashes. Just the usual stupid handshake. If I turn the ps3 on it works fine. I pop in a blu-ray and the screen goes to black with blue box saying searching for signal then the movie starts. With the 360 I never get that handshake. If I pop in a movie on my 360 elite it just says something on the bottom like when a friend pops on. It says something like HDCP certified. Played bioshock demo 3 times with no problems. Rainbowsix 360, no problems. PS3 games, demos, blu-ray, no problems. Watched hero's repeat on the cable coax input with no problems. So far so good...

Damn, don't have that game anymore. I am about to drive to walmart to pick up bioshock and play that all night on the 360 to really put this 71 to a benchmark test. That game has some serious blacks. I just know that if I go get it right now, I will not sleep tonight. I just can't turn this tv off.

EDIT: Damnit, walmart confirmed my worst fear, they are selling bioshock tonight at midnight. See you guys in about 30 minutes. I won't be sleeping tonight. Good thing I don't work until thursday.

Ok I will go download COD2 and Burnout I think I have. I just bought bioshock at walmart and I will be playing that all night and will post some pics as I progress. I will try the motionplus off and on to see what effects it will have. So far the motionplus for gaming adds alot of artifacts on High, on medium they are still there, on low it is just right to give the game that added smoothness. And it is game dependent. Some racers I use it on medium and some shooters I use it on low and medium just test it out to see what works the best for you. Yeah that TMNT does look amazing. No wonder they had it demoed at the store on the 71. Sorry about that pixel. It sucks, I feel your pain. You shouldn't be able to see it from 8-10 feet.
