Job well done. Whenever I get a nice person, that actually understands and cares, I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I recommend waiting for his store to get one.

well the nice thing is, i am in new hampshire, and the store he's out of is in mass....i told him i dont want to drive to mass, i have done enough driving already....so i am supposed to call him at the end of the week to see if the store near me has one yet, and if it does, he is going to drive up here, make the deal with me, and inspect the tv with me before i take it home....which is pretty unbelievable. Takes a very nice person and someone that cares about customer service to do something like this.....i indeed did get lucky

Is there an easier way to get 5.1, short of throwing out my expensive harmon kardon amp and buying a new amp that does hdmi?

Oh, Ok, I got you. Yeah, I would wait for the store near me to get one, and hopefully he keeps his word. Now you get to feel good about your new contact. It'll work out.

Well I'm about to pull the trigger on an LN-T5271F and I have some obvious concerns about what Samsung is going to do to address this TBE and studdering issue. I realize I might not have these problems but if I do I want to make sure Sammy is going to back up their product and not leave us hanging. The guy did say they are committed to fixing the issue by either another firmware upgrade, a service call to replace a board, and if that doesn't resolve it they will give us new TV's. I know there could be situations where the amount of problems are subjective to whomever is viewing the tv and that leaves a grey area on if there's a problem or not, but it least I know they are acknowledging that there is an issue and they are working on it. Based on this I am pulling the trigger - or should I say rolling the dice. I hope this all works out and will report back once I have a set in the house.

Thanks

I am doing something similar to this..

I have the LN-T5271 set and I have run 2 HDMIs to the set. HDMI-1 is equipped for the PS3 and HDMI-2 to the Comcast-DVR.

I then ran a Fiber Optic TOS from the PS3 to the Digital Fiber on my Denon-3600 AVR receiver and ran a Digital COAX from the Comcast DVR to the Denon-3600 AVR receiver .

When I want to watch say a PS3 movie, I select the HDMI-1 source on the LN-T5271 and on the Receiver I set the source up for Digital-Fiber (or the DVD player), hit that button and I am in business.

Works good, I did not want to buy another expensive component for my receiver needs as the 1998 Denon AVR-3600 receiver still handles Dolby-Digital and 5:1 very well...

Greatest purchase i have ever made.....

To watch this tv with amp off is tragic! I have been buying HDTV's since 1999 and im absolutely STUNNED by the PQ with AMP on high running blu ray....i keep it on medium for HD cable, and put it on low when watching SD programming

Thanks for the confirmation. After looking at the prices of new hdmi capable av receivers, I think I'm going to let my credit card cool down for a while longer. Plus I have to buy a new tv stand that has a place for the center channel speaker now since it's not fitting on top of the tv any longer... I've seen various center channel shelfs that supposedly fit on top of a tv, but that they all look rather precarious.

And after thinking for a bit, it may be possible to program a macro for my universal remote to switch both the tv source and the amp source at the same time. If the Samsungs had discrete source buttons it would be a bit easier to do. Discrete IR source codes may exist, but finding them isn't always easy.

then after the tv situation is all set.....the hunt for a good Blue Ray or HD-DVD player....gotta start researching that a bit i suppose....i am leaning towards Blue Ray....and if i do go that route, i am wondering if i should just get a stand alone one..or get the PS3. I already have an XBOX 360 ELITE tho...but i guess to gaming systems couldnt hurt.

you should be fine in the windstar, i still have the box, trying to talk my parents into letting me store the box at their house as i plan on moving towards the end of summer 08 and would rather just put the tv back in the box for the move

the box for the 4671 is 52.5 inches long, 34 inches tall and 17 inches deep

thats one thing i hate about the ps3 though, if you dont want to use the denon for sound but want to use your tv through hdmi you have to keep switching back and forth in the ps3 audio menu as only one can be active at a time, with my hd dtv reciever or 360, all audio wether analog or digital is all active all the time so if i wanted i can have hdmi sound from my tv, digital coax to my pc speaker set up and optical to my reciever and blaze them all at the same time

Yeap, you are correct on this..

You do have to toggle the PS3 for your AUDIO out which does suck. I usually use 100% on the receiver so it does not bother me too much in this aspect.

If you are thinking Blue Ray vs. HD DVD, I would say that it looks like BR is going to win out .. And then given BR (if you opt to go this route), the PS3 it seems will be capable of 2.0 BR format in the near future so it seems like the way to go.

With the PS3 you get, gaming, Internet, upscaled DVDs (very good BTW) and then BR ..

the reports of the 360 HD dvd addon arent the greatest but it looks great to me, id get a ps3 and the 360 addon, as far as i know there is a mail in rebate for 5 free blu-ray with ps3 and 5 free hddvd movies with the addon which kinda makes the addon free

the hybrid multi format players are starting to come down in price but the way i looked at it is metal gear and gran tourismo are worth getting the ps3 for your blu-ray needs as well as the rest of the ps3 exclusives, if you wanted you can install linux on a ps3 as well as use it as a web browser and media extender like the 360. they both stream mpeg4 as well as other formats from your pc and i have to say it looks beautiful

If you have the XBOX360 console already, the Add-On is not a bad choice for HD-DVD. It's cheap, and you get the free movies with it. More importantly for me is that the Add-On is a USB drive that can be used with your PC. You can watch HD-DVD via your PC, as well as back up entire HD-DVD movies onto your hard disk for storage and for viewing later. All you need is a reasonably updated video card and CPU.

***FOR 71 OWNERS WHO OWN AN XBOX 360***

I have a 4071 and two days ago, I purchased an Xbox 360 Elite. When playing, I've been noticing white dots which resemble static or interference during gameplay. The video output is 1080p and I'm running my 360 through an HDMI connection.

My 360 has never locked up at this point but these white dots which appear on the screen during gameplay and cutscenes have me a little worried. I have tried multiple HMDI cables (one of them being an excellent Monster cable) and I've plugged it into all 3 HDMI ports on my TV. White dots always appear no matter what. Is this static? Is the GPU defective? Has anyone encountered this problem with their 71 + 360? My PS3 and Wii work perfectly on my 71.

If you know a possible solution, please help me out.

edit 1: my 360 has remained quite cool even after 2 hours of play so I don't think it's overheating

edit 2: I've unplugged some electronic equipment which was near my 360 but the white dotted lines still appear. I'm not sure if it's still interference unless something else is causing this which I do not know of.

It's been a pleasure to assist you and not a bad end result at all. If I might add one thing, repeating some of the myriad suggestions I offered earlier:

He says "...he's not sure he can do 10%." Then he absolutely can! He knows precisely what he can or cannot do! He's the Regional Manager. He can do anything he wants! He can give you this thing at cost if he wants to! Ten percent is appropriate and adequate compensation and you should not appear eager at his offer of 5%. Where I live, that's only two tanks of gas!

Whether salaried or not, take a look at how your hourly wage breaks down, and multiply that dollar figure times the TOTAL number of hours you've invested into every aspect of this. THEN add gasoline. That sub-total doesn't even account for your frustration and anxiety.

I assume BB and CC operate similarly, at similar margins. Let me recount my experience at BB a week ago: The Pio 5080 and 5010 were both on sale, and actually at very good prices. Two stores jacked me around on the 5080, telling me over the phone that they had them in stock and yet when i arrived, they had none. After the second occurance, I went back to the first to get some consideration. (Mind you, this in no way approaches the FUBAR situation you've dealt with!) The mgr had no 5080s but had the 5010. Already on sale, HE OFFERED ME an additional 10%, which for that set, at the sale price, amounted to an additional $399! (If you do the math you can figure out what the sale and my new price was, and I still couldn't afford it.) I countered: "I'll take 10% off the current 5080 sale price and wait 3 days for it, fair enough?" (That amounted to an additional $199 off.) Sure, no problem...glad we could make you happy.

Hang tough! Don't know about you but the difference between $135 and $270 is significant to me. And then of course there's that satisfaction of knowing you closed the deal and got what YOU wanted.

If he absolutely won't do 270--split the diff and take $200.

Yeah, I think I might have been the person that suggested camera flashes. Well, when watching frame by frame I actually saw a camera flash, complete with the red-eye reduction preflashes and all the flashes were puny. The amound of whiteness washes out everything in the screen momentarily. It's like a NUKE.

I was wondering if anyone had any luck calling samsung tech from the store and giving them the SN of the TV asking if they could tell you which FW was on it?

I guess I could just pick it up and pray but I would rather not go through the hassle of unboxing it and packing it back up.

Anybody know the answer?

Woah! Interesting. More info please!!

We (ok maybe just I) need a lot more info about what these pics represent. Player settings (?24p), how was it recorded? (exposure time, 30fps, 60fps?), or are these just stop frames? What is the software you are using to display this?

Look at the FAQ. It is linked in the first post of this thread. It is awesome, and is updated and will probably answer 90% of your questions.

It was good to hear that they're at least willing to work in the same field as you. From the tone of what you've written, I can tell you are grateful for that, as you should be. My caveat is this: As you and others wrote, we (all of us) get soooo pleased when someone hears us, seems to care and offers a little something in return, that we tend to forget HOW MUCH WE'VE BEEN JACKED AROUND! Retailers and manufactureres know this! Consider all the people who thought Samsung was stepping up to the plate LAST YEAR for fixes on well-documented problems. Here we are in Feb., w/ no solution in sight.

Dude, you've had about the worst experience getting a TV of anyone I know or have heard about! The time and effort you've invested in this in incredible! Don't forget your anger and frustration, just don't let it own you. Allow it serve as motivation in your negotiation. You've got a guy that will work with you, so stand firm.

You've done a great job up till now and I wish you the very best in following through. Can't wait to hear the end result.
