and? like i said, i've been using them for almost 7 years, and they've been great to me.

I know i was just showing everyone where the review was coming from. I seriously want a pair of headphones before halo and i'll have my copy on friday which is really making me search. I think i'll go down to jnr tomorrow and try a few pair out since they have some on display to try.

Yeah.. Age has nothing to do with the quality of a headphone if they are good to begin with.. I have a 30 yr old headphone that sounds great.. & most drivers will last you a life time..

I know that Sony doesn't use the Dolby headphone DSP technology for SS.. Sony has their own DSP for SS. From what I hear it's not as good, but still effective.. Seems like a good option for 85.00..

Same question I'm waiting on confirmation from HaD3K when he receives his unit. I dl'd a manual which I mentions an adapter (SU-DH1-J). It was from the Canadian web site and the manual is in english and french so I'm hoping...

How about a 5.1 set of headphones that uses RF and not IR for those of us whose equipment is located outside of the room. I would have ponied up the cash for the pioneers if they were RF. If I have to run an optical wire into my room for the IR receiver I would rather save the money and just run an extender wire for my headphones.

O.k. I went back and looked at the manual and now I can't find any mention of the adapter. I know someone mentioned earlier that the Japanese version had one.

But not as impressive.. Sounds better while listening with the actual gear. Least that was my experience.

Yes. I believe only the Japanese version has one.. You could always get a voltage converter if you really need a adapter.

J&R Electronics says right in their product description "uses 2 AA batteries, supports power from an AC adapter"

Of course, it could be a misprint or otherwise incorrect.

Sony have two versions of surround headphone. None of them uses Dolby Headphone technology. The cheaper version is no good. The expensive version (>$800) is better than Pioneer Dolby Headphone from a review I read.

The problem with most RF based wireless headphone is that they are all pretty noisy from the RF interference. IR is better. Digital IR used by Pioneer headphone is even better. No noise what so ever.

I heard it is very good too. Think it came out in 03.. Unless they upgraded it..

The user manual from the JVC America website does NOT mention any AC adaptor support. It only mentions batteries as the only available power supply. I'd guess J&R's description (from my previous post) is incorrect.

Trust me, the simulated 5.1 with Dolby Headphone technology is far better than so called true 5.1. I've tested many of them including Zalman's version. Non of them is anywhere near the effect of my Pioneer. To get true 5.1 with multiple drivers, rear channel drivers have to be behind your ears, not inside.

Recently Sony announced a new one which is only around $300. So I don't think it will be as good as the older version.

If my headphones weren't in a balanced configuration I'd just get the JVC adapter..

I'm considering the 595's & clip on mic for XBL... however I've got a fundamental question:

Assuming I don't route through a receiver, what is powering the audio? Even if I use the JVC adaptor, it doesn't have a volume control... so can the 360 alone drive the headphones or would I need an amp?

Just received my Senn 555s today. Wow. To be honest I've never experienced such clear sound through outer ear phones. Hooked them up to my Cowon D2 player, and I was in heaven. I also own VModa Vibes, IE phones which I normally use on my D2, but these new Senns will most likley take over whenever I'm listening in the house. My music sounds more like a live experience now, rather than one in my head. I can't wait to hook these bad boys up to my 360. I can't think of anything else to say atm so feel free to ask some questions. I will say that these are definitely worth every penny, and if your a gamer you'll probably find yourself spoiled silly.

I'll have impressions with the JVC adapter and the 360 probably late Friday. Those should be way more detailed and hopefully I can take some pics of the whole kit and caboodle. Till then......

The JVC has a volume control.

I know, but ppl are stuck on the simulation part, instead of the 'real' thing.. To be frank, theres no such thing as 5.1 headphones to begin with.. None come remotley close to a good 5.1 set up. But DD 5.1 headphone does a admirable job of giving the illusion of 5.1 sound with headphones.. & does sound great..

I really hope the JVC coupled with the 555 astound you since I been advocating it so much on this forum. I just really believe in it.. & I hope all who bought the JVC & or headphones based on my recommendation really love them. & what you say is true. The music becomes real & the artist are now live.. With my set up it's like the artist is singing just to me.. Whispering in my ear, or I'm with them in the studio watching him/her record the music.. & you don't need to spend as much as I did to get there, which is scary..
