What gaming headphones to buy? - Page 97

Ugh I'm so confused. For the last ten years I have used this Sennheiser DSP Pro device into a s-video switch box for TV, music, dvd player to gaming. Its nearly dead now so I need a replacement but I cant seem find an item where folks say its decent for listening to movie voices and gaming.
What I need:
Must be a/c limitless power for long usage
Old white/red audio 2 ch rca L R as option until I change s-video switch box
My sony MDR-700v cans still work I suppose I should avoid whole new headphone if possible.

Is the astro amp like my old device self sustaining without a receiver?
Am I better of with a cheap receiver with the headphone jack instead if the astro like jvc SH1 device doesnt work well with dvds?

Wireless stuff, do they give you some type of box to plug in all your devices otherwise I dont get how you use them.

If anyone is looking to buy some headphones, my xbox just got the rrod and I just bought these Audio Technica ATH-A700 Closed-Back Dynamic Headphones With Double Air Damping about 3 weeks ago. I only used them probably a total of 16 hours so far so yeah they are pretty brand new and now I have no use for them. PM me to get in touch if interested.

Hey, I am a headphone noob and need to make a decisions on which ones to buy and I was told to ask here.
I want to buy a set of headphones for my Ps3 and I can't decide between the Sennheiser 555, 595 and the ATH AD700.
I would buy the Senn 555 because it's by far the cheapest out of the three, but if the 595 and the AD700 outperform the 555 by quite a bit I would consider buying one of those.
I also want to use the headphones for movies and music. I listen to a lot of Hip-Hop, rap and RnB, so I would like a headphone that performs well with that kind of music.
Also I don't have an amolifier, if that matters, but I would consider buying a FIIO e3 or e5 amp.

Bottom line: I want to know if any headphone in the same price range rivals the Senn 555, when used mainly for gaming and, on a sidenote, also for movies and music (hip-hop etc.)

Everything I've read says the 555 does 90% of what the 595 does.. for 1/3 of the price.

If you are a headphone noob.. the 555 sounds like a great place to start. They are new for like $105 bucks shipped on Ebay.. I've seen used/refurb ones go for as low as $72..

get the AD700's.... close to the same price as the 555, performance on par with the 595.

I'm on a planar high..So I say try them. Have to buy used since the last commercial model was in 90. Now they are strictly sold to audio professionals. From 50-100 for a good, high end vintage pair. Orthodynamics do things much better then dynamic headphones, even bettering some of the most expensive ones. Smoothless is just nuts.. Everthing is free flowing and effortless, never harsh or strained..And handles detail in a very different way, delicate, yet you know it's there. No treble spikes or an emphasis on treble on a certain frequency. Speed, resolving power. Of course electro stats take it to a whole other level. Planar(Orthodynamic and electrostat) Theres also bone conducting headphones.

Used AD700s
The Astro Mixamp
Optical Cable (3 feet)
Original Cables (those that came with the Mixamp)
PS3 USB Adapter (for use with PS3, the "Magic Fairy")
Microphone (came with another pair of phones I bought, its a clip on mic to go on your shirt)

I've had the AD700s a while, but they work great and feel like they did when they came out of the box. There is only a small issue with one of the top pads (it fell off once, but a little glue fixed it up.

The Mixamp is immaculate. Works just like the day I bought it. My ebay account is "themissinglink09" and I have very good feedback. If you want to buy, just send me a message (here or ebay). Thanks guys. I really wish I didn't have to sell them. They've helped me frag many a noob.

I'll add pics if asked.

This really is a good deal..But I bought my AD700 earlier today 85 shipped. I would like the mixamp, if you sell it seperatly, but am the winning bidder for some Yamaha Y1 orthodynamic head phones, so doubt I could afford both.

I have just bought the Plantronics M60 Mobile Headset off Ebay for a £5 delivered.

http://www.letstalk.com/img/prod/108/24811_pdi.gif

It fits behind the ear and allows my HD580's to fit and feel like they normally do without any headset underneath. They are very discrete and you can barely tell I am wearing a headset underneath. Yes I'm looking at you official 360 headset.

The plastic behind my ear of the M60 can start to rub and irritate a little after 1hr or so, so I am switching the headset over to my other ear for now to relieve the pink ear effect.

I can hear people talking very well but they say my voice sounds a bit low. I can also hear a bit of a hiss in my ear but this is only really noticeable when we are in the lobby. I'm hoping that when I add the Datel Xbox 360 Headset adaptor (the mute and volume part) that it may amplify my voice a little bit more.

How everyone is handling voice comms when playing on Live and using the SU-DH1 or DH amp and headphones?

Has anyone tried the Sennheiser pc350 yet and how do they compare to the a40 headset and the Sennheiser 555/595. What is the best headphone with built in mic? Your response is apreciated.

I have the PC350- my first decent headphones, so I can't compare to the others, but I like them. I'm considering my next upgrade plans now however. Not that I don't like their sound- it's very very good to my ears. But I am using them with Nvidia's new 3D glasses and the fit of the combo isn't the best. Send me a PM if you'd be interested in buying them for a good price- I may be picking up the some ATs to try out in their place.

I believe it's like a 555/595 hybrid. These are closed. 555 I'm not sure?

Basically, I want the best headphones with attached mic to use with the a40 mixamp. Any ideas? I already have the tb x4 and now im looking for a wired set. Most of the solutions here require the use of attaching an aditional mic.

i'd say your only decent option is the A40, PC350, or gamecom 377.....

if you want to go a little cheaper, razer has the carcharias and steel series has the siberia.

if i were looking for an all in one solution to work well with the mixamp and have an attached mic i'd just go with the A40's.... may not be 100% the best solution, but you wont find many complaints about them.

Open to offers for my PC350, lightly used and in good shape, so I can try out AD700 or ideally, Sony MDR-F1's....

Same reason why I would only link to them and not mention the price.

He did make a special note of wanting 'the best' though so I thought I might as well put that option out there.

They are the same thing as the DT770 2005's.

ouch, so you're paying 150-200 for a half decent attached mic.

Hello all,

This is my first post and I was really just looking for some advice. I am looking for a headset (mic integrated) that is suited to Xbox 360 gaming. However, I'd also be using it with guitar amp and PC. Given this, I am attracted to the A40 Mixamp for it's flexibility + functionality with the 360.

I'm not sure, however, what headset I should be looking at to combine with the Mixamp. I was looking at the Beyers mentioned above (and yes I did read what was said above), the PC350s and the A40s themselves... Can anyone suggest which of these would be best for my intentions / works best with the A40 Mixamp? (or suggest another?).. The only thing stopping me from getting the Beyers is that they seem heavily overpriced.

Cheers,
Cam

Who here is using the A40 Mixamp for PS3 with the USB mic adapter? Are you using the Zalman clip on mic? How exactly do those work together? The Zalman just has one plug but the USB adapter has two female inputs on it.

*edit: I think I figured it out. Correct me if I'm wrong.

1. You plug the usb adapter into the PS3.
2. You connect one plug of the adapter into either of the two daisy chain connections of the mixamp.
3. You plug your mic into the other plug of the usb adapter and voila! Right?
