What craft did you end up beating it with?

I played Campaign Meltdown elite again the other night as I couldn't get online.

I forgot just how hard it was on those two tracks,the other tracks were a breeze in comparison,so I know what your going through.

Just think,when you have finally done it you can have a shot at Arcade Perfect.

Racebox -all 16 tracks-1st place-Phantom-Elite.

The thing is when going for this trophy is that there is NO visual record kept that you have come 1st,so write down all the tracks on a piece of paper and tick them off as you get 1st place.

Nothing worst than thinking you have completed all the tracks and you don't get the trophy,it's like huh?,which one haven't I done?,I've lost count of the amount of people that that has happened to,it's especially bad in this case because the task is so hard in the first place.

Beat it with AG-Systems. Got around the "freak out" effect by passing the last two ships in the final curve. So, no time to freak out and mess up.

For the Arcade Perfect, I made it easy on myself by starting at the beginning and working my way through one at a time. Makes it much easier to remember since, as you say, there's no icon or anything telling you that you beat it. Stuck on Chenghou, of course.

Use Icarus for Moa Therma,both forward and reverse.
Run it like a TT and absorb anything that doesn't make you go faster is my Tip.
for the Arcade perfect trophy.

That was my stumbling block.

Progress report on Current level - At level 36 and even if you win a race at Phantom speed progress is 'Slow",incremental at best.

The faster speeds you race at and if Pilot assist is on or off effects the scale of progression.

How J eames got to level 46 is beyond me,I've beaten him nearly every time we have raced......strange that he exits the room if Pilot Assist is turned off......Or if I appear for that matter.

Seems I'm going to have to have a 1 on1 challenge with this Irishman........What do you guys think?
Should I,as "default" AVS Wipeout HD forum champ, challenge and take the pretender on?
[I don't know if Acrookyln/Bambobanga USA NY] is a forum member,we are pretty equal[Triakias racer]

It would have to be Phantom-NO pilot assist- weapons on or off I don't care ,over as many laps as you want [20 max ATM] ,all 16 tracks.

See who walk's out of the tournament and who gets carried out.

Sounds like a fun one to spectate. Let us know when/if it goes down.

Breezed through Chenghou last night using AG-Systems. Second try got the gold. I thought for most of the race that I was playing on Novice or something since I was so far in the lead for so long both times. Guess all that practice on Sebenco paid off.

I gave the final tournament a go, also using AG. Ended up in fourth place (and that was with two DNFs!!!). I can taste that Elite gold.

Deleted and reinstalled the game last night. Online still won't work. Maybe I need to delete my saved data? Sucks if that's the case.

Hold off on deleting the save data. Blackwiggle said there's a real possibility that this is a server-side issue. Some sort of player data reset that they need to do on their end. Apparently, StudioLiverpool is taking care of this on a case-by-case basis. Check with blackwiggle or over at the wipeoutzone forums for more details.

*sigh* Why are they doing it case-by-case? Anyway, I haven't deleted the data yet; after the 50+ friends fiasco, I'm getting a little fed up with SL's bugs.

i'm guessing SL is doing this on an individual basis because they know how much of a pain and expense it is to go through a whole new patch process for a game that not all that many people are playing online.

I raced him last night funnily enough .

They have a League called AVALON which is held none stop over 3 days,usually once a month or Bi monthly [it's run by one of my friends from France called Kanar or Kanar-is-Back,he's suffering the same problem as Martez that's why the second name]
Next meet is on May 22-23-24 starting 19.00 GMT
I see he's thrown in a 20 lap no weapon Endurance race this time,I imagine a lot switching to Pirahna for that one

Anway;All the races are Phantom speed-pilot assist off-alternating weapons on/off.
We had a small meet last night about 10 tracks [so 20 races] and I think he only got a better placing than me 4 times ,one no weapon race on Sol 2 he knocked me off the track at the second turn on the first lap, I respawned and still managed to catch up and overtake him.[He left the room after that incident]

He posted a comment somewhere else that he just likes racing and is not too perturbed if he doesn't win [umm,a somewhat dubious statement]

I had another bloke last night [level 38,another Irishman] who was hosting a room,who messaged me to leave the room as I was causing the weapon pads to not work ,I thought it had more to do with his slight problem of constantly coming second since my entering the room ,and said as much in a reply saying that it was a new excuse to me.

But for all my little victories,I got my butt handed to me on a plate when in a series of full field races with the Top Guns , my poor little Ag-Systems got bashed about mercilessly by a couple of tankish Auricoms ,every pick up had to be absorbed just to survive ,and then there were the never ending amount of mines and bombs to contend with.
I sent a message in a chat room once saying it was like Cambodia with all the mines and bombs and it's become a part of the wipeout terminology.
Kanar even made a graphic for it.

Too funny.... I love the Cambodia reference. It would be cool to have a Cambodia tournament and the winner get the Cambodia Kingdom graphic skin on their fav craft.
Said... I have exprienced the weapons pads not being active after certain players have past near them. (no over them) First, how is it possible to just past near the pad and pick up items? Why doesn't the pads re-spawn after the required time limits? Just an observation I seen in a few races.

I think that's a result of lag and other network issues. It just looks like they didn't pass near enough to the pad, but from their perspective, they did what they always do to get those pickups.

Thanks for the info. I swear sometimes it seem that I am clueless about what's going on within this game. I see players flying under the track on Sol 2, over me on Alnupha Pass and I'm like wtf? And yes, there are major network issues (game freeze, wrong position placement, etc..) My all time fav, "Network connection not avail" Thanks again.... See ya in the lobby....

Wipeout Patch 1.40 out now.

We got this post from Paul Tweedle [Studio Liverpool in charge of the 1.30 patch] at the Wipeoutzone.

Hi Wipeout Zoners,

I just thought you guys should be among the first to know - we're releasing a new patch for WipEout HD. V1.40 will be available TOMORROW at 5pm (UK time, Wednesday 6th May)!

So, just boot up the game after that time and you will be prompted as usual.

It fixes the annoying stutter during online races, which I'm sure will please you all. We have had the fix internally for a while now but every patch has to go through a lengthy QA process which I'm sure you can understand.

Due for release 2009 .

WIPEOUT XL for PS3 as listed on IGN's new releases due list.

And at a price of $28 I think this will be a Download only.
Too cheap to be a disc - too expensive to be a solely PSone port of the original.

There are 233 empty cells in the Campaign section of HD.

Expect announcements then of a MAJOR wipeout release.

SCEE are holding their cards VERY close to their chests ATM.

There was a recent Wipeout Euro Convention where some of the guys got the heads up and prices [plural] for what is coming [ A lot of them beta test stuff for SL IN HOUSE],so I would certainly say that something BIG is going to be announced within the next 3 weeks.

SONY as a rule use Wipeout as a new technology show case ,as does Nintendo with MARIO

Wipeout firsts
1]Showcase game for PSone
2]Blew EVERYBODY away with the release of XL/2097 which set the standard for graphics/game play at that time
3]Fusion was one of the first releases for the PS2
4]PURE was a first release title for the PSP
5]PULSE was the first to have interactive craft skin development [added content for PSP available from a website] the US got shafted by not having the added tracks down loadable from either the PULSE site or later from the EURO based PStores.
6]Wipeout HD - the first download only game from the PStore - First TRULY 1080P game on the PS3

If anybody wants the down loadable content for PURE [there are quite a few,but seem hard to find for some] just post here for the request and I will post a link that will give you them all of them for free.

Oh well it was obviously some WRONG info from the IGN site [surprise,surprise]

Just got this message posted at the wipeoutzone by Colin Berry lead designer of wipeout at Studio Liverpool.

First I have heard of it.

I can state 100% no work is being done on this, so its 100% likely just the old psone ver appearing on the store. Ergo no 15player online or whatever else you might think

He also posted this regarding release information on the added content for HD and how and why it is done the way it is by SCEE.

Well to be honest we arent really supposed to say anything, thats down to SONY EUROPE MARKETING, not the Studio Liverpool DEV TEAM. Its not our job, indeed we have to be very careful to not cross a line.
Still, we kind of go a little against what we are supposed to do, and people like myself, crob, paul etc post things up when we feel we can and when we feel its worth it, though each time we do, we run the risk of fan backlash or indeed pissing someone off internally.

Its no more the job of studio liverpool to keep the fans updated, than it would be for a factory worker of Pepsi, to tell people about new and exciting sugar free caffeine free pepsi free cans of pepsi.

I'll add to that and say, that press releases, information to fans about games / dlc, etc etc, is planned and handled particular ways for a reason.
That is why they have press days, and E3s and the like. You cant necessarily expect a company to make announcements via a fansite, ok I am 100% sure someone can find an example where that is done, but it is not the norm.
Lets take for example the DLC pack for HD, its being worked on, it is coming. When ? When its ready. What is it ? There will be a planned announcement of its contents closer to release to build talk about it. Once its been announced then members of the team can talk more freely about it, but until then they cant.

A question was asked at the wipeoutzone.

Why?,out of the 40 odd tracks to choose from that could be HDified they picked Talons Junction [one of the easier tracks in PULSE]
And what and how the selection process occurred.

This track scored in the bottom of preferred tracks to be HDified in a poll at the Zone [5 votes]

Response from Colin Berry [lead designer wipeout HD] -Studio Liverpool.

Got some great news for those that have had account problems playing online with HD.

Hi guys,

I'm just on my way home for the weekend but I wanted to jump on here to let you know that we believe we have a fix for the problem with logging in with certain accounts.

We know this one has been going on for a long time and apologise for that, but it has involved quite a lot of work by many people some of whom from outside of Studio Liverpool. A real team effort.

This fix should kick in next week but I will let you know for sure exactly when it will go live during next week. It is a server side thing so will not require a game patch.

Spread the word!
