Will this work?

I would love a decent setup for listening to my music; So, I plan on buying a 5.1 speaker system [Aperion Audio 533 Cinema HD].

My questions are, if I run the analog stereo outputs on my Toshiba HD-XA2 into an Onkyo 605 with a CD source, it should power the towers right? Now, I've never owned anything like this; But, I know I will also require the powered subwoofer as part of the 2 channel audio setup... Will the analog outputs, emit sound through the subwoofer too when it is connected to the receiver or only the towers?

Also, should I even bother using the analog outputs for 2 channel audio or should I use optical/coaxial/hdmi instead in pseudo 5.1?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

PS. Film is my preoccupation.

My suggestion is you connect the HD-DVD player via HDMI to your Onkyo. The Onkyo should then receive a 2 channel PCM 44.1 stream from your HD DVD player when a CD is being played over this HDMI Cable. The Onkyo will then DA the PCM, apply the 80 hrz cross over and send the signal to the Left, Right and Subwoofer. There should be no reason to run 2 or 5 channel RCAs from the HD-DVD player unless you specifically want the DA done by the HD-DVD player. As you Onkyo has really good Burr Brown PCM1796 DAs I wouldn't suggest this, but you can do it none the less.

This way you have one setup that accomidates both your Movie, and audio playback.
