HD-DVD rip re-authored to BD?

So... how difficult would it be to rip an HD-DVD and reauthor it onto a BD-R?

Next question: Who would pay an ebay pirate the same price for this bootleg as the BD were to cost in retail, were it to ever exist?

I'm not saying I would do this, or participate in any such activity-- but if someone approached me with a Uni/Para BD of interest in hand I might have trouble convincing myself not to take it. After all, I am simply trying to utilize my BD player and enjoy my fav movies

SAD. This is what BR fans have become.
Now they have a thread about how since HD DVD didn't play fair, they are going to cheat (and break the law).

LOL, most of the BD player cannot even play BD-Rs! It's not a bug, it's feature!

Give me a break. I didn't say anything about playing fair, or any other stance/perspective you seem to have instantly reflected onto me. I would not label you "neutral" with that type of a response. You're just reaching. I, like many others, just want access to movies on the format of my choice. Also I, like many others, went ahead and bought into the format with superior specification, studio support and more accessible player (PS3 in my case anyway.) With one studio bailing on me and others possible to follow, why would anyone blame me for just trying to not make my hardware go obsolete? Take off the red tinted glasses for a minute and take a look.

Was I being silly? Sure. But if I prefer my PS3 as media hub, HD-DVD discs just aren't going to cut it.

Your best bet is to author an AVCHD disc via Nero Vision. You didn't hear this from me.

I hope you guys realize that this thread is so far outside of AVS guidelines that it has absolutely no chance of survival.

Isn't it enough that the Blu-Ray threads have become saturated with gloating HD DVD trolls, so now we have to deal with piracy as well?

SAD is lumping all Blu-Ray owners in with ONE PERSON posting a scenario in a forum. This isn't the Borg, Pal. Why would you even entertain the idea that this is what "BR fans" have become and not "BR fan?"

Good God. I think people are taking me far too seriously. I am not looking for specific details on the process. Please, to anyone who thinks I am, stop and don't post them.

Difficult enough to make $240 for an HD DVD player money well spent.

Additionally, I seem to recall reading that many Blu-ray players cannot play recordable BD discs? Even if you somehow managed to make the disc, the player may reject anything not factory pressed.

If you want to watch HD DVD movies, you'll need to buy the player.

People are mad at Paramount and they want to lash out.

You have a point. Is Microsoft the type of company that would monitor random internet forums for a guy posting silly messages about copying movies from their format.. I mean.. one format.. to another format which he preferred but they.. I mean.. 'the industry' .. destroyed before it was able to mature?

Wait.. what am I asking here? Of course they are.

Personally, I believe the 360 makes a better media hub. Get one of those and then you could play HD DVD. Oh, and there are TONS more games too! Does anyone one make games for the PS3 anymore? Last I saw they had about 2 in the top 25 and were being out sold close to 20:1 in SW.

I have a 360. vista Media center extender.. what can I say besides: slow, crashes.. it was neat until I tried to use it in practice.

Besides, the cheapo add-on route doesn't utilize my digital display, nor my 7.1 receiver... so.. out, out and .. out.

As far as games go: has not much to do with HD movies. PS3 has a poor library (unless you count the thousands of PS2, PS1 games it will play) for now, no doubt about it.

It´s the perfect Media Hub, sweet looking, low noise, doesn´t get hot and it´s incredible reliable. Recommend from crack users all over the world :-)

don't worry, asia will have tons of these hddvd rips overseas that will be under a buck. it is what the 3rd world countries rely on due to the economy. knock-offs and piracy. it's a shame. there is no way around it. this is why bd+ is promising for studios. although, it'll probably get cracked it offers a second tier of security. hddvd has no promise of piracy. all these movies will be circulated through the internet whether you like it or not. for every one person that thinks they are supporting a studio by buying one movie, there will be 10 people downloading and watching it for free. so yes, hddvd will win.
