Looking for a better portable solution for wmv playback

I have ipod videos, tried an archos 604, now have a zen vision w that's going back soon. I have a ton of wmv's in resolutions up to DVD quality. I want to be able to watch the vids on the player, and be able to output a relatively clean signal to my tv at home on occaision or say in a hotel room while on vacation.

The zen will not accept the high bandwith wmv files, and I don't want to have to transcode a couple of hundred wmvs. The ipod puts out a good signal, but have to transcode. The archos accepted the files, but the interface was funky, and there were some other problems that I can't remember right now.

A portable standalone mini dvd player would be cool if it could accept burned wmvs.

Are there any other options? I'm stumped. Thanks.

You can try a UMPC, ultra mobile pc, which are pmp sized mini pcs that run on Windows XP/Vista.

Thanks Ja Phule, that's a good idea. I have a 17" laptop which is far to big, but a 10 or 12" notebook could be useful. Maybe with an hdmi output to hookup to my plasma.
