Thanks !
Running out of project ideas - I may need to revisit REW and tweaking.

Actually looking to better match up my SVS cylinder collection, by grabbing another 16-46 SVS with the 12.3 driver.

And.... Would love to implement the Denon 4311 (XT-32 for 2 sub channels)
^^^^Another sub? Sheesh man! Don't you have enough subs? Oh wait a tick, you can never have too many subs, what was I thinking? Just like you can't have too many golf clubs, or fishing lures! Too many subs, IMPOSSIBLE!

Warren / Wazzy,

Thank You both!
The idea bank is currently empty. On second thought; I know this guy who did a really nice DIY motorized masking system...
Hell, you've probably already accomplished that mask a few months ago and failed to mention it because of all the other projects that you've completed.

Wishing anyone who might happen past here:
Happy Father's Day

I'm writing this as my youngest son 17 drives off to work in his Mom's car. He will join us for a family BBQ after 5 today. Lucky kid got his first job as a result of his hobby, he works in an RC hobby store.
Got his driver's license 2 weeks ago, and tomorrow may find us buying his first car (a mint 2000 camero V6)?

Moral of the story:
Dads; Enjoy your kids while they are still young, time goes by way too fast

Right back at ya buddy! Happy Fathers Day.

I know all too well of that which you speak. Mine are 14 and 17. The oldest has a 03 Caddy DeVile and works at a local pizza shop still hard to watch him drive off. Worked today so I have not seen him yet. I did get to go fishing with my youngest today, have not had the opportunity to do that for awhile so that was good. They do grow up very fast.

2000 mint Camero sounds like a good choice. I'd stay away from a V8 sports car for obvious reasons.

OK; also a selfish bump (with a question - on the chance others are still following).

So thru the course of the basement remodel / HT build - I have accumulated the most common power tools and tool widgets.
Enough so that I now receive Father's Day gift cards for home improvement stores.

So my question to others:
I'm Looking to consume some gift cards and looking for suggestions for any new, or really slick, tools in the $50~100 range.
In other words have you purchased any must have tools (something that would be available at HD or Harbor Freight)?
I am not aware of what tools you do / don't have, but.....

I seem to always find new uses for my Oscillating Multifunction tool: http://www.harborfreight.com/variable-speed-multifunction-power-tool-67537.html

I am sure Home Depot and Harbor Freight have something similar, but an LED headlamp is also something new to me that I keep finding very handy for all kinds of projects. Here's an example from New Egg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882273008&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-NA-_-NA

And you can never go wrong with a good pair of work gloves or safety glasses that you would actually like to wear which don't fog up. Home Depot has a pretty good selection of safety gear.

Interesting to see what others would post because I am in the same situation as you with a few gift cards to burn.

I'm still here buddy. Well not knowing what you have exactly if I were to purchase a new powered hand tool it would be and impact driver. I think that would come in handy for all types of construction projects.

I would like to have one of those and the other tool that I have managed not to have gotten throughout all of my construction projects is a sawsall.

Good luck with the tool shopping.

RT,

Already got the Sawzall - not sure how I ever got by without it.
I think your other suggestion; the impact driver just made my list.

Thanks!
You may already have one, but ... plunge router and Jasper jig.

Edit: oh, and speaking of jigs, Kreg jigs look like fun, although I don't have one (yet).

Thanks Brad!
Excellent idea especially since I'm getting the bug to try building some speakers??
That's what I'm talking about, lets build some speakers! I'm working on a SEOS based LCR set next - have the CDs and waveguides, and woofers in the mail.
Yup,

I think Craig needs to build a DIY sub since he only has three......he needs a big 18" DIY sub that pushes over a 1000 watts! Might as well build something he can use! biggrin.gif

Brad,
I have a friend who is also pursuing the SEOS build ( pretty sure he also got in on the waveguide purchase). I have been following that thread. Looking forward to seeing the first results.

Thanks TMcG!
Great recommendation on the multi-tool; my wife got me a cordless one for Xmas. I agree - VERY useful.
Maybe time for some better goggles and work gloves
post #1494 of 1594
Craig,

I owe pretty much all of my building success to my magic tool belt.

image020englishss.jpg

Highly recommended. Now if I could just remember where I left it after the last time I used it ...

And for special occasions, there is always the trusty Hanes-ometer, but that requires a special license!

Hanes,

Great to see you still come around these parts!

One very important question;
Would one even dare to use the Magic tool belt, and the "Hanes-oMeter together, simultaneously ??

No way! That could create a time paradox, the result of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe! Granted that's a worst case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.

Or your home theater.

Just read and skimmed through this thread. Great job on the theater as it looks great. I'll have to keep my eye out on it as I see there are a lot of other people from around Chicago in here so might just catch a meet sometime. Keep up the great work on it
