Whats really off the scale is the size of the thread and the emotions in the others sites thread.
Isn't irrational hoping an grasping at straws part of the grieving process?
Blu-ray fans after the Paramount/Dreamworks process are emotionally vulnerable right now and are reacting in a classic grieving pattern.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%BCbler-Ross_model
The stages are:
Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening."
Anger: "Why ME? It's not fair?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or anybody perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")
Bargaining: "Just let me live to see my son graduate."
Depression: "I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"
Acceptance: "It's going to be OK."
Denial: See any threads on the Paramount Decision Day
Anger: See Bill Hunts The Digital Bits posts the week after
Bargaining: Well its only to last 18 months, its only the money, If Warner goes Blu-ray , it changes everything back
Depression: Both damned formats will fail, all companies are whores, suitcases of cash change everything
Acceptance: well maybe $199 HD DVD players are OK, lets wait for the 4Q
Just saying that this kinda thing is playing into the emotional roller coaster a lot of Blu-ray fans have felt since the Viacom decision shocked them.
Seems pretty narcissistic on the part of the OP of the rumour, if he believes it to be true, and pretty cruel if its a joke and he's just a sophisticated troll.
Not saying the Warner thing would not happen, but its kinda tough to justify based on their public comments and it doesn't make sense in timing since it would much more logical to wait until 4Q result are in for any major decision, including going HD DVD exclusive.
