Is anyone else looking as forward to this tittle as me? I am looking more forward to this tittle then any tittle on either format between between now and Nov.

RT rates it at 97% and i have heard people have say its one of the best horror movies ever made.

Oh my gosh. Have you never seen this movie? It's a classic. I've seen it like 25 times and it still is at the top of my list of announced titles coming soon. At the very top is Halloween.

This movie is flat out AWESOME. My DVD copy just took a crap about a year ago, so this will make a nice replacement.

Wore out my DVD from so much playtime. .. Well not really, but it just got scratched up after years of use.

True Classic!

I wish Reomero would make a true sequel. Land of the Dead was junk.

Come on, give us TWILIGHT OF THE DEAD.

I do know he is making DIARY OF THE DEAD. Happens during NIGHT in the timeline.

Land was crap. Dawn is awesome and I'm excited to pick this up. The DVD does look great though so I might rent this first and see if I really need to upgrade it. The recent version is coming out on HD-DVD and I'm very excited to pick that up as well.

This is probably my most anticipated title this year. After finally meeting Tom Savini this weekend, the suspense is killing me! I can't wait to see how this looks in HD.

I agree with everything you said. Land of the Dead was crap...which is a real shame. Day of the Dead was crappy too... I really wish it was good, and would by it in a heartbeat if it was even ok...but it wasnt.

As much of a movie fan as I am I think I have only seen he original Dawn maybe 1 or 2 times..15-20 years ago?!? So i wasnt even old enough to appreciate it therefore never revisited it. I know im going to love it and getting it in HD is going to rock...

I cant remember. Is this the one where someone kills a Zombi by shoving a screw driver in its temple?

Yup!

The anchor bay set that is out now is just busting with content. It would be a shame if it didn't make it to the BD set.

Blasphemy!! Day was also a classic.

Remake of Dawn is pretty good to, blind buy for me on the HDDVD side.

Anyone remember the remake of night? Am I the only one that liked it?

Land was ok not on the same level as the original trilogy but Day is better then Dawn. Dawn is a great movie but Day is the best zombie movie ever made. Sherman Howard did an excellent job as Bub(zombie for those who never saw it). Also Rhodes( Joseph Pilato), Steel(Gary Howard Klar), Rickles(Ralph Marrero) and Logan all did an excellent job aswell. The real standout though is Tom Savini's great effects. I'm getting all 4 releases from AB.

ok....educate me. What was good about this movie? It wasnt scary, acting was very poor, and 90% of the movie seemed to take place on 2-3 rooms, there was very little zombi exposure until the very end...

Am I missing something?

pre-ordered it hoping im wrong and missed something

Return is one of those SPOOF zombie movies. They tried to cash in on the Romero stuff.

Thats what I liked about it. It was very claustrophobic. Also showed how human beings turned on each other, because you thought the Military was big and bad and had everything under control.

No you're not missing anything, Day was awful, slow, and boring (just saw it less than a year ago). Night and Dawn are classics in every sense of the word.

Really looking forward to seeing 28 Weeks for the first time, the trailer looked great. 28 Days started out really excellent, but the last half ruined it for me. Boyle's had a tough time with endings lately But 28 Days was shot with PAL DV cameras IIRC, so I can't imagine BD will bring out much more than the DVD did.

No you're not, I liked it a lot too!
The Blu-Ray release of the original Dawn is probably my most anticipated title as well..god I love this film. Seeing what a great job Anchor Bay did with remastering this title for the UE-Dvd Set, I think it should look breathtaking in HD.
I also like Day of the Dead and the Dawn Remake a lot...yes, even Land of the Dead was very enjoyable for me (not anywhere close to the three Romero classics though)
Yeah, Dawn and Day (and of course the original Halloween and Evil Dead 2 ) in HD are must haves.
Here's hopin' Anchor Bay will make the good decision to release them in HD DVD too in the very near future (without region coding).

Here's the specs and artwork for the discs.

And, it had great effects for its time, like the guy who gets his head pulled off by the zombies, and his scream goes to a high pitch as the last bit of skin and muscle is pulled off, all the while his eyes are rolling and his mouth is moving.
Or the Zombie who gets his head cut off with a shovel at the jawline. Next scene the head is on the ground, eyes looking around, very creepy.
All the "Dead" movies had "slow" spots in them. This one has a little more than the others, but...it's still a great movie for fans.

Very funny post (just imagine any non-horror fans reading that).

I agree with all of it, but Day has a whole lot more going for it.
Great characters/acting, great story and script, and a great score.
I personally hated Land of the Dead by the way, here's hopin's Diary is gonna be much, much better.

RETURN is NOT a spoof. It's lighthearted but it's the product of the split between Romero and RUsso. Both had visions for the sequel and they went they're own ways. Romero did Dawn and Russo did Return. Russ Streiner who co-produced the original also played Johnny in the original, he co'wrote Return of the Living Dead and co-produced the Remake that Savini directed.

I love all of them by the way. Eager to hear any other info anyone has about any future romero zombie projects, cuz Land left me severely wanting.
Is Return of the Dead also coming out in HD?

And it is a spoof isn't it? I seem to remember a zombie answering a police radio and asking for backup ("more braaiiinns!!").

Unless I am mistaken and that was ROTLD 2...

Anyway, DAY is the greatest zombie-flick ever in my book. I saw it years before DAWN, and the FX of Dawn was a bit of a letdown after the grisly realism of DAY. Still, Dawn is great too.

I think 28 weeks later is the best of the fast-zombie movies. Much better than 28 days, especially the ending. can't wait to replace more horror-dvds with HD versions!!
I am about to drop $500 on a BD player just for ZOMBIES!

stoked!

Hopefully Fulci and Argento are in the works.

Does anyone know where to locate a dvd release timeline for Anchor Bay? Maybe that would give some insight as to what's coming next.
Well I think Russo intended it to be "fun" and lighthearted with a camp feel ala monster movie double feature feel. He didn't intend to spoof night of the living dead. As a die hard zombie fan - I would suggest we not mention the sequels to return of the living dead, the 30th anniversary recut of NOTLD (with that god awful new footage) or by any means should we mention the HORRENDOUS Day of the Dead 2. and I have a funny feeling the remake of Day of the Dead is going to make the remake of Dawn of the Dead look like Godfather part 2.
doesn't look very promising at all. There will never be a better zombie actor than Howard Sherman (aka Bub) Ever.

it appears both MGM and Warner have distribution rights for Return of the Living Dead. Can any one help me confirm this?
